Also, why do we have no hopers as our deputy assistant line coaches?
Luke Kelly
Hamish Hartlett
Matt Lobbe
Tyson Goldsack

Is that the best we can do?

Who is a top four side other than Collingwood? Sydney?

Melbourne looked as bad as we did yesterday against Brisbane and was assisted by that blackout where Brisbane had shut up shop.

Carlton struggled against a completely crocked Geelong while Richmond struggled against Adelaide who probably would have won if they didn’t play in oppressive conditions the week before. Neither team gives confidence that they would have done any better against Collingwood than we did.

Fremantle and Western Bulldogs are 0-2 after both lost to St Kilda and Fremantle lost to North Melbourne (the Dogs lost to Melbourne which isn’t that big a deal).

If this team is decent it won’t let what happened against Collingwood in contested possession happen again. You can lose contested possession but losing it by 50+ is a complete disgrace and shows that our boys got ahead of themselves after beating Brisbane. I’m confident it won’t happen again.
Was fully with you until that last sentence

What do you think was happening in the midfield Macca? Lack of concentration, effort, intensity or just outplayed by much better opposition?

All of the above. Shit positioning, shit attitude, shit effort

"Wet behind the ears" coach who we could've got if we'd pulled the trigger after the 2021 PF debacle instead of doubling down on Donuts, tears him a new one on the big stage despite Hinkley assembling the best squad he's ever had over his 11 year unquestioned incumbency.

Nah.

This tackle was called high in the first quarter:

Now in this passage of play, this tackle didn’t make a difference as Collingwood had the advantage…but in the wider picture calling this tackle as “high” when it clearly wasn’t set a precedent for the game that said “Don’t bother trying to tackle Collingwood players, we will just give them a free kick.”

Message received.
Don't want to burst your bubble, but the same tackle from a different angle:

I was at the game and said to my mate that the players efforts were so bad, you expect to find out the next day that half the team had gastro or the flu the night before. We know Ken's no tactician but I thought he was a guru man motivater? My ass.
when it's a handful of players off, that's on them, if it's the majority of the team, that's on the coach/es. If you think otherwise, you are thick as two bricks.

Clearly, we beat Brisbane, exhaled a huge sigh of relief and then played in our own bath water all week long. Nothing surer.

I was not saying that Collingwood aren't a good team. They clearly are. Maybe even the best in it.

But the pro Hinkley mafia will use that as a reason to tick off on there being nothing wrong with that performance yesterday, as though everyone will lose to Collingwood by 71 points. Don't worry, Hinkley is still amazing, Port are still amazing. We aren't, we're terrible and he's terrible.

Yeah, I simply didn’t understand this. Why would they do that? It makes no sense to me and as a Collingwood supporter I thought it very poor form indeed. Just not necessary. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season
It would be like us booing some player cos he left the crows?

🤔 ****... Would be booing people nearly every week lol

We are what we all thought we were.

We are a soft team. We don't like playing at max throttle. We like to play low pressure, outside footy. Our team for years has wanted to take the foot off the throttle whenever the opportunity arises, it's just our style. Lots of players that play with a calm lack of intensity that when they try and match an opponents rise, they just can't, they go to water, make bad decisions, look reactive and fumble under the pressure.

We have a really poor defence. Forget the ball coming in easy, even when it isn't we are just to easy to score against. Our forward press style, where we do usually control a lot of territory, masks a defensive group that is just not good at defending. And when we play good sides like Collingwood, they transition the ball through our press with ease. Whenever our press is broken through easily we basically give up goals every time.

We struggle to score. 43% of entries scored, they had 61%.
We've seen it all preseason as well, and saw it in the first half against Brisbane.

I'm not going to hold back on that umpiring though, can't remember seeing anything like it, just anything even possibly open to interpretation was given to them. Many, many of them should've been let go, but ah well, we still wouldve lost.

What I've learnt so far is that there's been zero change from last year. It's the same partially motivated team with a poor game style that won't take us anywhere. We've played one really good quarter all season, the 3rd against the Lions, apart from that there are real concerns emerging everywhere.

Right now I would think the showdown is truly 50/50. The Crows have shown more good signs through the last few weeks than we have. They've shown some holes, but they've put on more than 1 good quarter like we have.
