He really loving he's football at the moment so happy for him :D and I bet he's having a ball teaching our younger players

Family also settled he said after the game and he definitely seems like a popular bloke at the club. The risk of him destroying our culture seems to be zero atm!

Hi guys and gals,

Well done on the win! Fantastic to see the Lions get the win over such a powerful team, despite how woeful they played. Just wanted to say how impressed I am with the acquisition of Beams, Christensen, and Robinson. All three were brilliant tonight. Well done again!

Best of luck for the remainder of the season! (yes, even the next Q-Clash - first draft pick here we come :p )

We played with confidence, passion and want for the ball.

And we knocked off a premiership contender.

Just increasing my trust in What Leppa is trying to achieve.

Only downside is Eddie will use it to say that we need no help.

Can only get excited about the future ahead, we just knocked off a apparent top 4 contender:)

Paparone hasn't been as bad as some have suggested. He's clearly best used as a roaming mid sized player and, in the games where he hasn't had to play as a key tall, he's done pretty well.

Yeah, as a defensive match up (and probably what he will end up developing into), Westhoff is the perfect matchup. Paps pretty much is being crafted into that tall wingman that can fill a hole down back but also stream forward and score. Did a great job today.

Thought Rich got us going in first half. They tried to tighten up on him but our tails were up. The most pleasing thing was the team stuck to their structures and forced port wide limiting them from carving us up the middle for most of the game. The right game plan and well executed. Good play all round.

Beams has been steadily working into his groove, has been getting a lot of it but hasn't had ideal support but whoa man, anyone who doubted the value he would bring to the club got schooled; his best game for the club
Stef has been humungous, he has seriously been everywhere. It's like that old footy ad where Roo won the ball kicked it and then marked it. Ruck and mid.
Robbo was able to bring that hardness that he's offered and was able to spend more time around the forward half where his pressure and overhead ability was extremely valuable. Loved his game and loving his move to the club.
Rich couldn't stop getting his hands on the ball. He must be relishing clubs tagging Rocky and Beams. **** sticking him at half back, he can give us great drive from there but if we can have him getting touches in the mids we are winning.
Lester has had two very good game back to back. Numerous efforts by him that resulted in absolutely no stats constantly created opportunities for us. Really appreciated his game and that mark and goal; whoa. It might just have clicked for him, big bodied mid who can take a mark up forward is just what the doctor ordered.
Aish had a great game. I rate him so much but part of me struggles to get attached but I hope some of the moments he experienced tonight really helped him realise he is part of a team that wants him there and can succeed. Good chance he'll leave but hopefully he realises he's part of a team that can be successful and cares about him being a part of it.
Green has got his form back: yay!
Paps getting better with each game. I'm getting giddy about Merrett coming back, could loosen him up even more. Snatching marks all over the shop and pushing play forward, very valuable.
N Robbo is looking good. Confident at this level. Leppa patient with him and it's paid off. Don't see him dropping to the ressies any time soon.
Leuie had his best game in a while and his best game playing a significant portion up forward. Really showed the Steburger combo can work. Just needed to show he can have an impact up forward and he did and around the ground too. Loved it.

Very happy. Gonna ride this win all week.

Nah not really ... I heard no cheer or anything during the game.

He was in their huddle at the quarter breaks, but tonight he was wearing a different shirt trying to dismantle us.

Too bad Vossy! (Legend).

Oh well. I was hoping there was one moment with him walking alone by the boundary and a roar went up beside him.

I'm a romantic though.

The thing that impressed me the most about today's win was Marco Paparone's game down back. His reading of the play and ability to help out his fellow defenders and take those intercept marks was great. I think he may have found his new role now.

He's been schooled in defense and the improvement of his reading of the play has been great for his game. He's been average when matched against a direct tall opponent but thankfully young Harry's form has allowed him to play the role he seems born to play. Looking fantastic.

How we have missed Rocky. He and D'Beams are starting to get a groove on. Stef just keeps powering on - playing with zest and purpose. And pantsing Port ? Loved the link-up play of Bundy - he is class.

I'm actually starting to believe that our game plan is 'lose the first 5 and lull the competition into a false sense of security :p

Seriously though, I convinced my mate to start following footy/Brisbane this year and have felt so horrible most of the year watching our boys under perform week in week out...last week was a relief but this, this was a joy to watch. Just immensely satisfying to see everything come together so well

Big shout out to the crowd, when I heard the 'lions' chant coming though the TV I knew we had it, there was no losing from that point

There's a member who sits near me who turns up to every game in Port gear and cheers for whoever plays the Lions. More annoyingly, he laughs whenever something goes wrong for Brisbane, as if he takes great amusement from watching us fail.

For nearly three years, we've been talking about how good it would be, after seeing team after team beat the Lions, if Port came up here and we beat them.

Well, we got our wish tonight. And, in the spirit of good sportsmanship, I'd just like to say to that Port fan - "eat a dick, you ********ing campaigner".

In a similar vein, we had a group of loud obnoxious port fans near us. A whole family of them, Brother, Sister their 4 children, other brother, mother, sisters friend, and one woman who looked like Dogget from orange is the new black. My favourite moment of the game was about 10 minutes into the last, when we had scored and port had responded with a behind, and I turned to politely mention to them that they weren't winning... and they had all gone home.

What a performance, what a bloody great performance. The Lions over the last 2 weeks have consolidated my 2 eldest kids as diehard Lions supporters. Effort is an amazing thing. God we clearly had a very simple game plan last night and it bloody worked.

1.Attack the footy hard
2.Move it forward at all costs
3.Chase, chase, chase
4.Work to get numbers to the contest

Lester was so instrumental in this game, on numerous occasions he produced secondary bounces through getting his hands on the ball at the contest, there isn't a stat for this, but this neutralised Power's ability to spread the ball from the contest.

This was Rich's best game for our club, never have I seen him attack the contest so ferociously, it was unbelievable, this is his standard week in and week out! I loved how he was used more forward of the ball, looks like we have taken away his sweeper role in the backline, outstanding move!!!

Andrews, what a star.

Loved Big Luey's game, I have been critical of him due to his inability to hit the contest in the air. He obviously has been working his arse off and what a great game tonight. Stats won't be big but he looked like he wanted to be out there and actually bought into the role. We all know that our ruck combination has the potential to be the best in the AFL. Let's make it happen lads!!!

Well done Leppa!

Didn't see or hear anything but did Vossy get some appreciation at the ground?
When Port left the field after the warmup, he got a little cheer from the crowd. It was the same time as Brion entered the ground so I couldn't be sure the cheer was for Vossy.

FanFooty have the "might have trouble with the MRP" icon next to Rich's name. What's that about?
Think it was in the third quarter in the middle just after a centre bounce. Rich was pushed from behind by a port player, as he went forward from the push he crunched Wingard high with a bit of a raised arm. The push into the bump should save Rich as he didn't really have control of the incident
