The result longer term will hopefully be a blessing in disguise and Sam can use it to show why the game must be played for the full 120 mins.

a few blokes too happy with themselves today. The result means jack overall, but what is reminds us all is that there are players who have had an above average last month that has clouded judgment on their worth long term. Hopefully it fools a few outsiders in a trade

Kudos to Nash . 4 weeks imo he was done , gets moved into the midfield (which posters here were pushing for ) and plays 4 really decent games on end .

Bit to work with there .
All I took from that is we should have a BF rep on match committee... Clearly

Thanks Shaun for a great career. Shame some of your teammates went to water as soon as the slightest bit of pressure came. Not so easy to look good when you have to play under pressure.

We're now going to see some realisation from a few that we're the Hawthorn Football Club and not the Clarkson Football Club. Huge day for the club and it's going to take a few some time to adjust, but we've already seen that Mitchell is going to have us playing running, attacking football that will allow us to develop players to their strengths and not to a rigid, outdated system.

Exciting times ahead...

Watched it 5 times and still cannot see the holding decision to Aarts. Utter bullshit. Have the rules changed or something?
Aarts kept rolling into O'Meara's legs.... O'Meara takes the contact and puts his hands down to brace himself and push himself up again... Aarts' momentum and body position means he is not even realistically in the contest... O'Meara's contact with Aarts is half a second at most..... reeks of an umpire looking for a free kick rather than simply umpiring the game. No way any rational person could say O'Meara was holding the man.

Holy sh*t. Wasnt expecting so much angwr and vitriol itt!!

How can any Hawks fan be full of anger right now?
100% agree. Thought it was a unique end to a couple of really interesting careers. Kind of fitting for the two teams to draw it given our dominance for a decade and that we're both outside the 8 now.

Shite last 5 minutes, but I didn't really care that much about the result today - just wanted to see some good signs. Really loved the game by Lewis, Chad, Nash, etc.

Good signs for 2022, but still a lot of room for improvement.

Hope Kosi is ok.

His last game coaching our club and you still have to crap on him. Pathetic.

Yup, that's the way I see it too. We get to pick the 5th best player out of those available to us. The fact that a couple of decent prospects are going to go F/S seems irrelevant to that, as they are simply players not available to us, no matter what pick we have.
They are available, it's how we got DGB.

We need to move on from tob, has too many of these games where he is a complete liability. It’s billy hartung all over again. We’ve got a few young keys on the list, give them a go, couldn’t possibly be as disappointing as tob has been for the last 10 years
TOB hasn't been on the field for the past 10 years so settle down cowboy

Bizzare end to a bizarre season for some legendary Goats. Thought we were flat with effort if that makes sense - also solidified my opinion on Mitchell, worpel, jom together (actually a good thing to learn

I will not remember a split second of any of the covid years of AFL, but 2008, 2012, 2013,2014, 2015 , 2016 all vividly remember and when Burgoyne was literally unstoppable in any position.

407 games is unbelievable and he went out strong.

Expecting some big changes and Looking forward to the future now.

Pick 5 = the 7th best talent in the draft. That's the issue.
Yeah, but 2 of those 7 are unattainable.

Darcy and Daicos may as well be Michael Jordan and Joe DiMaggio, they’re not available to anyone other than Dogs and Pies. Not worth even mentioning them.

We get the 5th best kid ‘in the draft’.

Again, hard to watch football and the reason Clarko was wound up today.
There is genuine optimism moving forward and hopefully Sam Mitchell gets the Hawthorn machine chugging early.
Clarko and Silk deserved a better send off than that but alas…. 2020…2021…. That’s just how life is at the moment.

Bring on 2022!

That was a really shit ending

I think the point is we have had another disappointing season and will get the 7th most highly rated talent. The rules are the rules but that's the reality.
But again, 2 of them are completely unattainable. They may as well not exist.
