I have to agree with this.I dont have a problem with us giving up a lead of 33 points..... I do have a problem when we are unable to turn it around again....
Agree with the falling over, don't know why they do it but they need to address it. There has to be a reason why we constantly fall over and other teams don't. Or are we just that unco?I was at the game so i'll give a level-headed view if the Mods don't mind.
First off, this:
Too many times the players, but more importantly defenders would lose their footing sometimes unintentionally and sometimes on purpose. Put the players under more pressure than they should have been under.
2nd off, today showed why Richmond aren't quite a finals team yet. Today showcased how good Richmond can be (1st Q and a half) and how bad they can be (the rest of the game). When you can play that bad, especially after such a hot start, it shows that you're not quite ready for finals.
To make it worse, Adelaide didn't seem to make a whole lot of major changes. Porplyzia moved up the ground and got plenty of it. That was the biggest change IMO. It was mainly the skill errors and decision making that cost the game.
3rdly, how are Jackson and Edwards getting a game? Week after week I see these two making some of the biggest facepalm decisions and yet they continue to get games and get plenty of it. Less is more with these two.
Finally, you need another KPF other than Reiwoldt. I said this after rd1 when every forward thrust was directed to him and the same applies 14 rounds later. You won't beat any good teams regularly if this stays the same.
I have to agree with this.
While I knew the Crows would come at us, I also wanted to see how we handled that and it's fair to say we didn't handle it well.
We played blistering footy for a quarter. A quarter of footy that would have put 16 other teams to shame.
But what happened after that was disappointing.
Am I gutted. **** yeah.
What I'm more ashamed of is the shameful utter nobs we have posting here blaming player x or player y It's obvious you toos have no idea about modern AFL.
At the players the posters here are calling into question are the players that are selected on their ability to follow the game plan, not talent.......... Ok so shit went wrong today. But for example, Miller is in the side because the plan dictates that, if the ball is in X spot then do Y, or if it's in Y do A, if you do A then do Z or if it's Y then do W... and that is very simple, in reality it is a lot more complicated than that. So Elton, Miller, Edwards, Nahas, Jackson ........ The eternally flamed, are doing better at following the game plan than those who do not play........
Yes we lost. No big deal, from what I saw we had players running to those X,Z,Y,A etc positions and not quite pulling of off.
We can really eat our own sometimes......
it appears hardwick has target on chest. do we have plan b or c?
from what i have read it appears thought is absent from mind during game.
also some say we eat our own.
but we as members and long time supporters cannot cease tongue.
A 5 goal lead isn't what people might think it is.
I don't expect him to kick 60 a year, or any more than 1 a game. I do expect him to perform his role though, and he simply hasn't done that. Whether he's confused as to what his role is, I don't know, but he needs to make himself much more dangerous, even as a lead up player so that teams will account for him. As it stands, they have all the time in the world to sag off and double team Jack.you can follow a game plan as much as you like but if you cant do the basics of footy, then said plan is useless.my beef with miller is if all he did was lead up to the ball carrier then fine. but he hardly does that and thats his job.
Agree. Also have a problem with the fact our players fall over and render themselves useless.I dont have a problem with us giving up a lead of 33 points..... I do have a problem when we are unable to turn it around again....
Completely agree. And like you say, a 5 goal lead these days can be destroyed by most teams if they get on a run. A 5 goal lead in modern AFL hasn't been a match winning position now (except for perhaps the last quarter) in at least 5, or more years.
Agree. Also have a problem with the fact our players fall over and render themselves useless.
Welll said, I totally agree. Need to get better decision makers and better skilled players than these. We lost by three goals to a side that is three to four goals better than us.
Yes, it was disappointing they way we lost. I am gutted about that.
But while players such as Miller, Jackson and King are getting games and the kids are still in their first and second years, this is going to happen.
I refuse to commit suicide over today like I know most on here will feel like doing.
I agree, but its the fact that we absolutely dominated them in the first qtr then did a complete 180 and let them run all over us for the next 3A 5 goal lead isn't what people might think it is. It's nothing really in footy these days, especially at quarter time. If it was the last quarter, folks might have a point.
Anyway, disappointing to lose any game that you're a chance to win.
EDIT: missed the 5 in the first sentence.
did grimes give his hammy a tweak with 3 minutes to go in the game? limped off! dont think he came back on
And there is the problem.. according to our game plan NOBODY is doing that role as well as Milleryou can follow a game plan as much as you like but if you cant do the basics of footy, then said plan is useless.my beef with miller is if all he did was lead up to the ball carrier then fine. but he hardly does that and thats his job.
