Banfield still in instead of Sturt? Just tender your resignation JL, you're not a serious person.

Still think Sturt's overrated by Freo fans and he hasn't been great bar a 5 min patch against the Dogs but I just want some selection consistency. Bloke's been given a 3 game stretch which featured two 8+ goal maulings and yet has arguably shown more than the incumbent medium forward in that time.

We're not privy to the data that matter to the coaches but on exposed form, I don't think Banners' slightly better pressure metrics justify it (as much of a cult hero as he is). Unless Schultz and Switta turn up or they tell Treacy to channel his inner Waterboy, they'll probably still walk it out of our f50.

Don't mind the changes. Banners and Hughes must provide some critical structural need that Sturt doesn't with team balance as a whole. I think he has a few things to work on.

Brodie out is interesting though. Perhaps he's carrying something. He does still need to work on his tank too.

Should be a good game. Better farking win! See you all there for shandys at the Camfield!

I'm surprised so many were surprised at Brodie being dropped. He played one of the least accountable games of midfield footy of all time. We may as well have played David Mundy.

He is capable of better but he was a total liability against the Lions.

The backline no longer works because Cox, Pearce and Ryan are slow and teams no longer just bomb it in high so we can take intercept marks. The new game plan for most teams is move the ball quick and forwards are quick leading targets. Also Cox, Pearce and Ryan offer us nothing in terms of kick in strategy. I know the only time we will make a change is if one is injured but would be nice if we did trial Cox or Pearce forward and make the backline more mobile.
They are going to have to learn how to play against the new ball movement because we have no-one else to take their places for quite a while,

I'm ecstatic at the ins but you can only laugh with those outs at this stage. They might one day solve the meaning the life, but scientists will never be able to determine how Banfield played 100 games of AFL footy
Answer is obvious, we want that father/son pick as he has incredible genes. Will be delisted once he hits 100.

You can give someone a rocket without hamstringing the team vs a team who's main strength is contested ball in the middle. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Fyfe/brodie the break glass in case of emergency inside mid? Ras straight swap for Brodie, they must want him diving in and extracting (would cover his kicking) with Fred taking Johnsons wing time.

It’s not just Banfield though.

Why was Brodie dropped? He was dropped early in the year and our mids severely missed a bigger body, and his impact showed when back again vs GC. Was he that bad vs Brisbane?
Do the geniuses in charge realise we are short people in the middle without a bigger body?

Why doesn’t Hughes get held to the same standard? He hasn’t played a good game yet this year. And we all know why, it’s because he’s just an honest trier who isn’t good enough and isn’t even playing a position he’s best suited for.

Why does Banfield get held to a different standard to Sam Sturt? Oh that’s right because he’s the coaches favourite and the coach clearly is happy to play favourites. Sturt had a small impact in his first game back, more of an impact in his 2nd, then JL couldn’t sub him quick enough after a poor half vs Brisbane. Has Banfield done anything in 6-7 games?

**** it I don’t care

Hawks on top in the clearances is far worse and that's what will happen against Brodie, they'll target his opponent for the first handball and that guy will run it out of the stoppage.

As soon as the Dogs got on top of the clearances, it pulled the handbrake on the Hawks. That should be the focus.

Was he that bad vs Brisbane?
Yes. His direct opponent had most of their team's clearances and nearly three times our team high.

Watch the stoppages, he followed Neale to the contest then let him run off in traffic and away from him

Ahhh Taylor. Always spoiling passionate irrationality with your facts.

This club..
Again, the safe, usual changes.
Brodie is the scapegoat. No idea how JOM continues to stay in. Leadership qualities huh.
But Banfield. Eh same old story.
Flat and boring changes.
Predicting Treacy to be omitted next week. The vicious cycle
JOM has been significantly better than Brodie and can play a different position, I'm as surprised as Taylor at how everyone is so shocked on Brodie going out

Think it's because how good he was at the start of his tenure at Freo. Like the mid that we desperately needed. Although w could see hints of him trailing off at end of last season already. Having said that Brayshaw being down and Mundy not there hasn't helped

Sturt hasn't been great, but 3 games is hardly enough to make a case either way. Especially playing in the abomination that is our forward line and gameplan. I reckon superior players like Fritsch would struggle to get a kick in our side. A guy like Johnson at the Pies would have no chance of keeping his spot in a side selected by JL.

JOM has not been significantly better. He’s only been better stat wise because he doesn’t influence games and goes forward. Stat padding during losses.
Don’t care about midfield. It’s still overrated and still reluctance to change it.
Aish, Banfield, JOM, Ryan, Brodie, Hughes have been terrible this year. Where’s the message there?

What is Banfield’s position? It’s not a goalkicker as he hasn’t kicked one for weeks. It’s not a defensive role, when he hasn’t laid a tackle in weeks either. Can not justify him continuing to get games and leave Corbett, Sturt and Emmett.

It’s broke, fix it.

Give Corbett a few full games.
