is it time for a few positional changes to freshen things up?

Our forward pressure has been diabolical - should we chuck CJ and Impey up there?

Chuck Breust up around the ball to add some spark? Jai off hb with license to pump it forward?
Put Ward and Finn in the guts and Morris at hb (who’s a good kick).
Swap Kosi and Lewis with Lewis leading up the ground rather than double teamed deep).

Hardwick Blanck Scrim
Jai Sicily Morris
Bramble Breust Morrison
CJ Lewis Moore
Impey Kosi Butler
Reeves Mitchell Ward
I: JOM Finn McDonald Shiels

You know what was stupid tho, recontracting someone mid leg break, that’s a charity deal and not one a team does if they are trying to win
I think you are being a bit harsh on the club and Mitchell here CHUBBSS.

I know he hasn't been the same player since he broke his leg but he did win our B&F last year (and finished second in 2020) so he has still continued to be a very strong and consistent contributor.

Tom Mitchell has been the least of our worries these last 5 years. In fact could you just have imagined the state of our midfield/team if he hadn't been there!

That lack of harshness is what turns clubs into basket cases for years to come.

Mitchell should always have tried to extend but for the club to recontract mid leg break on what I assume is around 700-800 a year which is premium for us is ridiculous.

Mitchell is a huge worry, his disposals are junk and further hurt the team with how he plays. I don’t see any positives in his game anymore

Tom actually took a decent pay cut on his annual salary for the extra two years security

I'll be pissed if we don't challenge it.

Still not happy we didn't challenge the Worpel suspension last season.
I'll be pissed if we challenge and use our usual lawyers.....as much as I hate to say it....."Get the Geelong guy!"

leads the clearances and is 3rd for score involvements in spite of taking a backseat for the young mids to come through. His contested possession to uncontested ratio is the highest it's ever been too

his kicking sucks but 'no positives' is a serious stretch lol

Unless there are some sore players after the wet slog, I can see us making minimal changes. We cant keep rotating so many each week.

What id like is Day and Worpel out along with Impy omitted. He is just not right ATM.

In Ward, Finn and Morris - reward for performance. I am assuming Chad still not available. Sheils remains sub.

Id like Morris to get a reasonable run of games just to see if he can make the step up.

Not much point in getting the ball if it’s burned or results in a turnover

For a club that signed Tyrone Vickery for 3 years on $500k a year (let’s never forget that one) I don’t know why you are so upset that we are paying a 3 time B&F winner and Brownlow Medal winner $750k (or thereabouts) a year?

I understand your critiscim of his influence this year (I share a similar concern) but overall since he was re signed he has still been one of our top two players )up until this year at least) and earnt his pay check.

The only hawk player to get coaches votes this week must be doing something positive

Yep. The criticism is Mitchell is getting way over the top. That he’s leading the clearances despite being in secondary role highlights he’s not the issue. 3rd in score involvements shows he’s still having an impact in our attacking chains. His DE is 68% which isn’t shocking. He’s still far and away our best mid and if was playing in his primary role he’s look a lot better.

Also got two coaches vote on weekend (only hawks player to do so). So either one coach thought he was 4th best on ground or both though was 5th best. What would the coaches know?

Bad luck to worpel. Could be last we see of him in hawks colours.

A good opportunity for Ward and Finn to get inside mid minutes.

Will Day chose the wrong week to bump. AFL will be making statements, hopefully, after Tom Stewart's bump.

Zero chance of it getting off. Two weeks ago... probably a fine.

Last we see of him?

Spare me opinions dressed as factual statements

He isn't going anywhere
Good to hear.

Send him in for surgery now. Nothing to gain by trying to play out this season. Get him right for a full pre-season.
