Yeah I don't know about dropping Maric but I agree he looked a bit rattled at times, a lot of snappy kicks to no one and pther times floating around day dreaming.

He's building into it.

Getting plenty of it which is a good sign

Shouldn't be too hard to coach him and correct it.

Yep agree. Much preferred seeing us adapt to being too small than to being too tall, and Freo if they get hold of our backline will do so through their smalls IMO.

Ginbey can play tall like Hurn used to and wouldn't be conceding that much weight to Amiss - think that's actually a good matchup considering he's less of a gorilla and more a smooth mover that Ginbey would have the pace to catch up with.

HEdwards sitting on Treacy, keep it simple.

Gov to play on their least dangerous tall, if they bring in Reidy he'll monster him. Should Jackson play forward I'd also consider Ginbey on him, Jackson's pace and mobility scare me vs a HEdwards or Gov and if Ginbey can tangle him up Gov/Maric should be able to third man up him.
Treacy is one of the hardest working up and back KPF’s in the game……….Harry can’t sit on him or go with him and certainly won’t be lining up anywhere near him.

I suspect we will just be letting Treacy go up the ground with Gov trying to get to him on the way back.

OUT: Long, A.Reid
IN: Graham, BWilliams

Happy to keep Petch as the sub. I quite like him in that role.

Gross and Allan to have another week in the WAFL. If Hewett or Hall have an off week one might get a debut the week after.

Think you're right on his work rate - and I agree we'll likely let him go in areas we don't consider dangerous. I suppose I just prefer Gov not to be the one to feel like he has to run with him, he's smart enough to keep Gov occupied and unable to intercept properly.

Like Waterman though he's not lightning quick or freakishly athletic - HEdwards is slow but fit enough and should be able to match him in the air if we congest things like we did in the first half today. You're right in that he's not an ideal matchup but I'd prefer that over Gov or Ginbey, if we concede a bit in terms of movement in the Harry/Treacy matchup but it lets the others play better games I'd take it.

Geez Long has been invisible hasn't he. Brockmans papers are probably stamped at the end of the year, but he did dob that nice goal from 50 and holds his spot.

We gotta keep playing A. Reid, his direct swap is J. Williams if he is sore. Same for B. Williams who was good today, with the obvious replacement in Flynn.

In all likelihood it will be minimal changes (as it should be) with Hall out for Graham in.

Amiss is the stay at home we can drop Edwards on. Treacy I wouldn't lose any sleep over.
I would however play another proper KPD to allow Gov to float & use Maric as a distributor.

He kicked 2 goals and is contracted for next year.
How low we have fallen, celebrating a 2 goal game😔.
🤔I don't think he is? and certainly shouldn't be extended unless he starts offering more (as a forward who doesn't kick many goals or even offer more than average pressure acts)

He's a forward, kicking goals is his job.

Not sure anyone's 'celebrating' his game though.

In: Allan, Jilliams, Graham, Shanahan
Out: Long, AReid, Hall, Petruccelle

Can’t even begin to believe Hall could be dropped after that, even if he was in for Fridge. Big reason we were in it, 14/15 of his possessions contested and was really slick in close by hand today. Definitely a good showing and better contested than anything we had on the first two games combined on that front

Don’t think there will be any drastic changes or debuts this week. Would love to have waterman back though. Hopefully B.Williams is fine because he had a nice game.
OUT: Long(cooked), A.Reid(cooked)
IN: Graham, J.Williams

Fair point and you may well be right

Wouldn’t be upset in the slightest if he retains his spot even if it means Allan has to wait a bit longer for his debut

McQualter spoke highly of him in his post game press conference

Nice to have genuine selection pressure

Hall and Graham arent really like for like anyway.
Graham has always been a defensive mid/defensive half forward, Hall is an inside mid whose natural game is winning contested ball and dishing it out.
We need both roles in some form

Id keep Hall in the side at least until Yeo is back, or he stops performing. Gross is probably next in line

If waterman was back you'd drop Oscar. He's been putrid.
Double teamed by one of the top couple of KPDs in the comp and is direct opponent as the only tall target in the fwd line, fair to say he didnt have much of a chance.
Add Waterman to that side today to distract one of those KPDs and Allen gets a few 1v1s, and subsequently looks a lot better

Having Waterman there may have help free up Oscar, but only to just be a lead up full forward. He just doesn’t seem to offer anything else. Good set shot, good solid mark when he’s on, but he’s one dimensional. I rarely see a clever little knock on or anything clever to compensate for him moving like a truck.

Doesnt matter if Allen is a bit vanilla or one-dimensional. He takes a good KPD every game and cant do a lot as the only tall target, same as pretty much every KPF in the comp.

If Allen is just second fiddle to Waterman then whats the problem with that?

Hs still better than just about every single clubs second best KPF(whoever is 2nd of Naughton/JUH/Darcy would probably be the only one you could argue) and a lot of clubs best KPF

Assuming Waterman still out + Billiams is fine (Flynn in if Billiams injury is worse than reported).

- Long (love him but done nothing) - A.Reid (rest) -Petrol (kicked a goal but didn't do much else)
+Graham +Jilliams +Bo Allan (was close for a rnd 1 debut so lets do it)

FB: Maric, Edwards, Hough
HB: Cole, McGovern, Ginbey
C: Dewar, Reid, Hall
HF: Owies, Jilliams, Cripps
FF: Ryan, Allen, Brockman

R: Billiams, Graham, Baker

I: Kelly, Duggan, Hewett, Allan

Sub: Hunt

Duggan/Allan rotate to help defence/wing. I want Hall starting a sliked his game and in midifled/hf rotations. Hunt I've been a bit meh on to start the year so happy for him to come on with his run as sub.

I haven't seen him live but reading reports, think it'd be good for Gross to at least be named emerg to know he's close.
