I'm considering trading Berry to Caldwell, who I think will score better particularly with Essendons injuries
What difference do you see in their scoring/cash gen? Is that worth using a trade for?

Caldwell will get more mid time, but are Essendon going struggle with their best mid out?

I have neither player, but wouldn't trade in that position. Berry down to an important rookie might be a better option if you missed one.

Looks like it’s a three-horse race to the no-trades club bud.

Amirite Judd_Magic ?!?!

Nice :thumbsu:
He'll get some mid time for sure.

Timing is bad for the masses, so if he doesnt go large this week you might jag a sneaky but excellent POD Rook.
Hollands also getting closer to selection apparently.
Hollands played well in the VFL last week. Expect he'll get 2-3 more games there then in.

I'd hold Hough a bit longer. One good game and we might find the world suddenly wants him on the bubble in a week or two.
You've got all the cash generation needed, could even sacrifice the lowest performing rook.
How about Gibcus > SDK (if named for 2nd game)
Then Chapman > Hewett/Young. 30-40K ish?? in kitty
i.e. Upgrade the D5 rather than dumping a keeper like Shitfield. Extra 25pts a week and still generating cash.

edit: OR Straight Gibcus > Bowie and get last rook off field in defs. Run Chapman/Bowie D5/6
Appreciate the thoughts, both good ideas, maybe leaning to the straight swap out of those 2 options, as not sure SDK will make enough $ to justify.

I’m a bit conscious of missing Brodie though, with Fyfe out for a while, he could pump out regular tons…

I think getting Stephens is absolutely worth it in the long-run. Your on-field team looks fantastic, but you're not going to get huge cash gen any time from your bench rookies other than your forwards, and it's really going to hamper your ability to do upgrades.

Downgrade Stephens in just over a month and you'll lilely have enough cash to upgrade an on-field rookie to a super premo. MacDonald, Owens, and Hough won't afford you that luxury for quite a while.

I went with Bowey but I like Hayden Young. He appears to have a gull-friendly role, and worst case scenario, he's gonna make some quick cash with that 123 in his cycle for the next couple of weeks. BE of 30. Absolute worst case scenario he'll cost the same as Whitfield in a few weeks anyway.

All that being said, back your gut. If you think Whitfield can return to peak form, he'll be D1-D3 come end of this season.
Thanks for the reply. I agree on most of this - the cash gen is main reason why I want Stephens rather than any on field scoring potential. I think most people have the issue of rather dead MID benches because there’s no good cheap MID rooks outside of Macdonald - who is probably going to be a slow burn.

Bowey scares me a little bit because I then end up with Hewett @ D3 and a whole bunch of not-much after that. I do like Young but I see him as a low-end keeper if anything (~90 season average) and I’m not sure I want 2 players in that boat given I expect Hewett’s currently crazy scoring to slow down.

Just a matter of getting comfortable with who I trade Shitfield too because I don’t really want to keep him and I don’t think he’s right. Plus he’s an injury waiting to happen… wish I’d not picked the kent tbh

Hello Team, I have no idea who to trade out between Hinge or P. McCartin for Bowey? Any ideas appreciated! Many thanks!!
Don’t trade either of them - Bowey is a cash grab and you shouldn’t be burning trades on good performing rooks and losing 80K in the process by trading UP to him

Feast your eyes on this team kenties.

Just have to hold my giant chol and pray to the supercoach gods that Hayes keeps playing but I have $150k for emergency to bring in Preuss.

Mid bench needs fixing but I can deal with that over the next couple of weeks by getting Pedlar (premier midfielder of the future) and O'Driscoll.

Would rather ger Hall and Heeney in first who are both must haves before their price goes up.

Don’t see the point in trading either both will make money and are cheaper than Bowey free up some money by downgrading a premium who isn’t playing well Whitfield seems a popular downgrade option

Already have him but to be honest i fear he'll get injured before he does much. Just a speccy and little faith in him. Still no idea why i bothered.
He's never been able to stay on the paddock for a decent string of games. Sometimes coz he's simply been crap.
Yes the long term Fyfe verdict does help a tad, but it helps others also, and history says Brodie is more likely to self destruct than seize an opportunity. Guess we'll see this time around.

You’ve already used 5 trades and don’t have a 2nd scoring Ruckman and a non scoring bench surely you would have fixed your bench firstly

True but they are only trades, have heaps left. LOL!

I'll have Xerri to throw in the ruck after round 6 and can bring Preuss in after he has played 2 games.

Rest of the team looks amazing!

Neither? Why do you need Bowey?
Worst case he stinks it and you ride the 150 and make decent coin. Not a disaster.

For me, the more likely scenario is that he benefits from the absence of Salem and scores quite well in the short-term. Making solid cash and improving your on field scoring. Definately warrants consideration.

Hunting that April premiership ?
That is an early point scoring machineeeeeeeeeeeeee

Luv every bit of that ruckline. Good risk taking. Holding out for Rnd 6 DPP ?

Think I’ve done reasonably well with the rookies, not too many misses. Big misses appear to be in the mid prices who have started with a bang.

Thoughts on the trades below, which cost me $3k
Whitfield>Hewett
Hough>Brodie

Alternative could look at bringing in likes of Bowey or Ginnivan and really free up some cash to get another look at the best keeper options for early upgrades

Any other options to consider?!

I went Chapman > Bowey. Chapman is just treading water where as Bowey could be 400k+ and upgraded to a SP after a month or so.

Nailed it.

A tick over 23,000 coaches have traded him in this week, which was to be expected after two massive games. He is now in over a third of teams.

One hard taskmaster wasn’t happy with his 147 average though and decided enough was enough by giving Paddy the flick - said coach has since moved on to licking batteries greener pastures looking for that perfect team.

Is he an evil genius? Or does he know something that 57,000 coaches don’t.

The plot thickens…

He's probably Paddy Cripps

Sheldrick and Owens are your biggest concern before Hall and Heeney. Press may not play. GWS were out run by the tiges. Press won't fix that for them.

whod you trade out this week?

There's other options in the next couple of weeks like Pedlar and O'Driscoll though that I can replenish the midfield bench with.

Hall and especially Heeney will only keep going up in price.

Think I'm settled on Gawn > Heeney via English and Owens > Xerri via Rachele

My third trade is a bit more of a conundrum:

  1. Trade out a poor rookie for Bowey (Dixon, Gibcus, Durdin the options)
  2. Whitfield out for Hall, who (save from injury) appears a lock for Top 6 Defender

This is the team before the third trade...

Not sure I can truly trust Bowey, plus Gibcus and Durdin are still playing their roles and making money, and I'll likely shelve Dixon for Martin next round.

Bringing in Hall would give me:
  • The top three defenders, plus Crisp
  • Four of the top eight midfielders, plus Rowell
  • Four of the top five forwards, plus Treloar and Xerri
  • Effectively all of the best rookie-priced rookies with JS / SP
Really talking myself into Hall
