Must admit I was pretty sceptical when we selected Brandon Ryan in the MSD, but gee he looks a player. Also thought Scrimshaw was terrific, we are a far better team when he is playing and at his best. Let’s hope he can lock down his spot from here on in.
Scrimm just needs to see this, to feel this, be a hawthorn star, be a true hawthorn person. Not watch. Just be a true hawthorn person.

How's that for a win?

What a performance from the midfield and Sic.

Take a bow Finn.

Enjoyable day, go at it.
This game should rest the case for Finn's importance for good. People sometimes don't understand and underestimate the importance of such a player. It's not always marks/handballs/kicks that matters but even how much your opposition best palyer got (5 for Daicos with a charity goal). He has a role to play and he does it every week when given.

Wingard is done.
Why would you drop Meek for Reeves?
Kosi and Morrison in?
I will STFU, like most of you I’ve been a very fortunate supporter to see the flags that I have, but I can’t remember a time I’ve been so proud of my boys. I’m going to sit back and enjoy this next ride.
Go Hawkers!!!!!

I thought Mitch Lewis, in spite of only getting 2, had one of the best games he's played all season. Some of his marking, pressure and tackling work was fit for a bloke 20cm shorter.
He competed. He became a target, but, BUT he had forward structure. He had TWO KP mates. Structure, just makes all the difference.

You ****ing little ripper!!!
What a brilliant performance. So nice to start a game off well - keeping them goalless in the first quarter was just class.
Withstood their repeated attempts to come back, and whatever the **** that double-goal drivel was (couldn't tell, neither could those around me - backchat?) and kept our foot on their throats as best we could until the very end, when the youngsters could've been forgiven for cruising in the final stretch given the margin, although that's always fraught with danger.

Finn's job on NDaicos, wowzers! He doesn't just reduce the impact of players like Kelly Daicos etc, he renders them damn-near useless.
Thought we were getting the ball out of the center pretty darn often (and stats seem to suggest that looking at them now) - looking forward to watching the replay to see it a bit closer up.

Beaut to see Ryan snag 3 also. Sicily with another champion game, bloke is all over the ground and marking anything and everything that gets delivered into our backline.

What a beaut performance and a great day.
Carn the Hawkers!

My daughter's just turned 4 and had been devastated by the Richmond loss as she had been hanging out to sing the song that day, only to be in tears at the end.

I wasn't so sure it was a good idea to take us to the game this week, as too many losses can kill the love of the game at that age, and i spent the tram trip in explaining how we are the youngest side in the competition and that as long as the team try their best we should be happy. But the hawks saluted and my daughter finally has her first W. Thanks to the fellow hawks fans who gave her a bunch of high fives. Being able to run out and have a kick afterwards and celebrate was just awesome.

Some highlights from where we were sitting, the first goal from Weddel was a real taste of things to come. The centre square dominance was just unbelievable. The tackles that landed that we've been missing. The star performances that we now expect from Sicily, Will Day and Jai seem to get even better. And the unexpected, Finn's game, his defensive goal square grab. Sticks. Chad. The gut running from Cmac. Scrim and Dimma down back. It will be good to see the replay.

It's exciting to see a bunch of players fighting for selection, and others stepping up a level to fight for their spots.

I noticed this too. His forward pressure led to 2-3 goals by my count. Awesome by the big guy especially when he was roaming all the way up to the middle of the ground and back again. Great leadership shown too.

The presser was just posted on the AFL website.

McRae did pay compliments to the Hawks at the start and said Finn had a great game on Daicos and said he was a hard worker - having worked with Finn for 12 months.

Bit of a beat up IMO. He was an assistant coach with us for a year and wouldn’t think he would deliberately disrespect a former club. Never heard him disrespect Richmond or Brisbane either.
Presser mid week
