Voted for Charlie, Prior, Coleman, Berry and Answerth.

Answerth played a really good game. He was there to impact the contest, fight for groundball and put body on the line many times. I'll take this version of Answerth any day.

First quarter a worry. If we were up against Melbourne they wouldn’t have missed 7 of their first 8 shots on goal and would’ve beaten us up around the footy like the second quarter last week. Midfield was as bad as it gets

Midfield lifted a few minutes into the second and the pressure got to a good level. We also started to win the contested ball around the ground and get turnovers in dangerous areas to setup inside 50s in a manner to produce easier shots on goal and 1 on 1 contests inside 50.

Second half the bulldogs stayed down in the rooms.

Backline was awesome and the forwards worked really well together. Berry and Prior really stepped up in the midfield while Rayner and Bailey had shockers. Neale and Lyons had ok second half’s when the sting went out of the game

Prior has to come in if there’s an injury. Easiest move is to do what we did on the night and shift Ah Chee down back if Rich is injured or Berry on the ball if Zorko is injured.

If Rich and Zorko are out. Ah Chee down back, Prior wing and probably TBerry forward with Bailey and Rayner playing more midfield time

We also need to settle on Payne, Adams and Andrews for our defensive talls. Payne definitely helps Andrews play with more freedom to zone off. He has other good attributes like good field kick, pace etc. Some of the kicks Payne took last night lowering his eyes, no disrespect but I don't think Gardiner could do those.
Gardiner should be competing with Answerth for the small defender spot going forward. They both bring the same qualities and have similar limitations.

From 18 points down early in the 2nd quarter (4-5-29 v 1-5-11) we kicked 15-7-97 to the Dogs 5-8-38 and 2 of those Dogs goals were well and truly late junk time goals.:D:brisbane:

I must admit I was a tad worried at that stage of the game with the Dogs run.

Can anyone remember the exact time of the match when Kiddy laid that crunching tackle on the wing? I wish to rewatch it 30 times.
Bone cruncher, Trevor Gillmister style.
bit of a barometer for Kiddy.
See him tackle like that and you know he's on song.
Great to see Charlie and Linc playing up the ground deep in defense at times.
Although I remember Charlie doing a bit of this against melbourne , him and Linc more prevalent.
gave us more options getting out of their 50 .
Took me a while to notice Richy was off , we didn't struggle ,Kiddy was massive .

I thought he played well last Night. Took more marks than McStay and Daniher combined
Taking more marks than McStay isn't something that supports your contention that he played well.

Let's hope he kicks 5 next week, at thge start of good form, because we need him dominating if we want a flag

Didn't watch the game tonight as I was busy.

How was the umpiring? Was it even or did they favour the dogs?

Yeah I am still gutted with last season's semi final result as they favoured the dogs.

Milux , was it a convincing win?
I think we got the green with the umps.

Not sure it was convincing more so just happy to get some things right. Goal kicking a massive issue which is completely the opposite from the first half of the season. Needs to be fixed.

Andrews had his best game for a long time.

At the ground, Hipwood's movement was noticeably better. More agile and just a bit of spark about him. It looked obvious to me that they've given him two jobs right now - make a contest and contribute defensively. He was poor at both aspects last week but much improved this week.

He's nowhere his best but he at least contributed last night.

He has had 7 games now and hasn't had a kick and I am worried his knee has ruined him.

I hope I am wrong but I an starting to worry that he may never get back to where he was.

Coming back from an acl, his best footy was always going to be from next year and onward. This year is about building back the confidence in his body.

Hipwood's form is starting to turn I think. Getting more ball and more contests now. He'll kick 2-3 very soon.

Anyone notice McStays game? He did not want any body contact, it was horrible, he looked checked out.

Looked like a guy who knows his pay day awaits and doesen’t want an injury.

If he is truely gone, which tbh I’d be surprised with, I thought he would stay, then I do not want to carry him playing like he has the last 2-3 weeks.

I’m not talking about dropping him because he is leaving strictly, I doubt fages would do that, but we can’t carry him in a 3 tall set up, on form, playing like that.

I am also now firmly in the ‘he can go’ camp, he doesen’t do enough, often enough, to warrant a big contract. Rather spend that coin elsewhere, god knows we need it.

Whilst I am content this morning and very proud of the response, the defense through the middle of the ground, when the heat was on, was still atrocious in the first 1/4 and a half. A better team would have put us away with the 25 undefended entries we gave them early on.

Thank god for our backline, that’s all I’ll say.

It was effort based or mental, I dunno. But the vision you could go back and watch of our mids effort early (clearance and defence), would rival that on display vs the Dees.

Rayners effort defending and around the way was completely unacceptable.

We can’t expect perfection all game, but we cannot play like the Bombers/Roos for a 1/4 or a 1/2 of a game each week and expect to do well going forward as a contender.

We need to level out our worst.

Forward line is elite, back line is elite… it’s ALL about clearance and midfield and resistance between the arcs.

We need to just get those areas from a 3/10 up to a 6/10 and we’ll be back in the frame.

Prior and Ahchee add toughness I reckon, leave them in.

Especially Prior, big wrap for him after last night.

Coleman our most improved player, gun!

I know it’s very easy to say ‘when player X went down we looked better’ after a game where we won, but.. you could feel we were A LOT quicker and versatile across half back with kiddie, Answerth, Starc once Rich was off.

I’m not retiring him, but it’ll be interesting to see what a forced shake up does over the next few weeks with those 2 out.

It seems like we only give license to one defender to try and run forward and deliver and Coleman did an outstanding job at that when Rich went off.

I think it could be in our interest to mix things up a bit and instead of only ever using rich in this role change it up mid game a bit more. We can be a bit predictable in our structure at times and feel like if the players could be a bit more dynamic about their role we would be a more dangerous team.

Also for a team with a kicker as good as Rich coming out after kickins, he has been told to play very conservative. It might be the vision of things being harder to see out on the ground, but there were a few times where he could of kicked straight over the zone up the guts and we would of had players out the back easily. It was clear the dogs zone was sagging to the wings because they knew we weren't going to take the dangerous space up the middle of the ground.

Coleman one of the best tacklers in the game. Makes them stick every time no matter who he is tackling. He's a super kick as well. Great performance from Prior, played with a lot of passion and got a lot more of the footy. Tuntstill was great too. Good all round team performance.

A worry I had arose out of the start of the last quarter where they murdered us around the ball for the first few minutes.

The midfield needs to be improved. Matho has to be tried. Read the riot act to Lyons. he has to ger back to last season form. I would try Starc in there as well. Do something Fages. Think about it and then DO.

Would love to see Pryor and Tunstill own those wings, so that Berry can play inside more. Ah Chee looked solid rotating on the wing and defence, a handy player when he is on. Think his decision making has been solid of recent.

I don't see Matho (Career 8 CP, 3 CL) as the answer to Lyons (Round 16 9 CP, 6 CL). I think the answer is Berry or that he finds some form.

Excited to see Rich back with Coleman used more. We've looked predictable out of defence against top teams so adding another go-to option should be nice. Answerth solid too, strong runner and he used it to his advantage.

I'm feeling positive but will keep the lid on until we win at the MCG.

First quarter sucked, but four posters and losing your captain early don't help.

Soft tissue injuries mounting, and it's a worry. Bloody ageing.

I'm sure he will always be selected, but the risk of being one player down five minutes into a finals game is a worry.

Whatever the medicos say the time has now come for Zorks to get himself 100% right and not play him until he is.

He's been patched up all year and it's getting too late in the season to risk him being 70-80% in big games.

The way he took himself off with what he's described as a precautionary slight niggle indicates tat g=he was aware of something there in the first place.

Did anyone notice when Richy went off.
I think I recall him at his best and thumping it forward into our 1nside 50 zone.
Vintage richy and then probably at least another quarter I noticed him missing.
I wonder if it was that roost that twinged his hammy.
Was a great roost.
I'll have to watch the replay this week.
