Opinion Round 20 Changes vs. Geelong

Not always, he wont go near Motlop. It will be Selwood, maybe Stokes, possibly Christensen or Duncan but i'd be betting on Selwood - has been in Brownlow form and kicking goals.

I honestly think we're crazy if we don't send him to Selwood, he also has a recent precedent on his side of caning Selwood.

This is probably straying into match preview territory, someone who isn't lazy should create one; hell the Geelong match preview is up to 8 pages already!

Not sure how I'm wrong already 5 days out from the game but you're entitled to your opinion bro, I'll make a little wager though that he'll go to Selwood again.
Didn't go to Selwood last time Stokes played.

He went to Stokes and then SJ when he got a run on.
With SJ out, if you don't tag Stokes and Motlop you are nuts.

Somebody will run with Motlop, we shall see on the night I guess.

I look forward to you haughtily correcting any of your own fans who think like-minded this week though.

Last year Stokes had the most kicks inside 50 so Crowley to him is part of our midfield defence. Selwood may well have that mantle at Geelong now..

Who do you think is more likely to be dropped from the current lineup than De Boer?

I don't really have an opinion on who this would be at the moment. My point is, that it isn't De Boer. As I said, if he is dropped then I won't post on here for a week.

You're the one that made the statement that he'd be the one dropped if anyone was.

I don't think anyone will come in this week but if say Walters was returning I would rate De Boer as the #1 candidate to go out of the side for him. I can't think of anyone else in the team who would be in anywhere near as much danger.

Given how poorly our forward pressure and midfield pressure has been functioning, and given how important De Boer usually is to this... I can see someone else making way for him. No idea who that would be.

I could be wrong. Time will tell.

Yes, I did. Because he obviously would be. There isn't a single player in the 21 that isn't ahead of De Boer at the moment. Hence why he has been playing WAFL and as the sub. That's really just completely obvious common sense. Despite all the platitudes about the sub rule, it is by and large where you play the 22nd person picked. If Mzungu is out this week and Crozier or Sheridan come in as expected, that person will play as the sub.

I am of course aware that you believe De Boer has stamped himself a spot for the rest of the year with his dominating 9 disposal game last week, but you are living in fantasy land if you genuinely believe that.

Crowley will go to Motlop or Christenson.

He always targets the players who react badly to a multitude of pinches.
Efa.

Btw, heard Sir Pinchee being interviewed on the radio on Sat and he stated (wasn't asked either) that McAffer (sic) was currently the best tagger in the AFL. Seems he's not impressed by our Ryan Pinchley. Maybe mcaffer gives him 400 pinches a game and a box of tissues at half-time to keep the ball dry

How do you know this? Are you telepathic? Do you have an inside line to my subconscious? Because that's truly news to me.

but you are living in fantasy land if you genuinely believe that.

Nice straw man. I won't bite. I genuinely don't believe that. It was a figment of your imagination.

Actually based on your logic, deBoer's average of 15.91 disposals in 2014 is not that bad. At least he is ahead of hacks like Mathew Pavlich (14.41), Zachery Clarke (12.67) and Hayden Ballantyne (12.25!!). I suggest we drop all of these deadweights first ;)

Strobe00, as much as it's annoying,
Pokerspiv argument did have some merit though. Sonson can do forward pressure pretty well too and can also run through the middle if necessary.
Like for like, he may be an upgrade on deBoer in the forward 50.

Ross conforms on 6pr Walters will play WAFL and not be thrown to the wolves.

I think this is a silly decision. Well is hawthorn not going to be wolves are they ???? Bloody hell

Surely this means Pav will play

RTB on 6pr WALTERS TO RETURN....in the WAFL..."Don't want to throw him to the Wolves"....

Interesting....

EDIT*: Beat me to it :p

Looks like we posted at the exact same minute ;)

Thrown to Wolves. By the sounds of it he is stoked with Taberner. Great lets throw that skinny kid to the wolves instead.

Honestly Rosses KPI's give me the shits sometimes. We need Walters now !! Not next week when we have already lost the cats game and on the back foot

We need to go hell for leather for top 2 and take risks

I don't understand....Would Pav, Macca, Fyfe or Ballaz come in the WAFL? I wouldn't think so......What makes Walters different I wonder?

I'm not convinced about Tabs either...but we have only seen him in average games (Syd; loss, West Coast: only won by 7, StKilda: *mental blank*)
He was ok against Essendon but the game was done and dusted before he had a major impact IMO...

More importantly - did RTB say whether or not Pav would play? He is oh so important against Geelong, has a great history against their defenders.

It's not like Walters has missed a few weeks, it's been months. It is about building confidence as much as it is about fitness.

Also it's about the team. Can't have an unknown quantity breaking down 15 mins into a dogfight at the cattery, you can in the wafl.

our match preveiw includes changes etc.

Im going to enjoy the Challenge vs Geelongistan in their suburban dump. We have a true fight on our hands.

Need Zac Clarke in the side. Not exactly a key forward, but if he can do what he did in the derby earlier this season and kick 3 goals, We can win this. Anyone thinks Danyle Pearce should be dropped, should think carefully of that too. With the Exception of Hill and Mzungu, I cant think of a better outside midfielder in out team. Now that Mzungu is injured, he has to be kept in the side. We can win with a small forward line, Freo have a few goal scoring mids.

I know its unlikely, I wouldnt mind Tanner Smith get a game in the forward line if he isnt injured. He played in the forward line in the pre-season and that worked out ok.

Oh and one last thing... This has been mentioned before. Michael Barlow is undefeated against Geelong... Freo beat them in 2010 at Subi. Lost to them in 2011: Barlow still was recovering from a broken leg. 2012 Barlow was fully fit and we beat them twice at Subi in early in the season and in the elimination final at the MCG. Geelong beat us in 2013 at Geelong, Barlow had a jaw injury. 2013 Qualifying final and in this season in Pavs 300th, Barlow played well in both games.

Barlow played his best game ever against Geelong in the 2013 QF and that was his first time playing down at Geetroit as a Freo player. Here's to him continuing his great performances against Geelong :thumbsu: Barlow plays, we win :thumbsu::thumbsu:

RTB seemed pleased with Croz (multiple mentions), Duffy (multiple mentions) and Tabs (best fwd in WAFL, quote).

"They have pace"
Hinting one could be an in this week? Or just smoke and mirrors perhaps.

Yep heard that and I am taking that as a guarantee that Duffy gets a contract for next year, which is really exciting. Can't wait until he plays a AFL game (next year) he is a bit of a freak in a good way.
