Didn't see Butler, Byrnes or Windhager do anything, might have to watch the replay to spot them
At the ground I thought Byrnes was pretty good, but won’t be watching the replay of this one to find out!

If Wilkie is playing badly? Since played horribly in his second game back. Battle wasn't great neither. In fact alot of players were sub par.A pretty ordinary team effort against and ordinary team sadly. That's two out of three games where the midfield as a unit got beaten, and really only broke even against Collingwood. Our midfield don't get enough of the ball basically.
Looked pretty obvious to me that when we were dominating in the first 20 mins of the first quarter and were leading, quite a few players took their foot off the gas and let Essendon back in late in the quarter, and then we lost the momentum as a team. If Wilke is playing badly then we're in trouble.
Reckon they were drinking their own bathwater after the Collingwood win, and got caught out by a team who were more hungry for the ball. I'm sure the genius coach will sort it out.If Wilkie is playing badly? Since played horribly in his second game back. Battle wasn't great neither. In fact alot of players were sub par.
Something tells me that whatever illness Steele had may have floated through the team because that was uncharacteristically poor all round from those players
One of their goals in the third quarter was Battle thinking he was peak Nathan Buckley and kicked the cover off the ball, missed his team mate who couldn't hang on to it and ball came straight back for a goal.
The amount of unintelligent play today was extraordinary. We handed that game to them. What is it with that club that we bend over for them, time and again? They've been dog shite for 20 years and yet we've beaten them a handful of times.
Unfortunately the midfield is decimated and it's showing. Missing Henry as another option in there too along with Crouch, Dow, Clark and Wood on the outside.A pretty ordinary team effort against and ordinary team sadly. Open and shut case really. It was a frustrating game but below was the game in a nutshell. IMHO it all came down to shooting accuracy. If we had kicked straight in the first quarter, I think it would have been a bridge to far for the bombers to come back.
We didn't get the result we wanted but there are young players getting opportunities at the moment and that can only bode well for our depth and competiveness going forward.

Champion Data count it as anything that losses possession to opposition in general play.Re Bonner - What actually counts as a turnover?
So a long kick to a contest that Essendon wins is a turnover and an effective possession at the same time. GreatChampion Data count it as anything that losses possession to opposition in general play.
A lot of his kicks counted as effective because they were over 40m but also as turnovers because they went straight to Essendon.
Yep. A good reminder that some stats dont tell the whole story. So a long kick to a contest that Essendon wins is a turnover and an effective possession at the same time. Great
All this focus on Bonner's 17 turnovers. He actually made 6 critical errors (Marshall team high with 14). Ok, so not Bonner's best game perhaps, but if everyone else is saying "here, you kick it", especially when Bonner himself is under pressure and there is nothing on, that might be expected.Last quarter,
Bonner long to “contest” on wing/flank.
Over and over.
Either ess mark or ess crumb.
That’s not on bonner that’s on that’s on team failure to make a contest.
And it wasn’t working,
Where was plan B?
I think effective long kicks are to no worse than a 50-50, while effective short kicks have to be to a target?Champion Data count it as anything that losses possession to opposition in general play.

Clangers are a much better read. Marshall had 14 from 20 disposals!!! I haven't heard one word about that.Yep. A good reminder that some stats dont tell the whole story.
I thought the same about the long kicks but a champion data guy on twitter yesterday just mentioned the over 40m aspect of it.I think effective long kicks are to no worse than a 50-50, while effective short kicks have to be to a target?
Definitely not Marshall's best performance. His credits in the bank and having to play against 2 genuine rucks gives him some leeway with supporters compared to Bonner.Clangers are a much better read. Marshall had 14 from 20 disposals!!! I haven't heard one word about that.
Boner gets way too much hate for a player we picked up as a delisted free agent.
No we shouldn't. Campbell offers nothing other than a tap ruckman. He's slow, can't transition on the fast plays and would be a liability at AFL level.Should play Campbell against teams with two decent rucks!!
Plan b was getting torched in the pocket. All 3 times either Nas or Hill were waiting there for the easy get out and clear, but Bonner ignored them.Last quarter,
Bonner long to “contest” on wing/flank.
