Just got home from training this morning and these are a few things I noted.
  • Was just the main squad of 25 this morning so no reserves except for Ace that I could see.
  • A LOT of talk during a handballing drill, way more than usual.
  • Merrett was working exclusively with Clarke in a contact drill and Patfull and Yeo were doing the same
  • Moloney and Lester were working together on a tap and handball drill (so I see Lester spending a bit of time in the guts with Moloney)
  • They did a few kick out drills with Ash doing a lot of the kicks
  • Practicing a fair bit of goal shooting as well after Ash or Doc would kick it out to them
  • Brownie was practicing his goal shooting down the other end alone
  • Zorko, Redden and Hanley spoke to Voss for a good 10 minutes while the boys warmed down
  • Roughly an hour long training session so not much else to speak of
Any questions just ask and I'll do my best to reply!

The HUN is reporting that Black absent from training. Please say it isn't so.

I didn't see him out there, wouldn't read too much into it though. Was a very light training session so him not being there didn't really concern me.

Just meandering over our team...we look extremely short in most positions. Is there a forecast for rain ?

It has been a bit wet today and the forecast is the same for tomorrow. I don't expect a real wet game but it might be a bit greasy.

Cheers sean. I had been wondering if they might send Ash forward this week as a leading forward option, given we've only named the two tall forwards, one of whom will need to ruck occasionally.

I'm starting to see some tactics developing and I like it.
A big focus on lowering the eyes this week, especially going forward when Lisle is in the ruck.
McGrath and Bewick to be lead up forwards. Lester, who reads the game well, can float back as a spare when the Weagles get a run on...but must work forward when Lisle is in the ruck. I am actually feeling quite positive.

If black still has a niggle then he needs to sit this one out. No point bringing him in just to be re-injured and possibly out for an extended time.
Twitter says he only missed because he was feeling a bit 'ill'. don't think it's anything related to his injury.

If we have a competitive 1st quarter and player well I think we can take this out. If WC kill us in the 1st quarter like the game vs Bulldogs, North, and Sydney we will be gone. We should put in a better performance being back at the Gabba. Predicting us for a win:thumbsu:

Realistically this game and Carlton we have a slight chance to win.

Hoping we have a strong first quarter like early last year.

I think we have more than a slight chance of winning. I expect / hope we put up a fight like the Adelaide game and perhaps even pinch it. If we get blown away at home I will be dissapointed, even with our lack of experience.

For the first time in a while I am really pleased with the team selection. We have got in more experience and we have ditched our top heavy forward set up. That is what I wanted to see - I hope it pays off.

Black the sub :(

#AFLLionsEagles - No changes. Subs: Simon Black (BL) and Bradd Dalziell (WCE).
