So because I want him to play I think he has been outstanding. I’m possible to have a serious conversation if that’s your starting point Good players from other clubs get more of a chance than others. And he has been ordinary but not pathetic
I am clearly raking the piss with my first comment.
I understand that good players in general get more chances and good players from other teams in particular.
This does not make his selection correct or mean there is integrity in selection.
Did I expect him to be dropped no, but if the coach comes and out talks about carrying players then he needs to back it up at selection and not with the usual suspects.

Well we okay the bottoms winless team this week so let’s hope he hits his straps.

Been up and down mountains all week. Little fellah lovin' camp fires, marshmallows, fishing, jacket spuds, wild salads, coal barbecues, and almost being blown off the sides of cliffs. Hope we win and all, but this week I'm a bit "meh," towards it. Looking more forward to a shower than anything else.
Go Saints.

Where have u been?

Noob question.......can the players not selected in the 22 only come from those named on the extended bench?
ie. Everyone seems to be suggesting that because 'Player X' is named on field rather than the extended bench, that means they wont be dropped.

Is there an actual rule for this, or is it just that it rarely happens?

No it’s certainly not a rule.

Doubt it's an official rule but that is the way it normally goes.

I reckon some coaches do it strategically sometimes when a player from 18 is a late withdrawal due to ‘not being quite right’ and an emergency comes in, the plan was never for them to play. The 18 named would possibly change the way a certain team would set up based on the line up.

I don’t know for sure though.

In reality I doubt a move like that would have a massive bearing on the game very often.

The second half of Matt Finnis’ email
sounds like an apology from a current or ex partner who has screwed you over more times than you care to remember. I’m not ******* falling forward it again.

Probably.

What did you actually expect on a public response?

"This wasn't a disappointing loss, we straight shat the bed, sucked the fat one, chased arse and flatly aren't good enough to do jack shit. We understand this fully and as such will be putting in last minute out of form others on our list, fill ins who aren't up to it, as we're not forfeiting, since this is the strong decisions you ask for. Bring our your axes."

Great PR that would be, instills hope that you're making decisions from a place of strength.

Yes. But both sides and the AFL need to sign off on anyone coming into the side and there is a time limit involved in normal situations.

This is in place where you have injuries in the warm up and have to bring in people last minute where say emergnies are already selected.

I’m not really expecting anything but the way I am still feeling after last week my reaction reading it was more “oh **** off Saints” than, “yay good PR, let’s beat the Crows and win the flag”.

One thing on Hill.

I reckon our players need to learn to use him better. From what I’ve seen, he’s still running around like a mad man, but our guys don’t always give it.

If a player has taken a mark and Hill is running past and calling for it, I’d just love to see us give it to him, especially in transition.

I know Geary was probably nervous of how much time was left and just wanted to get it forward, but in that play last week, if he just looked to his left, he had Hill taking off with basically the whole wing in front of him.

If Geary finds him there, the end result could’ve been totally different.

How's Doedee captaining the Crows 27 games into his career.

jesus.

they don't mind throwing their players under the bus.

surprised they dont have them wearing dog collars hooked up so some wireless system, so they can electric shock them whenever they make a mistake

Lol my post was more of a well done to him, but yeah, unbelievable they are tasking him with that responsibility so early into his career.

I think so yeah

so the players and staff would hear more from the crowd than they normally would, given how empty it will be

some lucky saints fan has to take a boom box to the ground and blast the richmond theme song on repeat

Lets face it Ross wont be dropped. Hanners is out, Jones is a bit underdone, Dunstan injured and we have selected a debutant.
I have never been a real fan but he is a B&F winner so can obviously play. Has been poor this year but we need him to step up.

Geary has been good this year, wasn't great on the weekend but had plenty of mates.

I'm with Plugger66 on the changes, 2, at the very very most 3 if we include Long.

These players need to redeem themselves from the pitiful display they served up after qtr time last week.
They do the same this week, swing the axe hard.

You’ll be foaming like an ocean come Monday night.
