After going Owens to JHF and Baldwin to Xerri I have one trade and 95k to go.
Any thoughts? Rowan Marshall as a POD paid off round 1 but not so much round 2 otherwise I have a fairly meat and taters team Screen Shot 2022-03-30 at 9.58.59 pm.png

Hold. Or if you really don’t trust Whitfield sideways him to a prem def like Stewart/Lloyd.

I also originally moved heaven and earth to get Hewett and Cripps in my team but does the Carlton midfield dynamic worry anyone?
First game had no Walsh, and the second game had no Cerra. Both of these players will eat into the midfield time heavily. Probably affects Hewett more than Cripps, but Cripps will come back down to earth soon

Warming up to Hayden Young, he’s prime for a break out season
Yepp.
I'm definitely grabbing him next week if Whitfield sucks again.

I’m the same. I feel like I’m one of the very few not getting the Cripps/Hewett pair in, I would have to burn many trades to do so (Although I do have Crippa in my AFL Fantasy team)

The added blues midfielders will ensure Cripps won't be double teamed. Would take a lot of attention to stop him.

As for Hewitt, not worried after watching all the blues games, they will want him in the middle as much as possible.

Great little player. I reckon next year lots of us will start him priced at just under $500k.

I think he'll be a keeper, but a low keeper, 88-92 average, somewhere there. I reckon he'll throw in some stinkers. He's also very injury prone, so another preseason will help him.

Cripps will throw some low scores in. He still can't kick, and CD also hate him, and he won't kick 2, 3 or 4 goals every week. He'll also get niggles and be sore at stages. Though I still think he's close to a must-have and he'll average at least 110 for the season (will go closer to 120 imo).

Hewett is helping Cripps extract. He's helping with the dirty work. Why do you think Cripps metres gained has gone through the roof? Because Hewett is getting the hard balls and handballing to Crippa.

I just think Cripps and Kennedy will rest forward more, and Walsh and Cerra will start on wings more.

Your two weakest links are Gibcus and Soligo. So you could go:

Gibcus > Bowey

or

Soligo > Davies

Or you could sit on it for another week and see how NOD goes this weekend.

i just ripped another trade boost and im very happy with the result. it included another sidewards trade. if youre not ashamed to pull the trigger 2 weeks in a row you gotta be man enough to announce it to the board.

out: dawson sheldrick j.williams
in: short stephens brodie

ill run out of people to trade in before i run out of trades at this stage

10k short of going Whitfield>Short, so not sure what to do with Whitfield.

Not convinced with Bowey, just a week ago in round 1 he struggled to get near it. Like Hayden Young though..

Fair ****s with Bowey, but I think he's low risk/high reward playing the Salem role. He could score 60-odd most weeks and still find himself around $400k with 3 80s or even just 1 more 100+ score before the byes.

Young could be a keeper though.

Would deprive you of your cash in the bank but I'd go Whitfield > Hall every day of the week, personally.

The cash would be nice, but I don't think you'll need it in the near future, barring injuries.

If you **** Whitfield off now, I think you could go without trading for almost the next month.

Call me crazy kents but there's a part of me that is resisting my visceral hatred for Lachie Whitfield and thinking I may not trade this week...

The only cow that I've missed is DStephens and I would really like him as I feel like he's going to make a heap of $$$ quickly. I also want to send Whitfield on a one way trip out of my team and into the centre of the sun but truth be told, there isn't really a heap below him that I'd be super keen on downgrading him too. I actually really like Scrimshaw but unfortunately...

So a part of me is considering sitting on my 35 trades and just rolling with what I've got. I miss Stephens which sucks and I have to hold Shitfield which will cause what's left of my hair to fall out but this is where we're at. I'm not unhappy with my team - it's a bit hard to be after scoring 2500 in Round 2. Will think a bit and then probably make an irrational trade at work tomorrow because of time pressures and the fact that Stephens has to play in the ****ing first game of the round. Very annoying.

In the same situation with no trades yet and whitfield in. I'm going to hold him for this round, if he doesnt perform good then I'm assuming he is injured and dropping him

Do you have Ridley too? One of the biggest frustrations for me is owning both of them and not being particularly happy with either.

I feel like the Dons are going to get absolutely belted on Friday night and tbh I didn't really realise how poor Essendon's KPD stocks were - when James ****ing Stewart is your first choice, there's no wonder Ridley doesn't get to play loose.

IF (big IF) GWS aren't playing funny buggers and Whitfield isn't injured I think there's more chance of him getting "right" than Ridley but I just know there's a soft tissue injury around the corner. I can feel it in my bones

I have crisp instead. My backlines actually a bit weak, crisp, whitfield, hewett, hinge, gibcus mccartin. 3 rookies is a bit harsh but rest of the field makes up for it. I agree with the future injury concerns that you have, but he has the potential (if not injured) to pick up to a reasonable average, but for me this round is the decider.

I think getting Stephens is absolutely worth it in the long-run. Your on-field team looks fantastic, but you're not going to get huge cash gen any time from your bench rookies other than your forwards, and it's really going to hamper your ability to do upgrades.

Downgrade Stephens in just over a month and you'll lilely have enough cash to upgrade an on-field rookie to a super premo. MacDonald, Owens, and Hough won't afford you that luxury for quite a while.

I went with Bowey but I like Hayden Young. He appears to have a gull-friendly role, and worst case scenario, he's gonna make some quick cash with that 123 in his cycle for the next couple of weeks. BE of 30. Absolute worst case scenario he'll cost the same as Whitfield in a few weeks anyway.

All that being said, back your gut. If you think Whitfield can return to peak form, he'll be D1-D3 come end of this season.
