I’ve got to get away from all you ferals on here.
I know. A week on the Gold Coast should do it.
Just as long as I don’t weaken and go online anyway

North Melbourne vs. St Kilda (BA)

North Melbourne:

The Roos made short work of a listless Pies outfit. They were harder at it all night and the Pies folded.

What are you looking at, b*tch? That’s right, keep walking.

Ben Cunnington was poised to dip as low as 550k with a starting price of 569k and a BE of 146, but he managed a spot landing, scoring 146 on the nose, and stood pat. With a BE of 132, he might shed a bit of coin, but he could just as well run amok and belt out a 150, so if you like the cut of his jib, you don’t have to hold off a week.

Big Toddy Goldstein wound back the clock and took it right up to Brodie Grundy, his 131 the just reward. His overall stat line wasn’t that remarkable, but his HTA rate was off the charts, with 11 of his 16 first half hitouts to the advantage of a teammate, which is bloody outstanding by any chalk.

Jack Ziebell is firing like a belt-fed mortar under Rhyce Shaw, relishing his revised role. He went for 121 and at 511k might be an option for Daniels owners who don’t have the kitty to stretch to a higher priced target.

Watch for Jed Anderson next year if he receives FWD eligibility and has an injury-free preseason.

St Kilda:

The Saints gave the Tigers a run for their money before fading late, big Rowan Marshall (570k, 57 BE) the star once more with a dazzling 161. He’s closing in on top 6 FWD status and would have been even better if he had received DPP. And if my aunty had a pair of balls, she probably wouldn’t be copping a Chrissie card from Izzy Folau, I guess.

As any professionally run club would do after unearthing a serious RUC prospect, the Saints logically are rumoured to be keen to throw money at a young buck coming off an ACL a multi-year deal and bring in the Golden Oldie to boot. Or, you know, they could just stick with the good thing they’re onto and…

Other than that, most SC-relevant Sainters had down days, Jack Billings surging late to finish on 76, Dan Hannebery finishing on 65 second up (probably not that big a deal, the second game back tends to be the hardest) and The Gresh Prince only just nudging up past 50.

Nick Hind was looking the goods with 53 at the half, but he failed to capitalize and faded to finish on 58, which is still a respectable effort for a rookie in a less SC-lucrative role.

GWS GIANTS vs. Brisbane Lions (SSGS) (T)

Your C fallback for a Grundy VC may come from this game with no De Boer to go to Neale and Josh Kelly in strong recemt form.

GWS:

Josh Kelly
copped some attention from Dylan Clarke after about the halfway mark of the second quarter and his score was respectable but not huge at 104. He’s still rocking a mint 125 5-rd avg, 121 on the season and with a juicy run home, if you do have 630k to spare, he could be the man to round out your midfield. He has a BE of 140-odd, so you can also hold off if you have other priorities this round.

Stephen Coniglio went for 102 to go into this round priced just under 550k with a manageable 94 BE.

Lachie Whitfield seems likely to return as scheduled. Currently 564k and with a 154 BE He’ll likely drop to around 520k over two weeks when he comes back, so is one to monitor for the final D slot. Leave him till next week if you can (some might be tempted just to sideways Caleb Daniel to him if they have the DPP to facilitate).

Zac Williams was the standout scorer for the Giants with a 126. At 537k with a 50 BE and a 3-rd average of 125, he is a really good buy on paper - as long as you have decent cover (e.g. SP Logue) if he misses.

Tim Taranto with 92, Jeremy Cameron with a 77 and Toby Greene with a 75 were all a bit subpar but not tragically so.

Brisbane:

Lachie Neale
(MID, 555k, 113 BE) rebounded from a disappointing 80 last week (apparently due in part to a virus, but tbh if you take the field, you declare yourself fit ) has a full-year average of 121 and belted out a 137 this week, making him a steal on paper if he can revert to his scoring groove on the run home.

Zorko the Magnificent has an SC- lucrative defensive side to his game that has seen him continue to gather momentum with a 112 5-rd avg and 120 over his last three outings. He was supreme value for those who grabbed him when he bottomed out in rd 6. He cleared his BE of 140 easily with a 155 and is up to 540k-odd.

Daniel Rich (491k) aka T Rex has a consistency to his output which was lacking in past years, thanks in part to the new kick-in rules and in part to not having to worry about copping any attention in a stacked Lions outfit. His 98 ticked the boxes without being spectacular.

“People don't realize how a premo's whole season can be altered by a single rule change.” ― Malcolm Rex

Harris Andrews was disappointing with a 66, plummeting to 440k with a BE of 139. Andrews lives and dies on contested marks, spoils and one-percenters and has more volatility to his scoring than a small defender. If you can grab him under 420k, he might be worth a punt, but not one to grab for much more than that.

Have a feeling this round is significant with those coaches willing to take punt on moving on injured premos potentially being amply rewarded

Fortune favours the brave?

Or the coaches who hold their nerve are eventually rewarded after the panic merchants have run out of trades and the late rounds carnage begins.

Wait. You're going to the Gold Coast to get away from ferals?!

I bloody hope I get some benefit out of trading Cripps, cos no doubt it will cost me later.

I'd say my strategy this year was to prioritise cover over the best on-field premos, while at the same time aggressively trade out injured guys. So it's a bit of a hedge, I reckon I could have a tough last few rounds.

How many trades left?

How many trades left?

Three. With ROB -> Grundy this weekend, or maybe next weekend, taking me to two. After that trade I'd have $65k.

That leaves the following cover:

Logue/Gardner
Clarke/Hind/Owies
Bines
Worpel(or Lycett, Cameron)/Young

Could be fine or could be ****ed depending on injuries from here.

Wait. You're going to the Gold Coast to get away from ferals?!

I live in the western suburbs of Melbourne
I’m sure the sights would be much better on the GC

GO. TIGERS!!!

Nelso Westhoff likely to come back in?

Hoping Gawn is out and others are copping donuts while big brain geniuses like Here2tellyouwhy and myself get to back in The Hoff for a glorious 60~ point game
