Just catching up on Treacys WAFL game at the weekend.
Just ******* get him in. Anywhere. He looked like a man at the weekend not a kid. We desperately need that power and strength and ability to clunk marks.
Back the kid in.

You got that he was a great trainer from that snippet, where he was going at 30% effortLiam is a great trainer, not so flash in the heat of battle!
Yes I think I am coming around to this. I think a lot of my rationale was that Andy and Serong were playing more in their early years and hence had the opportunity to show more. This wasn't because they were necessarily better early, just that we were in rebuild mode where playing them made development sense. Ras and Johnno have come in when most of the team is established so opportunities are more limited. It's their size and power (once developed). If they come through as we hope, I think they can be more impactful than Brayshaw and Serong.
If you were to list the most damaging midfielders of the last 10-20 years, most of them are big and powerful. Judd, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Martin, Bontempelli, Oliver, Petracca, Cripps, throw in smooth movers like Pendlebury, Bartel and Mundy. Even Brownlow winners like Cooney and Wines for their year at the top. There was GAJ and Voss who were shortish but immensely powerful.
Not saying Erasmus and Johnson will join that group above. They almost certainly won't. But they are the primary players we need to drive us to a flag, as you need the power and strength to compete at the top.
Yeah the main reason I haven't put a line through him (apart from the obvious being he is 21 and a KPF) is that when he plays well at Peel he looks dominant.Just catching up on Treacys WAFL game at the weekend.

I might be high off copium and having a short memory but if that Brisbane game becomes the bar for Johnson the rest of the season, he'd be ahead of Serong for best first 20 games IMO. Suspect I'd be up and about for both if they had played 20 games each already like the other two had early in their second seasons.
You could actually make a case Andy looked the least impressive early of the 4. Serong I think still looked the best so far inside 20 games.

He imposes himself like you would expect a seasoned AFL KPF to do at that level. Obviously doesn't do it all the time but the attributes for a good player are there.
Umm, yeah you can. It costs a future 2nd and future 4th and you get a Brodie and pick 60odd x 2 with it.I might be high off copium and having a short memory but if that Brisbane game becomes the bar for Johnson the rest of the season, he'd be ahead of Serong for best first 20 games IMO. why? 'he plays his role' youre not going to hear what you want to hearI just want someone on the coaching staff to answer the question "Why is Banfield playing?". Perhaps one of these elite WA journos could ask this imposing question?
How can doing nothing be a role?why? 'he plays his role' youre not going to hear what you want to hear
Has to be Barlow doesnt it?Bit off topic here but who’s had the best first 20 games ever for Freo?
Barlow? Rhys Palmer is up there but I would still have to go with Haselby.
Well the implication is that we are holding the ball in the forward line well. Banfield is the lesser at doing that in the whole forwardline from what most of us can see. Find it hard to believe Treacy wouldn't be better at that side of it than Banfield with the added bonus of everything else he brings. If Treacy does as little as Banfield after two years of opportunity, I will be happy for him to be delisted.Maybe it stops an opponent doing something or plugs holes in opposition ball movements

But Treacy could do that and more. Why not give the opportunity to the better option rather than the one that is simply adequate. Give them both the same amount of opportunity and may the best man win. He's been in the top half/top third of pressure acts for the squad for the last few weeks. So perhaps he is doing what he is called to do.
