Most people just say "next face of the league" to describe a talented and exciting young player (which would obviously be fitting for Ham).

But to those who are seriously referring to it as if it's an official title/position ("no no no, she should be the next face of the league")... please get a grip.

I wouldn't imagine she's thrilled about missing those very easy shots (especially compared to the difficulty of the marks which enabled the shots). And she too probably thinks kicking those would've given them a much better chance of winning the game.
Who on earth is seriously referring to it as an official position? It's an opinion.

Ham might have some talent but if you want a serious amount of attention then it needs to be translated into performance. She's not close to the top 3 players in her own team.

It's true that if you kick goals instead of points you have a better chance of winning a game lol. It's ludicrous that you would suggest that it potentially cost them the game.

"It's an opinion" (one which was also voiced in commentary and numerous match reports, so acting as if it's contentious ain't getting you anywhere)

It's quoted in numerous match reports that if Roberts kicked 2 goals instead of points that miraculously WC goes from 1 goal to 5 and wins the game?

But please show me the quotes saying Roberts cost WC the win.

You guys came in 2019 so you have 6 years worth of development
It's just completely irrelevant. Brisbane, Melbourne, Carlton, the Bulldogs and GWS all had a 2 year head start on us and we've flogged all of them this year, it's got nothing to do with when the clubs entered the league. Geelong entered with us and they're floundering outside the 8.

Roberts cost WC the win.
That's very harsh, mate.

Some people are saying she might've cost them the win, because top players need to be taking the pressure off teammates in low-scoring games, rather than building it up.

But it's a bit of a stretch to say she definitely cost them the win.

Which people are saying she might’ve cost them the win apart from you? Which match reports and player commentary?

Season attendance smashed the 200,000 mark this weekend.

Looks like the current tally is at 217k, which is about a 4% increase on the average at the same point last year (when tickets cost 33% less, and games weren't being played on ****ing Tuesday nights).

Geelong finishing top 2-3 was probably the only chance of getting a grand final crowd way bigger than 10k though, so the final figure probably won't go too far past 310k (it was 286k in 2023).

I’d just like to say thanks very much to North Melb for the humiliating drubbing of Essendon infront of their biggest home crowd since 1991.
I can’t imagine they’ll come out the most pissed off they’ve ever been against Richmond next week in a game Tiges have to win to make finals.
Awesome.👍

Ch7 commentary, Nathan Schmook for AFL.com.au and Ben Smith for The West Australian all made a point of highlighting Roberts' misses. Can you guess why?

Hint: It wasn't to say "wow, those weren't really costly!"

Do they follow your theory that if she kicked 2 goals instead of points a 4 goal loss would have become a victory?

Wow very harsh on Ella Roberts again, mate.

If you were to say WC might've gone on to win, had she kicked those 2 first quarter goals, that'd be a reasonable take.

But saying WC would have won is completely different (only an idiot would struggle to understand that).

Imo the majority of the team should have been players from our vflw premisership side and Brendon Major as coach we only have one from that side in Georgia Nanscawen and guess what she one of our best every week
Big step up from vflw to aflw.
Richmond came runners up in the vflw before entering the comp the Coach Tom Hunter was named coach of the year.
He was sacked after his first season, 6 games.

Namscawen is a pretty incredible athlete and story.
Youngest ever to the national Hockey team. An Olympian in one of the most successful Australian sporting teams and one of the strongest international teams. Retired and took up footy joined North.
Got cut from North at 27-28 joins ESS vflw. Ends up two time BnF winner, league BnF winner and inaugural co-captain did and ACL, came back and at 32 she’s one of the best ground ball players at stoppage in the league.
Pretty incredible.
