Yeah with all the Harley hype Long has gone under the radar.

Despite playing a different role to Chesser he is getting similar amount of the ball but Chess has actually hit the scoreboard more often (although not a lot by either)

Hopefully Long stays in and has a big derby

In other injury news Razor Ray has just revealed he will be back from injury and umpiring his first game for the year in the derby…. Gonna be some whistle happy umpiring going on.

Razor's comeback game. Egads...this could be next level, look at me, officiating.

Petro+Cripps definitely stay, but if Ryan comes in it would be to play the Brockman/Rawlinson role...

I can't imagine Long would be dropped. Not sure why his name has been raised. We notice the likes of Cole and Chesser because they've done some good things and some bad things. Long is a bit like LEdwards in that he's playing a role and doing what he needs to do so you don't really notice him.

Changes this week could be as simple as who replaces Luke Edwards and there’s six viable options albeit some people won’t be happy about a couple of those options

• Gaff - been in the doghouse since being dropped after R1. Been putting up solid numbers in the WAFL and has been an exemplary teammate in the young side. Think we’re better with younger options though
• Sheed - has played 2 games coming back from a long layoff. Think he’ll eventually come into the side but could do with another week in the WAFL at least as he regains touch and match fitness
• Trew - seems to have been the most consistent WAFL performer amongst the young group and arguably deserves a crack. Main problem is he’s an inside mid and Edwards role was more outside. If we bring him in it would be better if we can play him to his strengths
• Hall - still finding touch after missing a few weeks. He’s close but WAFL form not quite good enough to get a promotion yet
• Ryan - we need him in the side asap but only when he’s properly fit. Looked good from the WAFL highlights but only played about 60% game time. Another week in the WAFL to build his fitness won’t hurt

My choice is Harvey Johnston

Been solid in the WAFL. Reports are that he’s been strong defensively and he’s been playing the same wing role that Edwards has been playing

Play him as the sub the same way we did with Rawlinson to give him a taste
Has to be Sheed if he is fit, and I think this is the way the MC will go (despite the animus toward him of some/many on this forum).

Johnston, like Rawlinson, is not yet ready for the AFL. We need a midfielder who starts the game not one who is the substitute.

FWIW I thought Ryan was at his best in 2020 playing HHF/Wing.

Imo his delivery, ball use, speed and footy smarts are underutilised playing deep. He's not a traditional ground ball, opportunistic stoppage small forward, he's really a bit of everything but I think his most damaging role is ball-carrier.

When/if he can get his fitness to the level I'd like to see him play up the ground, around the ball.

Noticed Harley say in his presser yesterday after the rising star

"Dont know much about them but we've lots the last 5"

Love that comment! Feel like its been spoken about and we come out hunting

Id give my left testicle for a win this week and HR winning the Glendenning medal

I love my eagles but, offering up a testicle(s) for a win in a non-GF seems a little extreme, albeit Harley wining the GM would be nice.

But if it's yours..... whohooooo I am on that train and hopefully the footy gods love testes!

Livestreaming or are we taking your word for it?

No to Ryan on the HBF for me.

The only positive is the MOTY contenders he'd take.

He's brilliant linking up and delivering inside 50, if not kicking goals himself.

Maybe in time Yeo will move to the HBF when the other mids are more capable of handling themselves.

I still think Jones has something to offer back there. He always takes a while to get going but for me is AFL standard, just needs to get rid of his bad games and be more consistent.

I think if there's one thing this whole board can agree on, it's that WCE_Phill's left testicle is expendable for a small derby win.

Lol i got carried away a little 🤣

The but hurt from Freo would be hilarious and almost worth a testie

Initially that’s what I thought but then I remembered that’s pretty well what happened with Jetta in that he became the attacking half back. That was hugely successful and maybe Ryan could also bring something to that role.

I don’t know that Ryan would be happy about it though…..lives a goal and a speccy

For what it's worth I don't have a preference.

I’m prepared to go one step further and say that I’m willing to sacrifice both Phill’s nuts for the cause.

I'm suggesting Ryan 'might' come in for a forward role against Freo. We could use more firepower up front, no doubt they'll be focussing on Jake after his big haul.
Ryan has done some work at half back in the WAFL and Simmo said it was to freshen him up and that role might come in handy in the future, but doubt it would be against Freo? But Agree that it would be very Jetta like with skills and precise kicking if/when that did happen...

It's a derby.
Freo are going to want to shut us down and try quell whatever momentum we bring in from last weeks win.
It is going to be a tough and contested game so whoever we bring in is going to have to be pretty hardened and ready for a contest.
Therefore I would say minimal changes, particularly bringing in someone with only 1 WAFL game under their belt.
Trew or Hall are probably my pick to come in for Edwards unless the two weeks Sheed has had is considered enough and they put experience first.

If I am putting my money on one I will go my boy Trew. Has probably had the most consistent form in the 2's as well.
