we have 4-6 players ruining it for the rest of the team with horrendous disposal and turnovers are killing us. What’s worst is it seems like they don’t look for the players who can actually kick the ball. If remove half those players we would look so much better.

Doing all the hard work but burning it with uncontested turnovers. Incredibly frustrating.

Moore is the barometer of this team, if we actually had players that could pass across the board every player looks better.

So Ceglar – 7 disposals, 0 scoreboard impact. 4 marks (none forward of centre). 67% time on ground for 14 hitouts.
McEvoy15 disposals, 1 behind. 8 marks. 69% time on ground for 19 hitouts.

What possible justification is there for playing Ceglar? And if the issue is McEvoy can’t ruck a full game then why give him the captaincy at all?

We literally carried two passengers in Ceglar & O'Brien in our forward-line today. And there are a whole bunch of other problems (midfield skills and composure mainly) but we can't really address that because we don't have the cattle. We can stop carrying two absolute liabilities.

Have way too many dumb footballers. Many of them also think they are better skilled that what they are

Horrible 1st quarter killed us, as well as in the centre and on the spread in the last (6 day break and travel may have had an impact on that)

Good:
- CJ. Just keeps doing his thing. Intercepting, taking the game on, not getting caught.
- Mitchell's 2nd quarter - that was Brownlow form. Good to see he's still go it.
- Moore - has a red hot crack. Is getting more confident.
- Being able to pull back a lead and bring the pressure.
- Mitch Lewis took 8 marks, I thought he did better than what a lot of people said.
- Mitchell, Wingard and O'Meara played the way you want your good senior players to play.

Bad
- The forward line.
- The inability to tackle Mundy. Far out he cuts us up way too often.
- Shocking games from O'Brien, Ceglar, Breust and Shiels. Breust at least did some good things when he went into the middle.
- Fumbling.

Ugly
- Playing for free kicks. Bloody disgusting. Mitchell and Wingard. Please stop.
- slow careful play in the first quarter.

If some knob on the match selection committee points to O'Brien's 2 goals as justification to select him next week, I'll be convinced that we're not actually in the football business anymore.

Just a front to sell advertising space.

Edit - 1 goal. My memory had him play a better game and this was still my conclusion.

Worpel just hacks it forward without even looking, Howe continues to make poor decisions. One too many players with poor kicking skills.

Cant question the effort and hunger after 1/4 time. Just cant give a 30 point head start

Don't want to lay into TOB but lost his feet a lot and didnt provide much. Needs a run in the VFL for confidence.

Tmitch/O'Meara/CJ/Moore great

Worpel Disagree had a great game curving Brayshaw who's right now an AA midfield and has been a driving force for Freo, to give him a bath most of the game was a huge effort, Yes his skill level does need to improve for him to take the next step but thought had a great defensive game

Hartigan had a mare, Thought Frost was average. Hartley good I thought

Ceglar needs to be better.

Breust was held by Conca which hurt when the ball was starting to come forward.

Like what Tyler Brockman brings.

Lewis is slow, I dont think he's a natural forward either, His leading isn't great and needs to show a bit more aggression and arms out on those leads

Wingard had an almost game. He got a few touches but he was just unlucky a few times today, the difference from a good and great game was a snap he always hits, a bit more composure end of the third to throw it on the boot

If only we had some pace, run and skill to bring in to the team, you know players like Greaves, Downie, Nash and maybe at a stretch Cousins. Guys that have played well for weeks in the VFL.

But no, instead we bring two talls and kept a ruckman who had 0 marks and kicks last week. Granted one of the talls was good, so credit to him. But the other has been completely average all year (career) and had absolutely no form coming in. Typically he showed us yet again why he should never ever play for the senior side.

Felt like I was watching the 2020 Hawthorn Hawks again today.

Too tall and too old.

We lacked the run and dare of the previous few rounds.

Why can't Clarko back in the youth, instead of chasing cheap wins?

How did this become the 'Michael Hartley will orchestrate our win' game? Why not give the backline quarterback role to Scrimshaw or Greeves.

He only kicked 1 and that was only because he dropped a mark

Chad Wingard looks dangerous every time he gets it. Quality player, hope he gets to play finals footy at Hawthorn at some point
I feel embarrassed that he chose us.

Bit unfair to single out TO'B. He had a least 10 mates with comparable games.

Moore was good. I thought Wingard tried hard all day

A few players - Tom, JO'M, Impey, Hardwick, CJ, etc. - if you only add up the good things they did were OK. Trouble is 20/22 probably had career high clanger or mistake stats.

I still don't see a lot to be optimistic about TBH. Too many too far off it. Too many will never be on it. Too few who might be on it one day, but it is fickle. A bad injury here, a dodgy off field decision there and it can pass you by.

A good game for the "hitout stats are pointless" crowd. Reckon more clean hitouts from Cegs/BB resulted in a Freo uncontested clearance than a Hawthorn one.

Tough match to watch. Hope the injuries aren't too bad.

Final thought: Are we dismissing the impact of Silk's on field coaching? We looked very disorganised at times today.

Thoughts and observations.
1) Frost is great, but needs better around him. Sicily and Day would help, DGB in a bit.
2) Hardwick gives his all. Moore too.
3) Breust wasn’t right. Carrying something?
4) Ceglar provides nothing.
5) Wingard is a star. Jars is a star. CJ is a star. Mitchell is a star... but.
6) Mitchell is also a plodder. JOM is a plodder. Phillips is a plodder.
7) Worpel needs a spell. Lacks confidence, and he won’t get that back playing out of position as tagger.
8) TOB is a poor mans Mitch Thorpe / Beau Dowler / Jordan Lisle. Would rather we blood Jeka, or go small And quick.
10) Morrison gets better every game he plays.
11) Sheils had a bad one. It happens.
12] Our running patterns are either not good enough, or not followed well enough. We don’t gel. At all.

13) Freo can GAGF.

14) I am drunk.

Frustrating conceding another big first quarter deficit. We really missed Sicily today, as he would have reduced a lot of those marks inside 50 Dockers forwards kept getting, although lack of midfield pressure wasn't helping our defenders. We looked at least one decent tall defender short today, which is odd given everyone thought we were going in too tall, but maybe it was the quality not the quantity that mattered.

I can forgive TOB dropping mark after mark, as he is giving the small forwards a chance to compete on the ground, but his lack of involvement in the rest of the game is hard to accept, especially given he's decently mobile for a tall forward (Lewis did a much better job of this than TOB, and is less mobile).

Hardwick and Impy good again. CJ too. Moore good and Brockman much better this week after a very quiet game last week.

How did McEvoy look so spent by the end of the game when we have two rucks? Freo completely rolled us in the midfield in the last, but it can be hard to have enough left in the tank when you've had to come back from a 5 goal deficit.

On the positive side, if we removed our slow starts, we'd have had winning chances in all our games so far, but our general skill level is depressing at times.

Except for the time he tried to pinpoint a 45 metre pass into the centre which cost a goal
