No.

McInerney dominated the centre bounces in the first half, yet Sydney kept winning the clearances.

Fort contributed to Sydney’s easy transition out of our forward 50, being about as slow and agile as Gunston.

But Fort was much better in the centre square and at throw ins.
I’m not sure why we play O ahead of Fort. I think Fort is just better than O at this point.

I don't think Fort halves enough ruck contests as a ruckman, and just based on vision gives up too many clean taps to advantage. He wins ~36% of the ruck contests against predominantly second string rucks, whereas Oscar is at ~44% against the opposition's first ruck.

Dev was growing in confidence when playing through the middle as well as in forward stoppage yesterday.

I felt like the role playing shackles were off last night and you can tell he had a few gears as a ball winning playmaker in traffic. He had a hand on multiple goals with his handball releasing the forward running player on the outside. I think Dev setup Fletcher for his first goal as well. Need to persist and let him be on a ball winning role. He'll defend by nature in stoppages as well as running back to support.

I think Lohmann and Fletcher will go out for Zorko and McCluggage.
Does McCarthy need a training block ?

Bailey had a good game last night but we need a more consistent output from him rather than a good game here n there. I would've sent him for a training block too if he had a poor one last night. Not sure whom to drop now to bring both Zorko and McCluggage in.

I want to keep Dev, Fletcher, Fort and Kai somehow. Kai didnt get the goal but was really good in chase n pressure in F50 in the second half.

We made some pretty big changes so this was never going to be crisp and clean.

Jaspa Fletcher take a bow, thought that was a fantastic debut, very exciting.

Wilmot seems so underrated to me, I just find him such an exciting player with great energy and heart.

Fantastic to see Bailey have a great game too.

If Berry gets a ban for his tackle then that rule has gone too far - he didn't have arms locked or anything. And if that jumping elbow to Lester's chin doesn't see some weeks that's also messed up.

Overall I'll take the win but know there is a tough road ahead and we'll need to be more accurate and landing tackles better than this game

I thought he was good,I can see a lot of what you see.

Fagan was quick in his presser to remind a reporter that Dizz was also missing

Just something to keep in mind for you, mainly.
What is up with Fagan, does he personally not like Ryan Lester? Watched the presser and Fagan is running through the players who came into the side and talking about their performances. He mentions all of them apart from Lester. At one point he asks out loud, who else came into the team and instead of answering his own question and mentioning Lester, he blanks him. That was very very poor and very very disrespectful. What is Fagan’s problem with Lester?

Need our talls to be taking more contested marks. Lots of nearly tonight’s. Daniher(soap hands tonight), Hipwood, Big O and Fort just need to offer more.
Thought Kai was good. Unlucky not to snag one. A lot on team orientated efforta and good pressure.
Jasper looks nice. Loved his goal. Backed himself and took it well.
BIG game next week. Can’t kick like that again.
Keep playing Fort he’s a tractor
Hippy played his second good game in a row something he has rarely done.

Fort absolutely dominated the centre square in the third quarter and he should have spent more time there. Fagan is too set in his thinking on match day.

Scrappy game and we looked bang average and low on confidence in first qtr. Got the game on our terms from second qtr onwards but left them in the game with our poor conversion in front of goal.

Feels like another game where we win at home but play like that away and we are not winning. Too slow moving the ball. Too much down the line stuff. Very little switching the ball. Not enough run and gun through the middle. Also, way too many dropped marks - I'm looking at you Joey Daniher. He must have dropped a dozen marks last night - against a team who was missing a host of tall defenders.

I'll say it again - Hipwood to Full forward. He actually has the ability to lead at the kicker, which we badly need. He isn't a Wayne Carey sit under the ball and out muscle his opponent.

The youngster did well and that was the main positive from the match. Fletcher showed great composure when kicking his goal. Wilmot is a jet. Has great hands and reads the play well. Ashcroft we all know is going to be a wonderful player for this club. Lohman did some nice things - possibly still a little raw. Think he takes over from Linc McCarthy as of next year.

Froggy Lester excellent AGAIN. Can we stop dropping him. Stays in the team regardless. Kiddy much better - will play better with Rich out. McKenna also did much better. Starcevich killed Papley.

All that said and done next week vs Saints at Marvel will be a very tough game to win. We will need McCluggage and Zorko back. Hoping Payne injury isn't bad and he can play next Friday night.

He is rigidly inflexible and stubborn.

Are you being serious here?

The ball did seem genuinely greasy last night, think that had a major effect on the ball handling. Am concerned about Payne's injury we can ill afford to lose him next week or for weeks (heaven forbid).

Last night seemed insipid but at least we bank 4 points, a win next week in which is certain to be an ugly game would be exciting no matter how it was achieved.

Like everyone else was pleased with Jaspa's debut, and hope that Kai and Dev stick around, if they do I reckon Tunstill and Sharp can make it, then the next few years seem bright.

Again, Lester is playing. You have what you want. Give it a rest ..... please!

Or waiting on Payne to come off
I counted 4, maybe 5, goals directly attributable to Payne. Not bad for a fullback. Plus, and worse in my mind, was a distinct lack of old fashioned heart. Some might call it soft. I would.

The old axiom looks like Tarzan plays like Jane springs to mind.

???

Played almost 3/4 clearly injured. Has also been our best defender this year IMO, more important than Andrews due to his size and speed combination. And that is from an early Payne critic.

Not the most convincing win but I’ll take it. Swans clearly came in with a plan so it was good to see us counter. The question is what happens when a team more capable of executing does the same thing against us.
