Is it worth me bringing in the likes of Evans or Mayes this week for Viney? Was looking at holding off on trading this week but i dont want to miss one of the two if they are worth jumping on? Could even get both(Evans for Viney and Mayes for Macaffer if Caff not named). Have already used 6 trades but my side looks pretty decent(I think anyway) and everyone is playing. Do i burn another two this week leaving me with 22 and begin my upgrades next week?

Just crunching some numbers after looking into possible trades for this week.

IF i went Viney-Evans and Caff-Mayes this week. Then Stevenson-Docherty and Dwyer-Kerridge next week i'll have 555k odd in the kitty but only 20 trades. Good idea? Then my $$$ would allow me to go Neade to Buddy and Pittard-Hanley/Hartlett/Shaw etc in a couple weeks time.

Alot of water to go under the bridge before then!!

Alright so im a bit stuck on what to do this week. The players on the block are

Sipposs (can he get on the park?)
Karnezis (Dud)
And Viney (looks to be struggling not just points wise).

Got 220k in the bank so options are there. Sipposs to SJ and Karnezis to Mayes seems like a good balance and the most logical way to go.

The other idea I had was to sideways Viney to George Horlin-Smith... Just reckon this kid is going to rip it up from here on out but meh.. I sound a bit crazy.

Edit: I'm happy to stick it out with Sipposs if he can get on the park. Does anyone know the situation with him?

I'm not sure if I'd use 2 trades to bring in 2 players on the bubble. You'll only get the 90k+1k from the trades this week. I mean you'll get whatever cash the 2 newcomers earn you next week but another 2 trades is required to upgrade one or both. But I can see why you're worried!! I've got both Viney and Macaffer too, I think just about everyone does haha I'll hold tight with Viney will probably take another 4-6 weeks now... Macaffer isn't going anywhere soon, but I've always been a little sketchy on his job security. At least he's earned enough cash to warrant a trade :p

Move Cox into rucks
Blicavs -> A. Walker
Karnezis -> Mayes

I could do M.Wright -> Cloke or Westhoff, but I think I've missed the Hoff boat. It would just mean I have to bench Karnezis and play both Mayes + Neade :S
Thoughts on Andrew Walker? Any other good options around the 450-490k mark? Either ruck or forward, getting desperate!! :p

I like Walker as that option but he needs to continue to play the role he has had to start the season. If Mick throws him into a fwd role again its curtains for Walkers big scoring potential

One small issue dude - you can't swap Blicavs into the forward line. He's RUC/MID, not RUC/FWD =/ Tried to do the same thing myself a few weeks ago haha.
It works, I've just got to move Cox from fwd to ruck first! I've already done it :p But if I didn't have Cox as a fwd then it wouldn't work.

You would make approx 70k from 2 trades for players who who still have very low B/E's. Without improving your teams scoring by much if any.

Just on this issue of what a trade is worth.......this is how I see it, right or wrong.

Viney is at 193, Evans at 115.....so a Viney to Evans trade is, today, worth 80k.
BUT, becuase of Viney's 9 rolling thru the next 3 weeks, he is ~ at his average score, only going to increase 40k over the next 3 weeks.
Evans on the other hand, he averages slightly higher than Viney already, is due to increase 180k over the same period; again, if he hits his average, which again, is slighty higher than Vineys, albeit over 2 games rather than 4 games.

So.....the rule of thumb used to be a trade was worth 200k. If I gain 80k from Viney-Evans now, plus I gain another 180k over the next 3 weeks as opposed to Viney's 40k increase.....isnt it a trade worth considering? I get potentially the same score every week (if we disregard that Evans averages 20 pts a week more) but I do make 220k on the deal over 3 weeks.

That's a lot of ifs in there. You are assuming that Viney wont bounce back this week and that Evans has JS based on a few 4th 1/4 junk time goals against a team even crappier than Melb. For argument sake, lets say Dees get smashed by Brissy this week & Evans has a shit game/very little impact...whilst Viney wasn't much better...but tried hard in a losing side. Who do you think will be sent back to the magoos? My point is a guy like Evans will always be one of the first dropped unless he performs week in week out. So far he's performed well once.

Thats true Ging....its a lot of what ifs. But I think thats what also makes SC so compelling, risk vs reward. From everything I have read, Viney has a niggle and 'may' get a rest. This is all based on team sheets this week.....but I just think its important to weigh up everything. None of this is scientific, in the end we are all guessing. At the start of the season, which Melb rook would you have preferred? Matt Jones or Viney ? 99% would have said Viney.....yet Matt Jones has made more money, played better, scored higher.....and you wouldnt be wondering if you should dump him. I'm just saying that sometimes we have to think outside the box.....if Viney is rested and Evans plays two more games, the trade is still worth 180k. The same scenario is going to play out next week in Defense.....the Port kids and Luke Brown Vs bubbble boy Docherty up in Brisbane. Before the next round, its looking compelling to drop Brown for Doch....again, it will be a guess but a rook trade that garners 100/150/200k has to be considered.

Interesting that you refer to the "Port kids" simonoz ... Heath is 21, Pittard 22 and Stevenson 23 with 38 AFL games between them, while Docherty is 19 and has one.

Not that it's not a worthwhile trade, mind you ...

Def - Hanley , Goodes , Yarran , Hurn , Henderson , Rance ( Stevenson emer , J Frost )
MID - Watson , Fyfe , Gibbs , Monfries , Heppell , Danger , Rich , O'Meara ( Viney emer , Kommer )
RUC - Goldy , Leuey ( Rowe emer , Blicavs )
FWD - Rioli , WC kennedy , Christensen , Jenkins , Neade , Cameron ( Macaffer emer , Hampton )
Christ. You're right - you have some big problems.

Time to start trading your ass off. I wouldn't even know where to start on those, maybe Rich to Mayes to cash up?

Looking to upgrade ruck to Luey and want to bring in Mayes. I can't do both because I'm 10k short.
Do I bring Mayes > Caff & downgrade Stevenson > Docherty...bank 185k? Then grab Luey (proj 365k) > Blicavs next week?
Or skip Mayes altogether and get Luey now?

Any other type trades for other improvements are welcome. Cheers.
Maric to Leuy, swing Cox in to the ruck?? Depends how desperate you are for Leuy.

DEF: Birchall, Hanley, Goddard, Hartlett, Goodes, Docherty, Frost, Colquhoun

MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Selwood, Cotchin, Fyfe, Wines, O'Meara, Viney, Crouch

RCK: Bellchambers, Blicavs, Currie, Witts

FWD: Franklin, Rioli, A.Walker, Martin, Dwyer, Rowe, Lee, Macaffer

Any gaping holes you guys can see? I'm pretty happy with my backline and midfield, more concerned about my rucks, was thinking Currie to Daw?

Replace the word 'kids' then and insert "rookie priced player"......its just semantics how old they are and how many games they have played in the end, all that really matters is JS and price movement.

I hear what your saying. those trades dont make my side much better, if any better at all. However Mayes in for Macaffer, although only netting me 1k is a must trade IMO. Caff looks set to lose his spot very very soon when all the stars return and when he is playing he is only pushing out scores of 50-60. Mayes on the other hand has two scores in the 70's and has much better JS in my eyes. Therefore this trade makes my fwd line stronger, even though next to no money was made on the trade. Due to Viney's 9 he now has the highest BE of all my rookies and i dont want to miss out on a player on the bubble such as Evans. As has been mentioned, with Evans' 116 on the weekend even if his scores start to diminish he will rise in price considerably over the next few weeks and worst comes to worst and he turns out to either be a SC dud or gets dropped back to the ressies he can always go for another cheap rookie, having atleast made me some coin.
