David King said today that supporters need to accept that some of their players will be wiped out while they work this tackling thing out just like the bump.
I bought tickets today to fly my son up that I haven’t seen in months to go to the Suns game. Sic out could be the difference between a win or a loss for his 16th birthday present.
**** you David King, **** you AFL, I’m done.
That **** head even said what if they don’t tackle them to the ground. Our game is ****ed😡

Spot on. Must play DGB now and Ward is a must ahead of Bramble
Frost is more likely to come in than DGB.

And for the chicken littles that worry what this means for DGB go listen to Sam with Cornes and King last Friday, who outlined that there is no rush to play Denver, just as there wasn’t with Sic back when he was the same age and learning.

Still should be getting games now into DGB.

This is the list of the highest-rated players by age in season 2023, based on average player ratings according to AFLCentral.
Age of December 31st, 2023. minimum of 10 games played.
I think it tells a pretty good story about where both sides are. We both have five players listed overall. Gold Coast's young talent is a bit older, with Ballard, Lukosius, Rowell, and Anderson all being drafted in 2017, '18, and '19, respectively, while ours is on the younger end, with both Worpel and Nash being the experienced heads in our midfield at just 24. Both sides clearly have some of the most elite young talent going around, but Gold Coast probably has more prominent names due to how dreadful they were in the late 2010s, resulting in higher picks.
I'm expecting Gold Coast to beat us, but it should be a good contest between two of the most talented young sides in the league, with one being slightly more experienced than the other.

Great to see more of our youngsters featuring on these lists. Even better, I think our best two players 24 and under are Lewis and Day, neither of whom seem to be listed. I also think Weddell might have the most upside of all our kids and he doesn’t look like he’s listed here either. I’m sure those omissions are down to methodology etc but it’s certainly encouraging to see the talent emerging.

If he’s deemed to be ready to play a role that’s not already got someone sitting in it, sure. It would be great to see him get the opportunity.

Sam said that they wanted to give Scrimshaw a run of games, so DGB wasn’t going to take his spot.

With Sicily out the match committee have a decision to make on whether Frost or DGB are capable of filling the Sicily vacancy, and on experience and form it would be a big call to go with DGB over Frost(who is our clear second best intercept defender behind Sic, equal 40th in the comp).

Weddle is a few games off, but if he were included he'd be 1st in the 19 year old bracket.

Insane we've got as many players in those rankings as Gold Coast in spite of their selections being Picks 1, 2, 2 and Ballard a certified bargain at Pick 42.

OUT:
Bramble
Sicily

IN:
Ward
DGB

Maybe swap Butler with Mackenzie as sub.
Considering moving Day into the backline is what helped to turn the tide in the Port Adelaide game, if Sicily remains suspended for the next three weeks we may move Day back to play that role again and bring Long into the side.

Out:
Sicily (Suspension)
Bramble (Omitted)

In:
Ward
Long

Edit: I hope there will be no posts in shocked disbelief that I'm suggesting we put Day into the backline considering we did it for a half against Port and continued it for stages against Brisbane.

Day Ward long could pend time in defence

With Jiath set to return, omitting Scrimshaw makes no sense. The back six hasn’t had any continuity this year. The numbers suggest they play well together. Jiath has struggled when Scrimshaw has been out of the team and vice versa.

Will also give Day’s body a bit of a rest form the bash and crash in the middle of the ground given his sore ribs and sore shoulder last week as well.

If we bring in DGB for Sic, it leaves a KPD pairing of DGB and Blanck. There is so little experience here that it's an accident waiting to happen. It may do their development more harm than good.

We need Frost to replace Sic. Better the accident you know than the accident you don't know.
