Suns came to play and they were obviously focussed on this game is their statement game.

Belle is such a real competitor, one of the top few most important members of the team. She got to so many dangerous situations and made such good decisions over and over. She would walk into any team in the comp. Hard to tag as well.

Mullins continuing to show development, becoming much more than a bit player. Evie Long needs more time but looks to have the goods. Taylor Smith showing that she is now a real key forward, so much that Dakota is somewhat second fiddle at present, which makes them both a threat. And Koenen is the Ryan Lester of AFLW, just does vital things without much fanfare but gets us out of trouble so often.

A bigger margin would have been nice but we did the job.

I've seen a fair bit of the Sun's this year on TV and that felt like easily their best performance of the year. I was impressed with their ability to win the ball and hit us on the counter-attack, and they took some strong marks in difficult circumstances. We were too strong for them in the end but not by much.

I think we miss Orla's input at the moment

They'll have to turn the lights on pretty soon
Should have had them on at the start of the game in my view.

Contrast that with the insistence on having the floodlights at the Gabba up and running for a 1:10 Sunday men's game played in dazzling sunlight. Essendon 2022 and Sydney this year exhibits A and B.

Maybe the bottom team played out or their skins today and we were just going through the motions.
Got the 4 premiership points that's all that matters in the end.
Thought we barely got out of 2nd gear. Disappointing performance I thought after Hawthorn got the big % booster earlier on. Could be the difference between a home/away final or missing out on the double chance.

Agreed. The speed at which the natural light faded must've taken them by surprise. It's not ideal for the players to have the lights suddenly turn on during play
Yes, and they turned on so suddenly as well. Not like back in the days at the MCG etc where you could see the lights were on but they'd be purple and pretty ineffective, and they'd take 5-10 minutes to actually warm up properly.

LED lights don't need to warm up.

The Giants Stadium has started using theirs as a mini light show during the pregame routines. It's really striking the first time you see it, because usually you only notice the lights when they go out (hi Melbourne!).

Rain aside I thought out skills were 10-20% off where they usually are and need to be. Maybe a reflection on the suns wanting to scrap.
Agree, also good when challenged in the last, we didn't let them score again and kicked a goal (and the obligatory points).
