Even though Oliver's recent record against the Tiges is modest by his standards and suprisingly the MCG is not his favourite scoring venue, I would still pick him over Neale this week. It might just be a perception and I haven't looked into the numbers for this year but the Tiges give up big points to opposition mids and I expect Olliepig to score well against them this time around. Neale found some form last week but he'll have Ed Curnow on his tail for the whole game this week and if I recall correctly Ed kept him to something like 6 SC points after being moved on him after 1/2 time the last time these 2 teams met at Marvel. Two years is a long time though so might not be relevant. Similar b/e's but apart from the game were MDB tagged him out of the contest, Oliver has been in pretty good form this year. There might be a touch of subconscious Dees bias at work here but I would take Oliver right now if I could choose only one.
Great summary. :thumbsu:

I have that same choice this week between Oliver and Neale and I'll be going with Neale. In that game you mentioned where Curnow tagged him he still managed 106 points which is above his BE, but I agree if Curnow tags him for the whole match he's likely to score much less. But after that match he's likely to go back to scoring 135+ in most games and his price will quickly go up. It's also worth noting that in the other 5 of his last 6 games against Carlton he scored 130+ and got 14 of the possible 15 Brownlow votes. Curnow played in all those games, but I don't know if he tagged Neale. If he did then the tags weren't effective. If he didn't it would suggest he's no certainty to do it this week. I expect he will though as Neale's problems with a tag have been better publicised this year.

So I expect Neale may drop just a little this week before his price flies up again. Oliver may go up this week but I think he'll be hovering just above his current price for most of the year and easier than Neale to pick up later. Both players are great trade ins this week though and should be in everyone's final team.

From an outsiders perspective, what would you do with my side this week?

Personally wouldn’t be making a trade this week with this team. I don’t think Jones is that important to your structure having already 6 gun defs (inc laird and daniel?) and chappy and kosi. Maybe if Kosi is out you could go to Jones.

Otherwise i’d wait a week and get Macrae in next week.

I think that's an accurate summation.

I already have Lachie (held him since the start), so will be looking at getting Piggy in.

Also, should have enough in the bank to get Ridley and Helmet in over the next few weeks as they bottom out, as well as Brayshaw, which completes my defence and leaves me with 6 premo mids.

Pending Friday and Saturday teams.
Berry-Jones via Sharp dpp
Jones-McCreery
Out of the 3 replies so far, yours is most similar to my current thinking. Berry to L. Jones via Sharp is a lock. Covers Ridley too.

Then Campbell or H. Jones go McCreery is an option for extra cash. They’re both not going to make much more money the way they’re going.

Im a bit stumped this week.
Clark to young seems obvious.
Campbell to McCreery. maybe.
What would you guys do if this were your team?

Campbell to mcreery- 130k in bank
Clark to Jones - 285k in bank

next week
Warner to f Macrae- basically 500k in the bank
Berry to Neale with 100k left over to do a downgrade upgrade the week after

nice team mate

With the news LDU is probably back

I'll go
Clark to Jones
Tom Phillips to Neale
Or Tom Phillips to Dusty
Umming and aahing on Phillips, myself.
Has not fired to date and it's the easiest path to a Neale / Oliver.
The fixture heading into his bye is good, though, they've got Adelaide in Tas, Saints, North in Tas, Carlton, GCS', Syd over the coming weeks.

Following week you could go.
Campbell-Macrae
Chapman-Best available mid via Laird

Def complete with good coverage in Def and Mids with Sharp dpp.

Yep pretty close to what im thinking currently.
I may trade berry this week and loop campbell.
I think Berry gets dropped.
If i trade berry over campbell i have 3 active loopholes for the week.
scott into jordon
Campbell into jordon/powell
kosi into Jones.

Yeah if you’re committing to the double downgrade this week I guess it doesn’t matter who you trade. Berry would be the first I’d go too if I was going to do this! I do like the sound of those loops though haha

Go with your gut

This is the current plan.

If Guiden is dropped and Berry plays I may swap them which would mean $210K in the bank. Would rather hold Guiden though as he would surely be back and has more money to make. Berry has been a disappointing rookie after a good start, expect him to be out soon.

Next week will be two rookies out to Finn Macrae and a forward, maybe Martin if I can afford him. Really need to get a rookie off field in the forward line.

??? Why would Gulden be dropped? Who started this lol

That's excellent, cheers 👍
Yeah, the Tigers one is interesting.
Always wondered about it because a lot of cluey people said they give up big MID scores, and when I looked at it, they were only about midrange.
But when you break the MIDs out into premos (say >100 avg) and non-premos, there's this effect where the premos rack up good scores and the also-rans tend to go a little lower. Was really interesting.

Horse is a campaigner with rookies. This is known.

There were quotes from him posted somewhere saying their rookies would need a rest. Doesn't mean this week necessarily, but I guess they see a game against the suns as a good one to play a few spuds like Lewis Taylor and give the rookies a week off. Buddy out might change that.

Horse has alluded to the rookies maybe needing a rest.

They're forced to change Hickey & Franklin so I doubt there's many changes beyond them two, it definitely wouldn't be Gulden dropped unless Horse is on crack. Probably Wicks, Campbell or McDonald (although unlikely to be McDonald given buddy is out)
