Hurley only played the better part of a half, but at least he attacked the football and lead multiple times in order to consistently present an option and create space at the back, even when he was clearly injured.

And some of those were still shit. I can't believe I'm giving votes to a backline that conceded 20+ goals, but whatever. "Most Valuable Player" in a performance like that is kinda pointless.

Oh, an honourable mention to the second pitch invader. Gave us the most run we'd had all night.

I know it's a hard game to give votes in but 5 for Fletcher? He was awful.

Because votes are rated against the rest of the side, not against a players own past performances. He doesn't make my 5, but he was close. More so an indictment of how poor the side was rather than him playing well. Can ask the same about Fletch, how is he getting votes? He definitely had more clangers than Watson.

Good post. It's something that Watson is often penalized for in our MVP. There are games where he is quite obviously in our best 2 or 3 players yet people leave him out altogether because "he was below his best".

FWIW I would have had him in the best 5 purely because of his endeavor. It's one of those games where you give votes to the ones that had a decent crack at it.

Melksham, Hille, Howlett, Dempsey, Heppell, Hocking, Lonergan. Them and Watson are the only ones that had a decent crack. Maybe Carlisle too but his game is being overrated.

An example of not having a decent crack, look no further than NLM. Normally, the one thing he has going for him is his hardness. He was soft last night. I noticed 3 occasions where he went into a contest with one arm instead of putting his body over the ball.
