When I watch Sinn play I do wonder how he looked when playing TAC Cup or whatever U18s is called these days. At AFL level he just has so few attributes that scream, trade up for me, anoint me the 18th (?) best kid in the country.

He's the backline version of Mead to me. Probably good enough to hold his spot in an AFL team most weeks but if someone better comes along he'll be out of the team immediately. The word vanilla comes to mind.

Liked Chad's presser yesterday.
Not sure if he'll ever be a good coach.
Don't know if he's the source of club "leaks" to media or not.

But doesn't, and never has, called a spade a feather duster.
Generally honest in his assessments.

Admitting that performance was woefully poor.
Loved him stating that after a sh!t game like that, the supporters and media will have a lot of opinions and say lots, and that "so they should" be able to do so, which is a welcome change.
Said that the club and players need to expect that, and basically suck it up, then respond on the ground.

Was always a player who gave everything and never left anything out on the ground.
Wore his heart on his sleeve as a player and Maggie's coach.

Honestly I think the biggest concern we have is Mitch G. He looked absolutely garbage. It looked 100% mental. He isnt even remotely switched on or running like he did last year. When the ball hit the ground he would barely walk or apply pressure.

Looked totally like a dude marking time for Hinkley to **** off.
He's copping the best defender now, it'll be a lot harder for him this year.

Say what you want about Dixon and Marshall, but they attracted a defender. This week Georgiades had no one else.

While Lord,Soldo,Visentini looked on.

Mead was rated the 8th best player on the ground (Port and Coll) according to the super secret Player Ratings.

Might not mean anything to us but I'm sure the football department treats it as gospel.

Either way there are plenty of players to drop before him, and not many to bring in.

Jones definitely needs to get dropped for that performance but I have not totally given up on him yet, there are some attributes.

Have been a fan of Mead but like others have pointed out, is an honest plodder - there are no outstanding factors in his game, eg speed, elite disposal etc.

Finlayson can't play forward and we saw he can't play back. Does he have the tank to play a Richardson-type wing role? If not I think he is cooked.

To be fair to SPP, it feels ridiculous he is out there already without some decent SANFL minutes. He's not that good to just go straight back in 10 months after a knee.

Could easily see him given more SANFL time this week.

The clear selections of interest would have to be Esava and Lord though. We need some hardness in the tall forward dept and a key back. Maybe Fin survives and goes forward, but that balance of Fin, Luko and George sounds terrible after what weve seen last week.

I genuinely think we do need someone up forward that attacks the ball aerially despite us trying to move the ball differently (trying being the key word because I didnt see anything different against Pies).

And with us needing a 2nd ruck as well (no we can't have Wines rucking), I think we are missing a trick by not playing Visentini. He attacks the ball well, when he does have a set shot he's perhaps one of our better kicks and he's developing well in the ruck. I'd try him over Esava, Soldo or Lord up forward. If it isnt Visentini, I am trying Whitlock. Wasn't a fan of drafting him tbh but we have to get games into these guys. I am fine missing finals this year IF we get games into guys like Visentini, Cochrane, Lorenz, Whitlock and Moraes. What would be terrible is if we miss finals and dont give games to these guys and instead feature Mead, Boak, Finlayson, Jones and Esava (Boak is fine for now but more from a perspective of long-term, dont see the point of him playing every game if we aren't making finals).

The other thing that we need to start doing (and many have been saying this for years) is kicking the ball flatter inside 50. Houston was awesome at this for us. Idk how an AFL coach doesn't know this already, but its much easier to mark a ball in front of you rather than on top of you
