Still reeling from Rankine news. He was ready to play in NEAFL a week ago but they did not want him to travel to Darwin. So they took him to Perth! Dew says it is very minor, normally would be 1-2 weeks. We should see him after bye.

Seen the kid live in the SANFL and can seriously play, IMO just ahead of Rozee for the best junior. Will light up the "sun" when he ready to go.

I don’t recall hearing any discussion of a Fiorini injury.

Hopefully just a managed thing with Fiorini? :/ He wasn't on the injury report so maybe just struggled to get up, unless he hurt it at training. Hopefully we get confirmation soon.

Regardless, that's taken the optimism out. Big big loss.

I wonder if this is an Optus Stadium result. That place is reportedly like playing on concrete - the Eagles don't even train there any more.. Probably leaves a lot of soreness in the joints. Could exacerbate some niggles.

A bit surprised at Joyce. I thought he was better last week but in general he's been down.

I am a bit worried we're a bit thin on the inside. No trouble on the outside, but if we can't get it there the outside may as well be non-existent. Again, maybe this is where Holman comes into play.

Just need our inside guys to break even and hopefully we can burn them.

The studs up rule was brought in to protect players after Toby Greene's efforts.
It's working well. End result, no free kick, and we lose one of our best mids for a match and of course nothing said in the media...

Holman named in the middle with Lemmens taking his spot up forward is interesting. Dew must have faith in him over someone like Brodie to fill-in Fiorinis boots?
Agree that it makes us look very thin in the middle taking our best mid out of a not exactly strong midfield.
I look forward to seeing the likes of Ainsworth, Holman and DMac stepping up. This is the type of game their style of play should thrive in.

I'll be interested to see how we utilise Luko now with Corbett and 2MP in the forward line.

Our game style of kicking it long into the forward 50 does not suit him at all. Given we now have Corbett and 2MP there now though, ideally Luko is freed up to move higher up the ground and potentially get on the end of some short kicks to help bring him into the game. Again, short kicks aren't necessarily our game style but when we do use it, hopefully Luko can be there to mark it. Poor kid does a stack of unrewarded leading.
