what good rookies are there priced $149,900 or under that are either forward or back?

Shai Bolton fwd comes at 146k, JS no idea.
Jay Lockhart (mid/def), Josh Rotham (def) down back if named.
Can’t see Rotham being named, Lockhart might be a chance.

Baker and Ross - chances they get another 3-4 weeks in the seniors?
Cotchin setback presumably helps Ross temporarily, Baker I guess we’ll know a bit more about if he retains his spot when Riewoldt returns.

Trade into positive value, not negative value.
Yeah, the price tag does make things tricky, as does his consistency - it's unlikely he pulls out a 70 or 80 and drops $60k in the next few weeks. It's going to be hard to get him in no matter what and there's a window here.

The other option is to go someone like Bont or Shiel seeing as I've only got two mids with a R12 bye.

Need help on trades thinking about downgrading ldu to Ross and then upgrading Parker to Caleb Daniel. Any other suggestions. C734B095-4E81-49AF-BC29-E3FF5CAB025C.jpeg

Don't do it. Surely there are more pressing issues you need to address? I think there would be many other trading options available to you. You might be able to get 'creative' with another trade but i dont care how well ROB is doing, Gawn and Grundy are the top 2 rucks in the game, just enjoy the money ROB makes. Yes, he's going to average a fair bit but i think you need to be happy with him on the bench. You can do some other downgrade that may cost you even more points but it will still be a better option than trading a premium who you will only get back later. Maybe if the Preuss effect was real or if Grundy looked to be struggling with that toe injury but that is not the case, not only do you lose points per week but you lose future trading options which could result in huge opportunity loss. That means when you are making that extra trade to get Gawn/Grundy back you could've been trading a rookie or MP option to a premium. Even if that extra trading option is simply a downgrade, you are losing a potential cash generating trade because you are trading in a premium that you once owned. Yes, it would be nice to have ROB on field but that isnt how ROB adds value to your team, its the money he makes that matters.

EDIT: If ROB was averaging as much as Gawn and Grundy then i could see the value in the trade because then you wouldn't need to trade Gawn/Grundy back in but ROB won't average as much as them.
I've got ROB at R3 & I agree with you ......but I've seen a number of sides on here the last 2 days, that have ROB at R2

It's a very interesting discussion though ....the $500K you save can upgrade 2 failing Rookies to premo's ...their points will outstrip any points differential beween ROB and Gawn / Grundy ....the question is, you're likely to require 2 trades to get Gawn / Grundy back in

Who knows. I think Collins can make another 50k+ quite easily. Clark hasn't show that he can score and his JS is going to be iffy now that Touhy's back.
Yes Collins could get to 350k, but he could also fall in value too if he stinks it up again that's what I'm worried about with him as his price point is up around a 55-60 average now and scoring 40s will see him go backwards. Collins' JS is arguably the best out of all defensive rookies, but yeah, would prefer to upgrade him at the right time

Ross just got a JS boost as apparently Cotchin reinjured himself or something

I could do Cousins to Ross
Collins/Clark to Daniel via Burgess DPP

Collins will give me 111k leftover, Clark 50k

Thoughts on this bunch of misfits kenties? 26 trades, $253,300 in the bank
View attachment 660432

Currently thinking of going Parker -> Baker and Clark -> Sicily, doesn't leave much in the bank but know for sure will be slaughtering one of the mid cows for Hately next week. I can't justify bringing in Ross as Gibbons and Atkins still have negative BEs and I get basically the same amount of $$$ from Parker -> Baker as I would from Scott -> Ross. JS on any of those Richmond rookies is iffy though... any thoughts appreciated :moustache:

If it were me I'd look at 2 options:

1. Upgrade Atkins to Rockcliff

2. Trade Atkins to Lockhart, opens up the DPP to swing Duursma to the midfield ....then trade Parker to Heeney

"Now scoring 40s"...you mean A 40 because the 3 pervious games he scored 86, 79 & 87 = 3 game average of 84.

It really depends on how important the amount of left over cash is to you going forward. I would still trade Clark though. Geel team selections will be interesting this week.

Do you think Rocky is a must have? I was thinking of going to Lloyd and a rookie

I wouldn't say he's a must have, but I do think he's an upgrade on Sheed. I thought about rookie instead also. It would certainly help to upgrade that forward line a lot quicker. Which mid rookie do you like?

I can't bring myself to trust Rockliff at all but I had never thought of option 2 and that looks quite interesting to me. Helps get a fwd rookie off the field and I guess having 3 def campaigners isn't too bad (for now) given they're scoring okay. Food for thought. Thank you :moustache:

Seems like Ross is the go to for everyone here, Lloyd and Laird both have high breakevens so I might wait a week and single or double downgrade to go big next week. Burning through a lot of trades though, which I'm not happy about.

My thinking was that, unless you started with him, it still takes two trades to use him as an ATM at R3, but the upgrades the immediate injection of half a million in cash allowed will be a net benefit over the Gawn points lost.

really?
replacing a mid price player thats holding his own with a premo that has a similar average and a rather large B/E?

surely there's a better way you can improve your team.

I mean, obviously you're right. Just looking at all possible angles I guess.

What would you do with this>?

In light of your suggestions, I could trade out Rozee+Duusma/Parker then and pickup BSmith and a rookie. I'm not sure that Brodie Smith makes the premium cut. I'd prefer to get Hurn, Ryan or Laird (probably in that order but happy to convinced otherwise) so maybe I am getting too trigger happy on the cows and need to wait until I've built up some bank.

I can't find any rookies that I can dump Rozee for this week, so I might have to just sit for a week. I'm not excited by dumping Parker for Barker this week, as there's only 50k in it, and the other rookies I have scored enough to justify holding on for a week or two.

Thanks again for the advice

Imho Smith is one you start with not trade in .
Look to get the best players in there positions..Or at least top 10 in their sections.
Rozzee needs to upgraded maybe not this week but before hes bye.

You will have a very good team just takes awhile for the cows to make money.
