I was not annoyed with McStays game this week looked more switched on.. If he kicked 3 goals no one would be saying as much. if anyone needs a bag for confidence it is him. You think he would know Wooler wants his spot although might be worth a few weeks in the 2's to get confidence.
Would not be suprised he kicks 4 next week.

or zero again :) he he

Well done to Robbo and the rest of the midfield today.Thought they were the difference with their spread.Noah Answerth with a great debut.Sorry Dan you need a spell in the Neafl.

Yeah, difference was light and day between last week and this week. Still unbelievably frustrating but he really put in today.

Yep at this stage Dan needs to do more, I'd go Toby Wooller or if they want to add another small for forward half pressure Keays/Cox/T.Berry.

I still think Dan can be a good player for us though, just go back to the NEAFL and work on a few things.
Both Wooller and Keays would have to offer more than Dan McStay at the moment. And not making a change could cost us a victory. I'm desperate to finally beat the Swans again. Keays has kicked 12 goals in the last 3 NEAFL games, is 2nd in the NEAFL goalkicking behind Hammelmann and is knocking on the door loudly. His marking has improved this year and he might have come in for McCarthy but for those 2 last quarter goals.
Wooller also has something to offer.
No chance of Cox who hasn't played the last 2 weeks or Tom Berry who is not getting enough of it in the NEAFL yet.

I just listened to Chris Fagan's presser and Dan McStay will not be dropped for the Swans game, he mentioned that him and Hipwood are doing their job well and it's not all about kicking goals.

Good. Literally every thread is turning into McStay chat, can we have it in the preview thread?

At the very least let’s leave it out of the neafl thread lol.

Yep. Clubs with good cultures eventually reward great form in the reserves by replacing passengers. The longer McStay gets carried the worse it is. I get that he ‘tries’ but I’d anyone seriously suggesting Keays wouldn’t try?

So we should skip Keays and draft Hammelmann by the sound of things

Puzzling. Fagan clearly has a blind spot. Like Voss and Sam Sheldon all over again. I’ve said my piece. Will not mention McStay for the next week. If I do, I will change my avatar to his picture forever.

Is it? We're one of the top scoring teams.

Clearly the forward line is functioning quite well

More than happy with that win, our previous biggest win against the Suns at home was 11 points. We never play that ground well and Suns usually start the year better than us. Overall pretty pleased!
There was so much local footy on today. My son’s footy meant we couldn’t go.
Maybe if your son played for the Lions this wouldn't be a problem. Ever thought about that?

Hope Lyons can keep that effort level up. Clearly fired up to play GC though.

Josh Walker just gets better and better. Didn't miss Harris Andrews.

Lol In the press conference fagan said it's hard to change a winning team. Really can't see him overlooking Harris if he's available.

He also even said he was sticking up for Rayner cause he's been copping a bit recently. Mentioned Cyril and degooey and their numbers in early years.

They must be readin bigfooty. .

He also did well in keeping Collins away from taking intercept marks. Collins has been important for GC in the last few weeks starting the rebound with his intercept marking.

It's almost like there's some sort of Lions_Insider on the Big Footy boards o_O

McStay had a really frustrating game but it's worth noting that Collins didn't have the impact intercepting the ball as he normally did. I suspect McStay was trying to draw him away from the corridor, hence why he seemed to be out wide on the flanks a lot.

Arguably it's faint praise for a key forward to say he negated the opposing full back pretty well, but I suspect McStay still made a contribution.

I reckon hodge has earned a rest next week. Was looking pretty shot at the end and Harris should be back (was running well at the end of the past week).

Was thinking about that earlier. If Harris is fit I'd be open to bringing him in for Hodge and keeping Lester in the Hodge role.

We really dominated the game from start to finish but just didn’t get the rewards for our dominance early. Gee our goal kicking was terrible in the first half. Some really good performances out there today. Really excited about Noah Answerth. He looks a tidy little small defender.

I can’t get over how thick Rayner is in the flesh. He’s a sausage that’s for sure. So much talent in this teams it’s just a matter of them learning how to use it.
