I was wondering why they didn't leave him into the 'late change' tomorrow. What difference would it make- well, apart from releasing the news early gives Clucko another 24 hours to get his homework done.

VFL is at 11am tomorrow, so we would know of the change or potential change, so announcing the change earlier allows us to go back to 3 emergencies, and bring in anyone required for the VFL

Rivers wasn't named to play in the vfl and is now an emergency so the rumour that he may play has some legs based on that I would have thought.

I feel like we have a very low chance of winning this game. There is always a chance, but I definitely wouldn't be putting any money on us tomorrow. Hawkins will probably get a lot of attention from the Hawks defenders, and unless Walker has a big game we will struggle to kick a winning score. With Lake back, the Hawks now have a relatively tall/strong backline. Lake (195cm), Frawley (193cm), Stratton (189) and Gibson (189, but he can play on tall opponents, as well as going thrid man up spoiling the ball). Hawkins will struggle against 2 or 3 of these guys for the whole match, so we really need some other key forward to take advantage of the attention-seeking Tommahawk. Basically, Walker needs to kick at least 3 goals. 5 would be nice ;). Having a small forward to kick some goals against an arguably top-heavy backline would be very nice, but we don't really have a small forward atm (unless you count Mots).

Also, with Duncan out our midfield is going to be under the pump against an experienced core of Hawthorn players. Hodge and Mitchell have had incredible seasons given thier age (they should both be slowing down given that they are well into their 30s), and Lewis has been in great form the last few weeks. If Taylor is out, we are pretty much dead, and things could get ugly again, ala Round 1 2015.

I'm looking forward to seeing how our players cope against a juggernautof a team, and don't expect a win. Hopefully we can compete for 4 quarters and our kids can learn a few important lessons.

Might aswell play Harry forward if he's not 100% for a hard slog defence. Take Stokes or Cocky out and drop Rivers down back.

If he's out then it could be a case of MC letting this game go and keeping players fresh for the winnable games coming up rather than have niggles get smacked about.

Actually Taylor to CHF and Rivers to CHB with Walker out omitted would be a good move

No Duncan means Geelong go from a flukers chance of winning - to virtually none

You can only play who you have got - GHS is now in - his best game by far was that tagging role he played on Kennedy ( who isnt quick) at the SCG a couple of years ago - he beat Kennedy that night - Leigh Mathews gave him a huge rap that night - so play him on Lewis ( whose no Oakleigh Plater) in a run with roll

Lets hope it rains - i think thats the only saviour for the Cats now - i fear a belting

Rivers can play forward just as easily as Harry ever could, we could always swap them at will.

Duncan and possibly Taylor out means I don't feel so lucky anymore. Agree its pity that our chances are diminished.
Hawks have had a few lucky breaks in recent weeks.

Let's hope one or two of them cop luke parker type injuries tonight, it's always us on the negative w injuries.
If taylor is a late out it does put a glum night on how we will go. Injuries to a side like ours will hurt when facing a must win game just as much it is for the dorks.

To make it worse Hawthorn look like they have their best 22 players in .

I want someone at the club to tell me why we have for the past 4 years constantly had so many injuries ?????

Yeah that's a worthwhile question. It seems so strange that riv wasn't even mentioned as an out in the vfl cats, yet was named *in print atleast as an emg for the afl side. Wtf cats HR what's going on to dispell any inuendo of more outs!!

A win is out of the question without Duncan. I was looking forward to this game. It would have been a good measure of our level.

Disagree. Duncan out makes it harder that's for sure but we can still win .

We will still go into this game with a solid defence and Hawkins plus speed up forward which can trouble Hawthorn .The midfield will be the challenge as it has been for the past few years with us . Selwood,Caddy,Bartel ,Kelly,Guthrie and Blicavs will all need to play at their very best but they are capable of playing some good footy as unit .

Bigger upsets have happened than us hopefully beating Hawthorn tonight .

Wouldn't it be a wow factor if cads, guthrie & blitz came of age tonight. Just the dawks spread worries me.
We are in the box seat for wins against the pies and crow's, let's just put out a positive vibe tonight win/loss or draw.

I know this is a Geelong board and all but wishing someone breaks their ankle is a bit much don't you think?

The best footy to watch has been the games between our 2 clubs over a long period of time and the respect for each other can be seen by the players of both teams after each game.

Wishing injuries for anyone is pretty sad.
