Expect a loss but in the scheme of where we are really at that’s ok….as long as we see some glimpse of a future
Lyon and co have copped a kicking on here (I too would like to see more goals) but what is evident is that he knows our older players aren’t the future so he’s rapidly exposing any kid who shows something. That I applaud.
I’ve long wanted to move past Seb, Butler, Byrnes etc as they aren’t going to get us to that top echelon
I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Wilson (he looks a top 10 pick on effort/attitude already). Garcia likewise - he has traits…Hastie - hope he gets time tonight cause keen to see what he brings.
I’ll still be frustrated , that can’t be helped and as Port pile on goals or umpires pluck out forward 50 frees for them but let it go down the other end…I’ll still scream at the TV ….but I gotta say to myself….this is not our time …over and over like sone brain dead zombie pies fan.
Which older players is he overlooking for kids? Jones in and out maybe.

Injuries have forced us to play kids, in round 1 we only had Wilson, Phillipou and Collard (sub) in the side. Butler was rushed back and re-injured instead of getting Collard in.

Until we see mature guys playing long stretches in the VFL then we'll have to assume that we only have kids in the side because there are no other options.

If a few of Dow, Wood, Crouch & Webster become available I doubt it's Byrnes and Ross who get tipped out.

Id actually love to see Chito in a tagging role on one of them. He has the tackling and pace to keep up with them. Will teach him some midfield craft as well.
Mitch does not have the pace to keep up with Roz Butt JHF at all. The only hope is that he pushes them or beats them to contest so they don't get first hands but they'll rip him apart on the outside - and the rest of our midfield for that matter

Maybe Wison could do it ?

As a resolute atheist for about half a century I'm going for the non-supernatural meaning of "miracle" tonight. Not divine but extraordinary, exceptional, or amazing! Its sport so its theoretically possible. (Very, very heavy emphasis on "theoretical.")

We could, for instance, become the team version of Stephen Bradbury, or our alien space craft could crash on to their quarter time team huddle, or they could accidentally kick to the wrong end for the entire game to register the highest score in the history of the game!!

Sorry, meds have kicked in too soon!

No way Wilson is gonna tag. Doesn't know the craft and doesn't have the build either.

There's no point in tagging Power midfield because if u restrict one, the other two will just increase their output. The only way to combat them is to back your midfield to get the job done with the right strategy. Dont let them get to the outside and beat them to the ball

Would love to see us kick more than 12 goals tonight. Don't care about the result just want to see us put a few through the big sticks!
This is what I would love to see in the forward line.

Instead of players running into 50 and trying to pass it, take a bloody shot.

Instead of handballing it to someone who is immediately under pressure, take a bloody shot.

Stop putting pressure on yourself on set shots and realise that putting a ball through a 6.4m gap shouldn't be that hard.

So sick of watching other games and seeing players back themselves to kick goals. Show some dare. Stop trying to make it a certainty and have a go at the sticks. Get the fans excited again. It's better than seeing a spoiled mark or handball to team-mate that eventually gets shut down knowing that there was an opportunity to have a shot.

Got to agree there

I think we tried the Stephen Bradbury strategy against GWS, but to no avail.

Got a good feeling about tonight! I reckon we only lose by 4 goals. 8.6.54 to 2.18.30 sounds about right. Bonner to kick half our goals. Absolutely can't wait...for the half time melts and autopsy thread. Bring it on!

No expectations for tonight, just want to turn up and play our way. Take risks and move the ball, don't care if it comes back over our heads a dozen times - it does that when we go ultra--conservative and mess around with it until we turn it over anyway.

Most importantly I want to see no injuries. Our fixture will start to 'open up' soon with some home games coming up and key players starting to return from injury. Need to be ready to have a serious crack in the 2nd half of the season if it's not to be a complete waste.

Have to say, although it's going to cause some short term pain, I do love seeing these new kids out there getting games early. Gives us our best chance to develop them and invest in the future.
Spot on. We have way too many out and as a result lacking cohesion and playing at a feral stadium against flat track bullies.

I will probably be just as cranky as everyone else tonight but hopefully we can all have just a little bit of perspective if it unravels.

Saints are paying $4.15! Bet you’re super on it, retire tomorrow and live like a king! What’s the worst that could happen? You have to work for an extra 20 years?

Do we have a late our of something? We've actually slipped further in the markets today...
