Throw Jones - Gresh in there add Byrnes & Connelly and more than covers Ross

Our list is still pretty imbalanced. We have **** all old guys left after this year. Geary nearly certainly retires.
Ryder, Geary, Frawley, Mc Kernan, Roberton, Carlisle and Hunter are our senior players over 29. Only Paddy likely to be playing regular footy next year.

Seb, Webster, Hill, Wood, Crouch and Kent are the only guys over 26 after that. As much as losing Seb sounds like he won't be missed, him and Web are the only guys drafted left in our senior core. We probably need a few guys for culture, experience and leadership that belonged at the club from day one.

Dunstan and Sincs the only 26 year olds left that we drafted. As much as a lot of the older guys aren't stars I think you need a few that came through or you get a mercenary culture.

I think Sebs lack of effort/care just going through the motions attitude does more damage to our culture

Not a rebuild but hoping for a bit of a reset in terms of types of players we have on our list. Loving the blokes that play with heart, guts & determination like Dunstan, Long, McKenzie & Ryder. How good was Long’s bump on Adams in the first? Almost killed him.
The Dunstan's, Long's and McKenzie's are relics of a bygone era of tryers. We have enough tryers who can also kick the ball without them and they're all only playing because of our outs. Who of them stays in when any 3 of Paton, Gresh, Jones, Clark, Hanners, Carlisle, Frawley, Coffield, Bytel et al. come back?
Answer? None.

The one good thing about that is that those old experienced guys tend to be pretty readily available for clubs that are looking for that extra experience.

And they’re not really “mercenary” types, as they’re already rich.

The Hodge/Lewis/Ryder/Stef Martin/Frawley types.

Remove Hanners, Carlisle & Frawley from the equation. None are best 25 going forward. Paton & Clark come in for possibly Highmore & Connolly. Gresh & Jones for Billings & Ross when they are traded. Battle & Coffield battling it out for 1-2 positions. See how Wood continues to perform. On paper we have decent depth when we have minimal injuries.

Thank the footy Gods we won!!

Shame that that last quarter took the gloss off what was otherwise a very good game. It seems like we just go into the last quarter in our shells and just try to hold on. No one running. Bombing and hoping. Defense looked very frustrated by the end of the game. We still look badly drilled, so many opportunities where we should get a shot on goal and we fluff it up.

The 1st 3 were very good. The defense held up immensely. Our mids bullied theirs, but were obviously lacking midfield depth with all our injuries. Could of probably mixed it up a bit more today tho.

Hill had a good game, but for me is a liability in defense I'd the other team gets going. I think a lot of defenders were pretty frustrated with him in the last. If we play him off hbf, I'd like to see him their when we have the ball and switch with a more defensive player when the opposition has it.

I haven't said it often, but Dmack had a good game. Looks a much better player ahead of the ball.

Bests for me on the eye: Steele, Spook, Wilkie, Byrnes, Hill

Still can't believe they bet $2.10 about us haha.

We need to pile it on in the last. No meandering to the finish line please.
It is unfortunate, we not just meandered, we stopped in the last quarter

Think everyone genuinely overvalues what we would actually get in trade value for Billings/Ross.
Do they think that other clubs don't see how sh*t they play on a constant basis? Like yeah we'll give you a 1st rounder for Billings because he was pick 3 eight years ago??

On the flip side, isn't the point of trading to try and improve your list? You don't get better by letting guys in your top 10 players go for picks in a range where you'd be lucky to get a player half as good. Can probably get picks like 30 and 40 by giving up much less.

Let’s get this out there ….sick of people saying he’s not being offered big dollars .he is.
Connors ( Billings Mgr ) has met with StKilda ..2 clubs have offered over $200 thousand
what StKilda have offered……restricted free agent .why he hasn’t signed fielding offers.
Little doubt Billings has played injured , majority of the year .
Hardly trains, most of the sessions only very very light , little or no participation in match simulation.

I think he tries, he's just limited. We have to have about 30 guys for depth. I'd keep him and hope others push him to the fringes, especially with Billings going out. You don't want to lose too much experience.

Poor old Harv's might be the first caretaker coach to get the arse.
He is not the only interim to not get the gig full time. He will of course last 9 games and probably realise he is not cut out to be head coach.

If we can get 2 first round draft picks out of Billings and Ross, it’s a no brainer... both on big wages and do not impact the games nearly enough.. bring in younger mids like Bynes and Bytel I’d say.. and keep Dunstan, just ask him to tag opposition best player and handball more than kicks..
In what universe do either Billings or Ross yield a first rounder?

Billings is playing injured. He should take a few weeks off and get better.

Surely that means we have 350k on the table? Seems fair.
