So apparantley Goddard called out Brown for his weak flop on the weekend and now the Norfies are mashing their keyboards in fantastic angrily fashion.
Good. I usually like watching him play except for the ridiculous run-ups from Broome and the incessant flopping about staging for frees.

... Guess I don't like watching him play really

Some of you need to relax a bit.

North is not playing well but it's unlikely that they will get sucked into playing a game we want to play - Scott brothers' coaching 101 is setting up to negate an opponent.

North will get all the basics right, they'll keep sweepers behind the ball to block the counter from half back and they'll hold onto the ball if they're bottled up by our zone (which is the opposite of what Brisbane did).

It's the sort of game in which McMillan and Thompson will reach deep into those "wily annoying bastard" playbooks of theirs and probably end up with 30 possessions each.

Goldstein is still an excellent technician so I expect that he and Bellchambers will negate each other, meaning that the clearance battle is likely to be fought in close where they will have an advantage.

I agree that if we can get the game played in space we will shred North but we'll have to get it there and we can't assume that we will. They've just beaten Adelaide using the blueprint required against us (while I didn't watch North v Adelaide you don't need to watch an Adelaide game to know how they lose, particularly when it is low scoring).

If the game is played out true to form and set-up, particularly with our very strong defensive showing against Brisbane, it will be an unattractive scrap that looked like Collingwood v Dogs on Friday (which is the equivalent game I did watch). I think the gap in formline, if there is one, is closed by a week or two given that North has just practiced the game it will need to play.

Then again, it's North v Essendon and weird stuff is bound to happen.

I'd start us as slight favourites. I would be very surprised if the margin is greater than 20 points either way.

Changes:
Francis for Ridley if injured
Daniher for Zac Clarke if he’s ready.
Joey may as well get some kms into his legs this round, don’t want him scratchy for Anzac Day.

I worry about changing the two ruck structure - its working.

it reminds me of josh Greens first year - he wasn't doing much, people called for his head - he got injured and came out, we started losing for no other reason than the structure changed.

I think Clarke is the same, might not be doing much but the structure he brings makes it worthwhile

You're right. We need Josh Green back!

I think I'm just going watch Kayne Turner this game. Beyond staggering how he continues not only still be in the AFL, but plays every single week.

I've never actually seen him do anything. Like, ever. That being said I never saw James Cousins do anything at either level but he had a really good game on the weekend

It will be nice for Norf to play in front of a crowd larger than family and friends! their crowds have been so bad i dont think even their family members are showing up now.

Wont be a blow out but I'd suspect it will be a tight tussle early with us easing away in 2nd and 3rd with us putting the que in the rack in the last and the margin looking respectable enough for Norf.

interesting with the numbers, we're on top in clearances, contested possessions, centre clearances and tackles, while they seem to have the marshmallow stuff covered off by being better at uncontested possessions. Ultimately we'll wear down their enthusiasm for the contest with the attack on the footy and then start harvesting their slow moving meat on the outside.

No change unless dictated I'd say.

They've played in front of 42.7% capacity so far this year. We've played in front of 57% capacity this year.

How is it working? It happens to coincide with victories?

There is not a known measurement that could accurately describe how quickly I would drop Clarke for Daniher (even a Daniher I'm just playing for structural reasons - accepting that it will take some time for him to build form).

Well, the victories are the measure i'm running with as we speak... We have looked infinitely better, is it structural, or just attitude and confidence based?

But more precisely the mere fact that (without looking at the numbers) I assume tbell is only spending 50% of time in the ruck - (and still laboring) Having him ruck in spurts is making him less of a liability and more effective when there imho (not potting him, he's clearly hampered)

It doesn't have to be Clarke and Tbell, it can be any combo of Tbell, Clarke or Draper, but proper rucks, not part timers.

I don't wish to revisit JD in the ruck coming back from calf/OP and all the rest of it. The ghost of Salmon still haunts.

Tbell has to be playing injured. Rest him and either Draper or Joe if he's ready to replace. Francis in for Ridley if true. Other than that no change as we all enjoy the Bags/Myers/Brown Thursday I'm done with this club they are all dead to me death to Woosha burn the club heck raise the whole suburb melts..
