Every time we've played a side a second time the result has improved a LOT for us.

GC beat us twice but we still did a lot better the second time.

Cats have some good chess pieces on the board but we are a different team now. We've plugged the big holes so I don't think we will be blown away.

I think we will win.

I hope it's a good game and our boys continue to show the improvement we've seen over the last month. It's been a big week at the club with hodge announcing his retirement along with his 300th game, so I hope today isn't a let down and that the boys don't fall flat from the expectation

Not expecting a win but hope is a wonderful thing

All the best Luke

Have you been wrong this year

You were a little ambiguous with GWS and we drew. So in a way you got that

Argy has form too.

Been sick all week but there is no way that is stopping me from being there today.

Today we celebrate a champion of our club. There have been many wonderful things said about Hodgey this week, lots of comparisons on 2001 draft class and the other great hawks of this era. For me though what stands out has been his ability to make the team he plays in better.

Today I am sure that the team will stand tall, I am sure it will be epic and I am sure at the end Hodgey will be wearing a cheeky smile.

Go hawks

Doc with another defensive forward role on Tuohy.
Howe on Dangerfield.
Mitchell to go head to head with Selwood.
Brand on Hawkins.
Heatherly on Taylor.
Burton on whichever third tall is there at the time.
Hodge and Sicily to provide 3rd man up support.
Hardwick on their most dangerous small, Motlop?
Smith/Gunston to run with Blicavs at different stages.

I must admit I haven't watched alot of Geelong this year, so I'm interested in others' opinions.

If we play our game, lowering the eyes as we go inside 50, we will win.
Unfortunately, many of our players tend to panic and go the long-looping kick, giving Geelong ample time to get back and create a triangle around the contest (something they've done since 2007)

Also, a reminder that it is NOT a replacement game, so get there early or reserve a seat

We need to attack/target their strengths like they have done to us so often.

Howe on Danger with instructions to niggle the hell out of him. Shiels on Selwood with same instructions. Duryea on Tuohy and Langers on Mackie to make him accountable.

I hope Parsons and Menagola get a warm reception from some of our experienced players.

Hate these pricks more than Essendon and even if we don't win I want to see them hurt.

I think you will find that they will put a hard tag on Tommy Mitchell and I suspect it will be Scott Duckwood.

In fact I am tipping the Duckwood brothers to try and break the world record for receiving free kicks today.

Season defining game.
Get the Chocolates & we are a serious chance to make the 8 with a "dark horse" chance in September.

The kids will only gain more resolve & determination the longer the season goes.

Really like the match ups & feel that Dangerwood mitigating will win the game. Howe, Langford & Stewart will have a lot to work on to pull it off!

Time to make a statement Kade Stewart!!!

Burton to punch through the winning point on the siren.
Please let it be two seconds before the siren. I'm not sure the nerves could stand it otherwise!

I can't remember being this happily excited for a home & away clash in quite a while . Even with past Geelong games, so often the emotion was of grim anticipation as we were in the clutches of a nasty streak, needing a win to stay top of the ladder, or some such scenario. Today, it's all for Hodgey! A good result is pure cherry on top of rich creme. That creme being our Field General, our hawk-eyed warrior, our Premiership captain, our Hodgey! Today is to honour this gallant Hawk. I can't wait to stand and cheer!

If Hawkins kicks the sealer on the siren I'll go mental
In fact, I'd like to see Smith kick the sealer today. Also a great pity that it's a Cats home game for Hodgeys 300. The occasion won't get the pregame attention it deserves.
Although win or lose I'd expect a guard of honour at the end of the game by both clubs as I'm sure there's much respect (and mateship like Danger and Selwood) by both great rivals.
Normally I'd say Cats by about 5 goals but I reckon this could be really close.

Can't wait for today.

I'm sick of looking at Joel selwood on my fridge every morning with my sons auskick certificate. Hope we can knock the smug look off his face and 'pinch one'.......again
