Team:

Docherty, Adams, Shaw, Hibberd, Newman, Lloyd (Ryan, McNiece)
Danger, Neale, Treoloar, Pendlebury, S. Selwood, Fyfe, J Kennedy, Mitchell (Greenwood, Witherden, Cousins)
Ryder, Kreuzer (Strnidica)
Billings, Greene, Heeney, Mcrae, Dalhaus, Nankervis (Hannan, Brown)

6 trades left $260K in the bank.

Before the week Nank to Gawn was a lock, but with his 100 I think he stays. Thinking Gawn to Hannan, move Billings to the Mids, swing Ryder forward with $70K left. However this leaves me short to attend to the issue of Fyfe & S.Selwood. Eying off J. Selwood & Parker as potential upgrades. Worried about going into finals with to few trades left......Any suggestions would be great :)

Those going Darcy, what is the selection purpose?

Didn't think he'd be the obvious option for most teams, more for those with enough trades and low on cash, but prob missing something.(Thought he was good, not shitcanning him)

9 trades left + 119k

Hannan - > Gawn via Ryder
Stewart (Gee) -> Bayok via Witherden

Leaves me with 7 trades and 157k to go
SPP -> Jelwood in 2 weeks

Because I like to take risks and I don't have many trades left :(

I reckon Darcy can average 100 from here on in now that he is the number one ruckman.

Not convinced that Gawn can pump out the 150's that everyone is expecting from him in the back half of the season. He is still a month away from getting back to full match fitness.

I would rather trade Witts to Darcy and pocket the $360k and spend it elsewhere.

You really reckon Darcy will average 100?

OK, that was also my impression. Wait and see, I guess.

Yeah, it's all a bit odd. It was announced on SEN that he'd done a bad hammy, had to be helped off the field, and would be out for 4 to 6. Then later that day Giants said he'd rolled an ankle and would be tested, hopefully okay. Then he was ruled out and somewhere yesterday (can't find it now) he was listed as 4 to 6.

It is possible when you look at who he is coming up against for the rest of the season.

"cooked" Goldy
Eagles have no decent rucks
McEvoy
Mummy
Witts who is now carrying a bung shoulder
Swans with no credible ruckman
Nank - who could be burnt out by then with the long season
Bellchambers - who is a spud

Not out of the realms of possibility that Darcy could get to that 100 pt average.

And let's look at Gawn's opponents

Kreuzer
Jacobs
Ryder
Goldy
Mummy
Longer
Stef
Grundy

I know Gawn is the best ruck in the comp but being out for 3 months of the season is a tough ask to come back from and his list of possible ruck opponents is far tougher than what Darcy has to face.

Plus in my case I will be much better off points wise as I am going to do the following:

Witts and Mountford to Darcy and Zerrett

The combo of Darcy and Zerrett are going to score way more points than the combo of Witts and Mountford.

Thoughts Guys..?

Sandi to Nank to Free up cash so I can go Miller to Franklin

or

Sandi to Darcy / Nank & Hannan/Miller to Witherden to free up cash for 2 big trades next week?>

Currently have 9 trades

Ruck cover so I don't have to move Nank/Ryder & field Parsons :p :p :p

Nank -> Darcy allows me to turn Stewart into Doc... who i sorely miss. Go for it ?
Or downgrade someone else and settle for no Doc and a 450-500,000ish defender.

The Gawn one is definitely thorny. Currently going him, but he'll be up against quality rucks for the most part and down Jones/Viney/Tyson to work with maybe, so it's not a certainty.
In terms of funding some genuine upgrades, for those with surplus trades, Darcy can be a good option, I reckon. Bloody interesting fork in the road it's thrown up :thumbsu:

Geez, Witts > Darcy frees up a lot of cash to spend on other lines.

It's a risk, but if Witts' shoulder really is an issue it might be a good time to move him on. Could then turn Parsons into Dusty via Billings fwd.

Would leave:
Billings/Greenwood F6/7
Watson/Scooter M8/9
Tuohy D7
3 trades and $318k left.

Alternatively could go Witts > Darcy and Ryan > Witherden:
Witherden def/mid swing with Hibberd. Tuohy D7.
Billings mid/fwd with Greenwood/Deluca. Scooter/Watson M8/9
Parsons D7
$770k to splash on those final 3 trades.

Alternatively, could just go Parsons > Neale or Cripps. Some thinking to do.

Doc is a must have.

I did not start with him as I thought he would come down in price. It is never going to happen.

Max Gawn:

R16: Carl (Kruezer)
R17: Adel (Jacobs)
R18: PA (Ryder)
R19: NM (Goldy)
R20: GWS (Mumford)
R21: St K (Longer)
R22: Bris (Martin)
R23: Coll (Grundy)

Jones out 4-5 weeks, Viney + Tyson injured on the weekend, Brayshaw out indefinitely, Salem 3-4 weeks... Can Oliver carry the entire midfield load himself?

Think I just convinced myself not to get him...

Gawn is more than capable of smashing out massive scores against the best rucks in the comp. I don't think looking at his opposition gives a good read on his scoring potential.

However, these two points...

Certainly points for discussion. Who are melbourne midfielders going to be if Viney and Tyson are out? Oliver, Lewis, Vince, Petracca, Hannan? Just doesn't fill me with much cobfidence

Worth trying but IMO you need plenty of trades to take the risk. If Darcy doesn't average 95+ you will need to use another 2 trades to upgrade him at some point.

Some good points above re Gawn. Don't think the opposition matters, more the fact that he's coming back from injury and their injured main mids

I'm bringing in a ruckman. Gawn leading at the moment, but still considering Mummy, Jacobs and Grundy
