Frederick and Walters would be having very similar types of seasons I feel. Jackson would be streets ahead in almost every measure.

If there's the power of positive thinking, then it stands to be, there must be the power of negative thinking. Some of the people running around in here are specialists in negative thinking. I need an analogy here. Say Freo are a pool and everything Freo is within it. That's the Admin, coaches etc and the players. I'm sure they try to be positive about their winning chances. By far the largest part of the pool are the fans. Maybe a bubble of collective consciousness centred on Freo is better than a pool, whatever the negative thinkers are polluting the pool with there sh!tful thinking.

Say the negativity adds up and sucks the life out of the bubble and the team implodes. Really it serves you right. Self fulfilling prophecy. Try to move yourselves to put the positive into the mix. Crikeys, even before the game has started, you're writing yourself off to be a loser. At least try be positive until we're 4 goals down with 10mins left in the last. Otherwise it's such a weary road you're on.

I think this is a defining game for this group. The easy thing to do would be to head over, show some fight for a while then fold to the 25 or 30 point defeat that the vast majority of the AFL public expect.

We could head back quietly to Perth, the team comforting themselves with the fact that some key players were injured, we were unlucky, and that old chestnut we are still young.
There is always next year. Next year. And the year after.
And the year after.

Potential. The post dangerous word in professional sport. Success is always just around the corner. We just have to wait until Andy and Caleb are 26 and 24, instead of 23 and 25. We just need to wait until Alex Pearce and Sean Darcy are fit instead of injured.

The group could make a stand. Make a statement to the competition that we are a force, not just this year but for the next few years. Like paddy Dangerfield and Geelong last weekend, we could just refuse to accept defeat.

GWS are decent but there is certainly a vulnerable underbelly in that team if we show up in the right frame of mind.

I reckon this is the biggest game we have played since the 2022 finals series. There is SO MUCH at stake this Saturday. AFL careers are short and fleeting. There is zero guarantee that our star players will play top level football well into their 30s. As someone pointed out on another thread, it’s harder for WA players. Fyfe and sonny’s post age 30 careers are but pale shadows of their former glory. David Mundy is an exception rather than a rule.

We just have to find a way to win this Saturday. No excuses, no talk of futures. There is no other option. It will be an unbelievable waste of a season if we don’t.

We shall beat them in Alice Springs. We shall beat them in Sydney. We shall beat them without Darcy. We shall beat them without Treacy.

We will never surrender!

Had we got 4th, we would of Faced Geelong. They were likely to beat us by 6-8 goals had we met them in the qualifying final at the MCG.

We then would of had a semi final in Perth vs either Swans or Magpies. Both of them belted us in Perth in the 2nd half of the season.

Again.... Happy with freos 5th placed finish in 2022. Topped it off with our 1st finals win since 2015.

At the same time that EF was close to the best game I’ve been to, so I wouldn’t take it back.

No mate we would of played one of the winners of the 5th v 8th 6th v 7th game in a home semi and been a great chance to make a prelim.

Top 4 is always better. Basically top 4 means you need to win 3 games in a row to win the premiership with a free hit in week one. 5th-8th you need to win 4 in a row.

3 Huge outs(Pearce, Treacy and Darcy.) but the team looks much better balanced than last week. Drizz will probably be the sub. I'd rather he play the full game but at least he's in the team.
