As JP junior said our forward line is too small. We were outsize in just about every position. Didn't stop us kicking to Walters and Schulz in a stationary contest though. The result of that was as you would expect. It is even worse when one of our talks leads up to the wings. Surely Treacy or Corbett would help.
I agree. But if Treacy roams around up the ground we will still only have two talls in the forward line, most of the time. Which is the least you need if you don't want double teaming and constant intercepting. Which happened a lot against Brissie. Plus Walters and Schultz were both outsized.JL won't even play 3 tallish forwards on the ground, so good luck getting him to add another one to the team. He always has one of Sturt/Amiss/ruck on the bench. It is beyond insane to me. Then he will sub one out late. If Treacy or Corbett are to come in, I bet it will be Sturt that gets dropped.
To make matters worse, our smalls do not have any leap. Some guys like Cameron, McCarthy, etc can punch above their height due to prodigious leaps. Banfield is basically the opposite, he has decent height but plays shorter than his height when it comes to marking.
I personally would bring Corbett/Treacy and Emmett in for Banfield and Schultz. But that's never going to happen.
yeah, i think we don't realise how much we have lost from Lobb and Tabs (and Fyfe) marking down the wing to help us get out of trouble time and time again and giving a realistic option going forward when the break isn't on. Having only Amiss, Jackson and Darcy able to provide that forward of centre really limits our options in making our forward entries even more difficult, and Jackson is dropping a lot too. Treacy would provide that option without robbing peter to pay paul in the forward line.I agree. Crows proved how well that worked yesterday in the last quarter (Not!). They put their spare in defense trying to save the game and the Pies had theirs at the stoppages and they absolutely crushed them in clearances in the last quarter.Hughes plays as a 7th man in defense because JLO likes to play a spare man. Might as well have Ross coaching tbh
I'm not buying this cox would be good as a forward.I’d like to try Cox forward and bring in Draper to replace him
Who do you mean. Ha ha. If only there was a forward in our forward line that was small enough to tackle but doesn't, rarely kicks a goal, is not tall enough to pack mark, and gets more disposals as a 4th quarter sub than a full gamer, that we could swap out for Treacy?
that's not the heat map of someone instructed to play wing. That's a HBF.Hughes had 4 turnovers.
He also had one touch forward of halfway, and even that was only just.
A winger who did not touch the ball within 40m of the attacking forward 50?
That just won’t do.

Wagner looks like a waste of a list spot for two years to me. Emmet is interesting, he's almost that Zurhaar type but he needs to be cleaner and his disposal goes from good to below WAFL level too often. He's certainly working his arse off both ways for Peel and getting a lot of shots on goal thoughEmmett needs to improve his field kicking and decision -making up the ground. We brought Wagner in too early. Might wanna wait with Emmett
Both Drizzy and Treacy have shown more upside when they have played in the past then Hughes and Banfield. One is young and coming off injury and the other has had a year of development hampered by injury. We've certainly got our favourites on here. Everyone lays into Banfield and Hughes but, so far, they have delivered more than Drizzy and Treacy. Still, I think this season is a right off and we get games into the youth.
jack of all trades and master of none is not a great position. In cricket you'd call him a no-rounder.
It does to me, Banfield has had plenty of games, Sturt has not.Not a lot. But I was talking about Sturt. Banfield's performance doesn't make Sturts better or worse.
You seem to have a dislike for Treacy, he was quite good on Saturday hopefully he can take some confidence out of that going forward.
Also may have a kick-on effect down through the other forwards by taking a better tall defender.I just watched Treacy's highlights and bar missing that second set shot which I'd back me to kick (they just showed the mark not the kick) he was doing a lot of stuff we struggle with at AFL level. Granted, he'll have to do it on an AFL defender but at least he has some scope to improve us there.
I'm bringing him in off that.
I think Treacy will get the 3rd because the other two are more dangerous. Either way, just taking some attention off the other two might help. Also may have a kick-on effect down through the other forwards by taking a better tall defender.
But Maybe Sturt or shoota get something more manageableI think Treacy will get the 3rd because the other two are more dangerous. Either way, just taking some attention off the other two might help.
He's still so young.just based on my experience watching him he seems like a good WAFL player and not an AFL player.
