Autopsy Round 3, 2024: Essendon v St.Kilda

Perhaps we believed in our publicity too much & too soon after the Collingwood game.

This St Kilda team has done virtually NOTHING of note yet!

Yes we are faster.
Where was the run & carry however in the last quarter when we needed it?

It breaks my heart to support this club sometimes.
💔
Happy to at least have a game plan we’re working towards. We’re going in slightly younger than planned it’ll bode well for them, we had nobody coming through the youth ranks 3 years ago.

I would be a much happier person if I could stop watching football but I can’t so here I am disappointed again and living in hope that next week will be a better result.
So many of us feel this way.

thought I’d watch a little bit of the replay as I saw it live last night unfortunately. Turned it on with 5 mins left in the 2nd q.
Re Bonner - wow talk about a coach /team killer
In 5 mins he 1. Kicked out on the full.
2. Should’ve been done holding the ball
3. Dropped an easy mark in the center square which came straight back in ess 50
4.kicked to Wilkie which was marked by ess inside 50
5. Kick down the line to a contest that we lost .( not his fault of course)
What a shocker

Oh s**t really? I haven’t watched it again since seeing it live at the ground but I thought it was Seb’s tackle which put him into the ground.

I've watched it 100 times and I cant see how it's a suspendible act.
Windy was pushed by the Essendon player into the path of the play then he tried his best to halt his momentum.

I think that'll be a week or two. Pendles or Danger it's a football incident but our reality is different.

Oh, that, yeah, game is straight F'd if we're banning blokes for getting shoved into a ball after a fresh CC.

No prob with a free being called as derp high, but that's a reach if suspension. What's his choice? Getting a head straight to his groin rather than turning?

Looks to me to have been not been that forceful a push and would not have really affected Windy too much.

We need the camera angle from the other side to see exactly where contact was made.

But from that footage with Windy turning his body to impact, if head high contact was actually made as it appears to be then under this year's interpretation Windy will get suspended.

It looks to be at least as bad as King's and probably worse.

To get off you really need to be contacting straight on and at least attempting to win the ball. If a player "braces" or "turns" his body then so far this year you go if the head is involved.

It wasn't a big push, but I think we could argue it impacted the speed which he approached the contest and impacted what he was able to do in the split second.

I still think there needs to be room in a contact sport for accidents, which this was. We also dont know if this even caused the concussion given he stayed on the ground for the rest of the quarter, seemingly was fine for half time and then was involved in that tackle with Seb, which also involved accidental contact to his head from Sharman's knee.

I hope you are right, but I think the nail in the coffin for Windy is how he turned his body.

King actually turned his less, but that was enough to suspend him. And this player was more badly affected than the one King impacted.

I think we'll find they'll say there were 2 movements. Windy braces then sticks his bum out slightly and catches the player on the top of his scone. That's what l see anyway, and if there was a concussion they'll slap him with a suspension on principle.

Yes that is how I see it too. Unless another camera angle is more favourable then sadly I think he will go.

It's reasonable to argue that Windy had no alternative but once the suspension is issued by the MRO you're already guilty and 90% of the way down the toilet. The King suspension shows the MRO will hit you for a minimal incident where the recipient suffers no ill effects, so l can't see how there will not be a suspension handed down here.

Such lazy crap analysis. Based on what do you think the players got ‘ahead of themselves’. Old fashioned straw man thinking.

Thanks Ads.

My analysis is based on what the club has actually said in the past (during both the Cho & Ratts eras) & what RTB said in his presser.

You can stick with your new age moisturiser group think.

Apology with a big red white & black bow by mid week thanks.

Nah i think even for Ross or most coaches it’s crap analysis. ‘Oh the players got ahead of themselves’ the players ‘didn’t take the opposition seriously’

Blame the skills, blame the decision making but seriously it was not the ‘players got big heads and thought it would be an easy win’
