That was okay, but I really miss the close ones.

We just can’t keep winning those, JB. We just can’t. Can not. Negative. No.

Because reasons.

But anyway if we get in a close one I’ll let you know.

19 goals against Geelong and 21 goals against Port, two of the better sides in the comp. They’re certainly not bottom four sides.Who would have thought our forward line would be so potent without a dominant key forward?Amazing.
With modern defences, you can't separate and isolate your kpfs anymore for them to kick bags. It just isn't going to work consistently. Modern defences will pick it off in the air and rebound. You need workhorses to jump in packs - take the occasional mark, but mainly bring it to ground for the smalls to go to work.

Update from the MCG - fine for pitch invasion - "up to $11, 075.20" - must be indexed to price of Singapore Crude....

“Up to 11” it must be Robbo’s Singaporean counterpart.

Tad over 50 that day. A. Rocca's Collingwood debut. Buck's took a hanger. The guy from Hooty and the Blowfish tossed the coin. Ian Downsborough got knocked out and looked dead. Sadly, Lee Walker's last game as a Pie

Darius Rucker! Great voice. Don’t mind me some Hootie.

As shown in real statistics.

While there is “fun” gambling such as the poster and his beer carton bet with his Carlton mate ( how can any who follows Carlton even be a mate confuses me) because it doesn’t involve losing your house or not being able to get your weekly groceries.
Unfortunately losing employment, houses and not being able to feed your family is not uncommon when caught in the gambling bug.
So maybe as an all ages forum the posting of the occasional win isn’t really appropriate.

AFL should drop the sponsorship, but criticism of someone telling a story about gambling is just rubbish.

Of course it has the potential to be addictive and damaging, but so do so many other things. Just got to educate rather than nanny

i reckon he holds his spot until lipinski is fit

The problem with this is - Lipinski cant play as a defender. Nor take overhead Contested marks on the wing.

WHE and Lipinski are completely different players and fulfil very different roles. I’d say a fit Adams and Mitchell are the ones Lipinski is competing with.

So who actually can play the self sacrificing role WHE plays? I’d say no one.

The kms he travels for minimal possessions is phenomenal. The strength of WHE is he is a genuine utility that can cover injuries and play fwd, mid and back and runs all day.

You may be right, and WHE is replaced down the track or made the sub, especially if form drops.

But if WHE, and the rest of the team keep playing like the last two weeks, Lipinski, Howe and Ginnivan gonna have to get used to playing VFL for the rest of 2023.

It’s a fantastic problem to have going forward. Players motivated to perform as they’ve got VFL players desperate to come up to AFL level.

Allan was the clear stand out for me today vs Coburg that could possibly perform a utility role. Though he’s unlikely to have WHEs smarts nor running capacity as a rookie.

I’ve more faith in Allan being able to be a genuine utility and take a Contested overhead mark on the wing than a mid/HF like Lipinski.

When's the last time he played defence?

He gives us a good hit up target when he chops out on the wing and a competent forward when he plays there. You could pretty easily bring in Reef and have him, Hill and Elliott play some wing time as well as their forward work, if you want that hit up target that he offers.

Over 60,000 in attendance.

Phenomenal by our supporters.

100% agree. Best pies turnout against an interstate club for a home and away team. This was ports biggest ever home and away crowd too.

Even more phenomenal was that there would have been no more than 2,000 port fans at the game. Our next three MCG games will draw huge crowds

V Richmond 88 k
V Essendon 90 k
V Sydney 70-75 k (Sydney will draw 10-15,000 of there own fans due to south Melbourne connections)

A terrific team performance from a team playing a terrific brand of football.

Well done to all involved and a special mention to Mr. Hine who finally has a coach in McRae that allows the players he identified to play in a manner that is both great to watch and no doubt fun to play.

Amazing what happens when you allow senior footballers the freedom to display the talents that got them drafted in the first place.

Carlton Melbourne Port Adelaide North Geelong and Richmond haven't had any problems getting big elite forwards to kick bags... It really just depends on your ball movement and finding them one out. If you move the ball like we do defences don't have time to set up and you often get 1 on 1 contests.
