Really nothing has changed has it?

I fear for next year and beyond. No depth, Dixon, Lycett cooked, Marshall Finlayson offering little.

There was something on the line last night, Ken was asked pre game about other results going our way and we have a lot to gain, he sidetracked the question, does this guy ever embrace anything?

Lose to Geelong and the noise will grow again,I think we could actually lose the next 3.
I fear we may not win another game.

What I really can't deal with is how we let the Racist put seven away and win the medal. We know that stopping him is the biggest step to stopping them - other sides have done this successfully. We didn't even bother - so often he was exactly where he needed to be completely unhindered by any hint of defence.

We are so badly coached. If only we had a thread to discuss that...

EDIT : bloody autocorrect...
Our defence is crap
Alir is not an accountable defender

Three weeks in a row where the opposition have come at Port really hard. Time for hard calls. Trim out the deadwood. Narkle into the middle, Lord up forward. Bonner for some outside run and penetration. Outs are fairly obvious. Wines, Boak, McEntee. Time to go taller up forward. DBJ sub for Rioli.

  • It is very easy to be a knocker; it is time to look for some positives.
  • Geelong had two major hamstring problems yesterday: Hawkins and Mark Blicavs.
  • Ironically, the rest of our season is as brittle as Lycett's knee.
  • If Lycett plays next week I predict we will win, otherwise we continue to wreck our forward line by playing Charlie & Jeremy in the ruck.
  • We all know some players did not train because of the flu.
  • Another plus is Rioli will be back for Geelong.
  • We all have our views on INS & Outs with little form guide from the Magpies yesterday.
  • Stop playing Wines & Boak on the wing and bring in someone who has experience in that position, Bonner, Dumont or both.
  • SPP is out of sorts and will not handball; give him a burst at the centre bounce.

Nothing positive to take from that. The club failed both the fans and the players last night. They failed the players by letting a clearly concussed player back on the ground and subbing the other one out with a "migraine" just so they might play next week. They are in full desperation mode and if by some miracle we scrape through to a GF, it will be 2007 all over again.

Of course, the club has been failing the supporters ever since they extended Ken in 2017, but to cough up two showdowns against that Crows team in a year where we likely finish top 4 just shows a feeble mentality permeating through the players. There are players who you know are in it for the warm feelings and content to just make finals, but there are others who are quite clearly born winners (Rozee, JHF, Houston, SPP). If they extend Hinkley after this season, don't be surprised when those players either walk to other clubs (could see Rozee eventually joining Carr if he goes to Richmond) or become perennial losers themselves just like their coach.

Shame on me for thinking that this year was going to be any different during the streak.

Everyone says Carr is in charge. So whose accountable?

Also Kane Cornes was right after all wasn’t he?
We can't have it both ways. I believe Carr has been match day coaching since R4. So he's very much involved in this loss imo. I also believe the players have lost their drive which was based on saving Kens job. Think this task has exhausted them both emotionally & physically. Think we're cooked.

Some hard calls have to be made it we are going to be serious this year and get back into some form.

Boak is finished as an AFL footballer. It’s hard to accept, he’s been a champion but we can’t keep selecting him on his previous output. He’s offering nothing and even Bonner would be having greater output over him.

Same for Wines, he just has to be dropped. Offered below nothing all year. If he’s not fit, get him out of the side to do a month block/refresh before finals.

Our forwards were absolutely pathetic last night. That’s with them missing Murray, Butts being subbed early and their only other key defender being a random Irish guy. Yet we still couldn’t get on top of them with more inside 50s. Lost count of how many times all our tall forwards again jumped for the same ball. No separation, no leads and no effort from any of them. At the point of dropping 1 and playing an extra small with Rioli back in.

The midfield got killed by a bunch of slow old guys. Not sure what happened there and thought Dante was solid for a young ruck.

Not wanting it to be an excuse for our rat schizen performance but it certainly looked like half the team was sluggish or recovering from a flu type thing. Heck Fins nose was as red as Rudolph in a clear indication he was certainly sick.

How have our forward entries gone from elite, with multiple leading options and lowered eyes kicking to advantage of the forwards to continually bombing in with no thought?

You can’t say pressure on the ball forcing it, multiple times we were running under no pressure and just bombed it as far as we could.

It is beyond belief the turnaround..

On the AFL website Round So Far they showed our forward 50 entries from the third quarter. All long bombs into congestion. So far removed from when we were playing well. We can all blame our tall forwards but its not always the personnel its also the method.

There is no point playing Wines unless he is in the middle. He has to be played there or traded. And please do something in the off season about our KPD depth.

They parked the bus and we fell right into it and then they took off. All night we dump kicked it 20m out to a flood of players, would have been better to kick it along the ground.

their pressure was too much and we applied nothing to them, they are an ordinary side, and we let them play their game style.

**** I’m angry this morning.. beaten badly by an ordinary side I hope they required for a Sunday morning 5am sess.

My take is the match last week, v the Magpies, torrid hard, wet track, hot pressure, knocked both Port and the Pies for six, both struggled the week later, one of main reasons we were so down against the Blues.
It's a fair comment and relevant in July but in September, not acceptable under any circumstance.

Finals are next level and you may have a string of these games to face.

Jay is one very bitter former player. Probably very justified. Wonder how often he was sent back on or cleared to play the next week when he shouldn’t have been.
He should be the way he was treated on a variety of fronts. He's advocating for player welfare & has every right to given his circumstances.

Finlayson farked me off the most of the lot. Just a very very selfish performance, constantly looking for cheapies instead of doing the team thing.

Vinsentini a highlight, Drew good, Butters & Rozee tried. Even Charlie redeemed himself somewhat and showed effort.

Jez, * mate.
Fin has looked like a man with other things on his mind since the bye.

If we want to maximise our current squad then it's clearly best for us to play Wines in the midfield and for JHF to get very little midfield time and play mostly up forward or on a wing. But for future development, it's obviously important to give JHF midfield time. I think this is a dilemma that was never in the planning from a list management perspective but has been thrust on us by acquiring JHF unexpectedly.

I fear we may not win another game.

If it means Donuts is gone then so be it. Seriously to be handed our arse in BOTH games yesterday with our coaching panel dominated by

barnacles Chadbro and Bass it's gobsmacking we can be made to look so dysfunctional. We're going nowhere but also-rans.

On a brighter note thought Dante did alright.

It’s definitely important to discuss head trauma and show concern but when crows supporters come on here pretending they give a s**t about the welfare of our players it’s seriously infuriating because they are clearly being the insufferable arse hats they always seem to be after a showdown win.

It’s like how disgusted at the level of racism, abuse or violence that is witnessed at a showdown when it’s directed at them but you hear crickets the other way. They showed they don’t give a s**t about racism with the Tex Walker incident. They are simply flogs coming on here to dance on our grave. Get absolutely ****ed.

I 100% agree with you on walkers racial comment, he owned it, the club reported and owned it, and he underwent rehabilitation and awareness to help understand and learn about aboriginal culture, and still to this day is doing that- .. let's see how your club handles last nights incident- I think we all know it will be either swept under the carpet or you will get a fine (which the afl pays for you) . The win at all costs mentality from your club doctor to not even test him is bizarre on so many levels. It is unacceptable for him to remain in that role. The bloke was knocked out cold FFS. How you can defend the choice from the club doctor is unbelievable...
