Sorry I didn’t mean to upset you. I was just stating facts about the free kick count and that Richmond were winning in the dry weather.
Since when do free kicks have to be equal? They play dirty, they cop the frees against.
Amazing that someone with three posts to their name with no skin in the game re support of either team, feels the need to visit and enlighten us with his pearls of wisdom.

With all due respect Mick, you have to be joking! Free kick count was 25-12 in your favour - I have never seen umpiring keep a team in the game like what I witnessed last night. You say the weather turned it on for Richmond yet they reeled in a 4 goal deficit to be 2 goals in front at quarter time in perfect conditions. They beat you in the dry and they beat you in the wet with the umpires totally against them.
Clearly didn't watch the game and you are only here to troll.

hahahaha, why would I watch a different sport? Fgn love watchin the mighty sainters, sorry I don't fap over the hairdo crotchin
Yes posting a single tribute to a guy on a thread in his 300th is fapping.

Hate him if you want, people that actually love footy usually respect triple premiership captain brownlow medalists.

I think for me Richmond changed the way I thought about “midfields”.

They weren’t bothered with clearances as they were confident their system would get the ball back and they could rebound from there with ball movement.

I mentioned in another post that we’ve reverted to bombing it long since Port: something is off. We’ve given blokes like Aliir, Sicily, Crows blokes and Vlaustin last night a chance to intercept at will and then launch rebound attacks cutting through our zone.

Until we have a system that doesn’t give the ball back to the opposition by bombing it long to no one, we’ll just be making up the numbers.

Lyon started promisingly but we have reverted to Ratts/Richo ball recently. I’m not all doom and gloom and think the coaches made noticeable improvements early in the year but the problems we have had lately have to be acknowledged and, hopefully, fixed as this is where elite coaches earn their money.

They seemed to have Vlastuin as a spare and he was reading the fall better than our forwards I thought. That game against Sicily was embarrassing though. It looked like we were trying to hit him up. Zones make it hard to drop the ball in dangerous spots. You have to take shots from outside 50 or get out the back which is guarded. The only way to counter it is to play team orientated footy or take low percentage shots and hope. We have lost that socialist forward set up we had early on. King is so good he makes us lazy.

Richmond we’re the kings of the professional free kick in their flag era. I’m pretty sure they were always down the very low end of the free kick differential ladders and rightly so.

I’m usually pretty non biased about umpiring, I think we get the standard “not a big club” end of the stick but overall I think the standard of umpiring gets worse and worse every year, I genuinely didn’t think it was too bad last night, I think we probably got a couple of 50/50 calls our way but nothing to write home about.

None of the players expected to go high are mids this year, we probably get access to the best or second best mid at a pick around 10 to 15. No reason to tank this year.
We have 9 games left and could realistically lose more than we win. Getting some senior players back will help, but we are bound to have more injuries as the season progresses. We are 3 games clear of 5 other clubs outside the top 8 so things will have to go very wrong to miss, but I simply have little faith in this list.

I just re-did the ladder predictor which has us finishing 7th and having to play the first final interstate at either Adelaide or Brisbane. I dont believe we will need to tank - we will have a quick exit!

I suppose one ore-season isn't really sufficient to re-train an entire squad to play a different way.

Early on in the season, there were players at the heart of all that was good and fresh about our game - crucially most were new players or those without much experience at St Kilda: Pou, Nas, Owens, Wood, Stocker, Caminiti, Byrnes and yes, even Cordy.

As soon as some of the regulars - Steele, Ross, Membrey, King - began to "influence" our games more, our style has reverted back to the dross we've seen for most of the past 3-10 years.

Maybe Pou and Hammer were always going to fade after a barnstorming start.

It's unrealistic to expect players like Seb Ross, Jack Steele, Dougal Howard, Jade Gresham, and Rowan Marshall to change the way they react under intense pressure - its such an instinctive thing. I think RTB is evaluating the players under pressure to see which of them can have their instinctive actions tuned and which are a lost cause.

That’s fair, my comparison was to Geelong who have Stanley and blicavs in the ruck which is hardly inspiring either but both know their role.

I just don’t think the narrative of “we need a Dusty” or whatever is helpful cause only like 3 teams really have that kind of player, waiting until we get one or trying to turn someone into one isn’t gonna help us.

Geelong had depth which is what we don't have. Those guys could play midfield most weeks leaving Danger and Selwood to keep themselves for finals. We have a good enough best 22 but absolutely bare behind that. To have an injured Jones and Bytel as the only midfield depth that isn't first or second year is a real indictment on past list management.

I agree but I also think more clearly defined roles would help.

Windy is one of our few “winners” on the midfield and I’m positive it’s because he has a clear role, Crouch probably the other (mostly cause he can only really do one thing) they both know it and can perform it, the rest look like they’re just rolling around playing local footy, collecting touches when they can, not setting up, not doing any defensive structuring etc etc.

I assume Ross is trying to implement his structure and seeing who can do it but I fear he might not be structuring to the cattle we have.

I'd say that's a bit inaccurate. Ross, Steele etc were going well early in the year and the kids were full of run and eager to impress and we hit the ground running while others eased into their seasons. The senior guys are starting to fade and the kids haven't got the same energy they had early on and we are starting to look like we are settling at our true level now.

I said it last year that we could compete against most sides if we have a our best list available and they are all going at 100%. It's shown in the last two seasons to be accurate but both seasons derailed when Steele got injured. This year we seem to be holding up better with him having less impact so we have improved and we are bringing through quite few kids at the same time.

I did notice this last night

Seb Ross once again he has been guilty of this for years

Senior player

We've been crying out, well I know I have, for a statement to be made.
Will it actually happen? Surely it's time to actually explore some of the players that haven't had the opportunity to **** up?
Who knows. They might surprise us.

Felt after it rained we still wanted to be pretty and play our game. Richmond changed to gaining meters at all cost.
We looked good when we sent the chaos ball forward and terrible when we tried to hit someone up

You’re new to BF but it’s not wise to enter a clubs thread discussing a game after a loss and niggle posters, you’ll be banned every week.
But he's right. Sadly. Hard to say he is niggling when he is stating facts. Richmond look like a team with a new coach and new freedom...bit like we did for the first 6 weeks.
They were the better side sadly....all our comments are about the need to upgun the mid field they did that by getting Taranto and Hopper who is injured as well as having Lynch to return.
We must bite the bullet as well. They are damn hard to get from other clubs. DeGoey was exactly the right call at least we were in the running. Hope we can get a couple of Steele types who are not getting a run. Flanders Mathieson if they turn out poor can at least bolster Sandy if the experiment was to fail.
We seem to be alright at getting other peoples rejects Stocker Steele....with overlooked talent in Sincs Marshall and Wilkie. Let's hope it works again in the off season regardless of whether we play finals...which I think we will but still finish between 5 and 8th spot.

Lions will be interesting to see how we come out and play.

We'll get pumped.

Brissie are like us only more advanced in the way that they play, and whilst we added defensively they added offensively and we're just not at a Demons level of consistency to go "right, we've 10mins, lets kick 7 goals" in us to get close enough to matter.

That footage of Seb is absolutely damning. Not the first time he has failed to chase either.
Maybe he’s the one RTB will make an example of. That’s just not a good enough example to set the kids.

Lions haven't pumped us for a long time. We actually tend to play them quite well for some reason. Last year we managed to kick 9.12 to 12.9 to lose to them with a pretty weak side in late in the year. At home at Marvel I think we will at least go with them.

Right or wrong it’s not a wise move to roll into another teams losing autopsy thread and hang shit on them.

Try it the next time collingwood loses, will see if you retain an account.

That footage of Seb is absolutely damning. Not the first time he has failed to chase either.

In his defence the game was cooked at that time. He really lifted in the 3rd quarter and probably played his best game for sometime. Its not Seb's fault our entire midfield group are one paced, consequently they become reactionary because they are too slow to move. Seb is probably best suited to a wing or half back line where his lack of in close turn and burst speed are not exposed so often.

Richmond won first use and waltzed out of stoppages because our entire midfield group are too slow in close. Richmonds speed of movement and ball use cut us up, the same as other midfields have in our all our losses.

Lyon and his coaching group cant keep going back to the same players and expect a different result. The entire midfield needs a shake up and different players used through there.

2019 and outside of an asterixed covid year where we managed to beat them, you'd actually have to go back to 2018 to find our next victory against them, last 10 is 8-2 their way. That's the inherent point with we'll get pumped, hence the we don't have 7 goals in 10 against them like the Dees had early season comment, it'll be more on Brissie failing than it will be on us to demand anything.

Realistically, we don't half arse one of the Tiggies or Hawks games and we're equal 4th going into the match instead of equal 5th, there's then a semi realistic chance that with both sides up and about for a close enough contest for what that game was, however, since we did and have and since we're crashing hard like last year as well only slightly differently and with a more solid baseline, there's nothing to suggest we have a dog in the fight to make it 7-3 in last 10.

They wouldnt understand my logic and eloquence enough to know how to respond.

Have just enough patience and respect for posters on this board why go to another. Except for YouTube Monday Blues last week which was seriously some of the best schardenfraude I have ever seen. Thought I was watching Wogs out of Work until I realised it was for real and not actors.

Would love to see a statement made. Gresham has offered next to nothing over the past month aswell, dropping Ross and Gresh could really send a message to the group.
It’s time.
Didnt hurt Dal Santo and Milne.
