You can sub him or start him as the sub but when he's on he has to play at full effort and time on the field. At Peel he can start slow, play partial quarters etc... Like I said I'd put him straight in the side if he's fit, keep him locked inside the forward 50 if we have to and I still think he'd be a big improvement to our team. It was a week or so ago so maybe (hopefully) it'll change but Lyon has mentioned Walters playing at Peel first.

If Pav is out this week, could we go a short forward line with only Clarke and Sandi being marking targets.

Assuming Walters is fit, I think I would rather have Walters, Ballas, Mayne, Clarke and maybe even Duffy in the forward line than one of Apeness or Taberner.

The cats have a tall back line and I doubt they could match up well against those players and if we move the ball quickly and spread our players in the forward line I think it would work very well.

The Ins and Outs I am considering are Pavlich (if not 100%), Mzungu, de Boer for Duffy, Walters and Crozier.

I know de Boer is unlikely to be dropped, but I would rather have Duffy in the forward line than him.

There was a reason Menegola was upgraded recently and it just presented itself.

If he takes Mz's place, then prepare for a bunch of turnovers. Mz's kicking took a season or two to settle down and become consistently accurate... his kicking has been really good this year and (from memory) was also good last year.

With Menegola's decision making and footskills (from what I've heard) stepping into Mz's role and the pressure that Geelong put on their opposition, and at Skilled... it could get pretty frickin' ugly. That lot feed off turnovers.

I'd be pretty surprised (and worried) if Menegola gets a run.

Duffy has played a reasonable game against a bottom side rabble and you think on that one display he is ready to take on Geelong.

I saw Sonny playing on Thursday in full match practice with others not playing on Thursday night. He moved well but was a touch off maybe with his kicking by his normal standards. Reckon he needs the extra match practice at Peel to get his touch back. Interestingly I noticed he was wearing odd colour boots - one green one blue I think from memory.

With Menengola being upgraded I wonder if there are possibly also questions about Crowls playing out all the games.

Wasnt it Duffy in and De Boer out?

Out: Mzungu, de Boer and Pav
In: Crozer, Walters, Duffy.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, but I am not a fan of de Boer. I think he has below average skills, and does not do enough other stuff to warrant selection. I think Duffy could do everything de Boer does plus get on the score board.

Anyway, do you like the idea of going in with a small forward line ?

Duffy might be able to do a number of things De Boer can't offensively. But Duffy can't even be mentioned in the same breath as De Boer defensively. Have you seen how easily we've been opened up via the switch and on rebound in recent weeks? Any chance De Boer might have a role to play in countering that? De Boer would also have a pretty massive edge on Duffy in winning contested ball as well, which will be necessary against the Cats.

Wash your mouth out!

A small forward line would be great...if we were Hawthorn and had skillfull kickers hitting smaller targets on the lead. Not sure if you've been watching but we have pearced, hill, fyfe, crowley and others who, most of the time, boot the ball into the forward 50 in nice tall arcs. Without a taller target i'd be surprised if we kicked more than 4-5 goals total. With the way we usually enter the f50 i'm surprised we don't use more talls. Less will just guarantee failure.

De Boer is more likely to be dropped than anyone else in the team. That's a given when someone starts as the sub.
Prepare to be surprised again poker.

If someone is dropped from the team, and is MDB then i won't post for a week.

Are you prepared to do the same if someone is dropped and it isn't MDB?

De Boer and Pearce would not even be on Ross's radar to miss selection
Bringing in underdone Peel youngsters because they went ok against Perth is laughable

For sure, I agree that Duffy is very unlikely to replace DeBoer or Pearce would be a very strange time to try that. But at the same time you appear to be down on Duffy who has come back really positively from major injury (at least from a goal scoring perspective) I think he has gone a long way to getting a contract next year especially with RTB being at the game (he wont trade Crozier either!).

Drop Pearce as well then and overall it would be no loss in effectiveness.

Seriously though, Dawson can't kick, Sandilands won't kick and Pearce is currently a shit kick. As you already pointed out, Mzungu's kicking was very ordinary at the start. The club didn't upgrade Menegola for nothing, and if he really was that bad Hawthorn wouldn't have drafted him and we wouldn't have taken him off Hawthorn.

I like Duffy and I think he will stay 015.I just think coming back from a shoulder recon and playing a hand full of WAFL games is enough reason to select him .

SJ offered a week, looks like Crowley will go to Selwood this week.

Funny, all the Geelong fans who think we have dirty players yet SJ is one of the worst in the league.

Great news!

The blokes who scare me are Christensen and Motlop. Really hitting their straps.

Good call, Duncan also is one to watch - Mzungu would've got Duncan or Christensen. Motlop has not really torn us apart but for some reason I do fear him, he is lightning quick and dangerous near goals.
