Autopsy Round 18, 2020: St.Kilda v GWS *MARSHALL 50TH*

I really can't get over how we controlled that game after half time.

Sure it was set up for us, GWS just had to attack, no tempo football.

We won't come across that gamestyle in the finals, but that type of win gives us confidence.

We have another game lads. A weekend to relax watching footy, then a couple of weeks to take it easy.

The fast track of the team from lockdown and hub will be invaluable in the years to come. The winning away, the two wins in Adelaide, it will hold us in very good stead.

Wait to see this team tear opposition teams apart in longer games under the lid.
I’m liking your new, post-win optimism, Joff 😏

We've just made finals, despite having one of the very youngest and least experienced teams each week, despite only having one sort-of home ground advantage all year (v Richmond at Marvel)- and none with a home crowd advantage- and despite losing 4 games by a goal or less.

I said it during the gameday thread that it was our young players that led the way tonight, Marshall, Sinclair, Coffield, Clark, Howard, Long, King and Lonie.

Some of our senior guys were good at times too like Ryder, Hill. Steele, Geary, Membrey and Carlisle but it was our young brigade that stood up tonight.

Hill was great tonight, lived up to his price tag, worked the outer wing to perfection, helped out the half backs and then set up the half forwards for goals.

Yeah...Steele was good at times..

King was a genuine contributor tonight in what was a final pretty much . Loved his game except the misses .
Also you can tell after the game just how united this club is .
It wouldn’t be going unnoticed by All the other players up there .
Also Lenny Hayes beginning his long journey back to moorabbin.
Great all round .

Great win almost spoilt by an appalling commentary.

How good was Dougals effort to get back to save that goal - but barely rated a mention from the muppets.

Did anyone else notice Gears right thigh - f*** what a mess - nobody should ever doubt his commitment to the club.

Only 2 games we weren't in in the final 2 minutes.

You'd think a more experienced side would win a few more of those.

It's been a bloody good improvement from where we were last year.

I think people forget quickly we were a bottom 5 side with a poor percentage last year.

Loved Doogs reversing the 2010 GF replay goal square smother ... it was a sign!

Fairytale is on point except for the Pies still being in finals.

But yes, it'll take the AFL screwing something up and us being on the receiving end, since I'm adamant our second causes the implosion of AFL house into a professional outfit built on integrity.
Hopefully the Pies travel to WA

We're gong to have a formidable midfield for our first final with Steele, Hannebery, Zac Jones. Robert Harvey Jnr (Sinclair), Clark, Billings and Seb Ross.

We bat deep.

Imagine if we had Gresh.

Unbeatable.
