Zero chance Hughes plays ahead of Ras. Totally different positions. Hughes is cover for a couple of proppy back men. Ryan is a test really. Pearce is ok but you never know like the game he pulled out late.

Ras will travel and I agree with others that Tucker will play. He wasn’t too bad and seemed to hit up targets. He just didn’t get enough of the pill. He seems to get caught a lot these days. Henry I’d prefer back at Peel. He didn’t do a lot wrong but didn’t a lot full stop. As there is no Peel game he can travel as well.
This! But why!?

Someone explain to me the point of playing a mediocre got/cold slow ass Tucker over a top 10, young talented future clubman!? I know they're not the same position but I'd rather Ras in the wing and Tucker can **** right off. He's dead weight!

I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PULLS HERE!!!

Good hate predictive text 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Edit, I'd rather Ras cover in any of Tucker's positions

Tucker has been run of the mill for sure. He does generally take care of the ball. It is an indictment (on Tucker) that Ras almost got more of the pill in his 10mins on the field but Ras turned it over a bit as well.

There is no question the likes of Ras will displace Tucker but Ras has a couple of things to sort through.

Assuming Ryan and Pearce get up I reckon this is the most likely outcome.

B: Hayden Young, Alex Pearce, Heath Chapman
HB: Brennan Cox, Luke Ryan, James Aish
C: Blake Acres, Andrew Brayshaw, Jordan Clark
HF: Travis Colyer, Bailey Banfield, Darcy Tucker
F: Michael Frederick, Rory Lobb, Lachie Schultz
R/Fol: Sean Darcy, Will Brodie, Caleb Serong
Interchange: David Mundy, Brandon Walker, Jye Amiss, Griffin Logue
Emergencies: Josh Treacy, Liam Henry, Ethan Hughes, Neil Erasmus (Medi Sub)

I think Amiss is out before Tracey. Tracy keeps the pressure up.

The key to Tucker is to remember he was one of the blokes specifically thanked by Fyfe when he won a Brownlow. A lot of what he does that impresses the coaches is clear the way for teammates to be able to get possessions, and he doesn’t get any stat for that.

As fans we tend to focus on the individual, and even what we see is pretty heavily influenced by our preconceptions of what a player is / isn't.

As coaches I'd imagine they pick the team that they think can best execute the plan, which includes many things never noticed or even known by a general fan.
So while Ras might be exciting, and likely a higher ceiling than Tucker, what Tucker offers to the team now, including knowledge of multiple roles, a bigger body (especially in the wet) and the discipline to play the role as desired means he may be in first.

Tucker cops a lot, and I don't think he's been amazing, but he has some tools and if he can get back to where his trajectory was previously then I think he has a part to play.

I agree he's been good but that's in the past. He does some ok things but just waaaaaaaaaaay to slow with and without the ball. Think the big stage, he would get murdered by a be Fast moving Melbourne while Ras is quick and will only get quicker. We're In the window now. No time for turtles

So you are saying he is Rowan Jones?

Fox commentary team for our game
Dwayne Russell, David king and Alistair Lynch.

West coast match get Kelii underwood.

Who wins out of that selection
This is a classic case of there are no Winners.

King knows what we think of him so expecting him to come out firing if there are any flaws in our game.

Yeh you're probably right - this might be more heart than head.

Tucker seems to get a lot of personal aggro his way for someone so inoffensive.
For me the fast ball movement and dare to take on the game are the most exciting changes in our play style as compared to previous years. I think it's also been our most effective offensive weapon and has allowed us to score over 100pts on multiple occasions this season.

So there is nothing more frustrating than the ball ending up in Tucker's hands, watching him reject every option up the field and inevitably move the ball sideways while the opposition defence floods back and fills all the gaps our speed opened up.

It's literally just that part of his game that kills me, but it's like watching someone kick a puppy every time.

I feel like Tucker's reputation gets hurt because viewers only notice the time he holds up play.

There are also plenty of times when he's a link in the chain of play, or even delivers inside 50, and you wouldn't be able to tell me who just kicked it unless you rewound the tape. He's very easy to look over when things are going well.

I think from the extended bench it will be Josh Treacy, David Mundy and Griffin Logue - then it's between Erasmus and Walker - the other is the sub. Maybe on team balance it's better to have an extra midfielder so that might mean Erasmus comes into the 22. Does depend if Ryan passes his fitness test, then it will be Logue straight in, maybe Liam Henry as sub, with Erasmus and Walker in the 22.

I am feeling somewhat concerned about our forward line in this match. Graham has done a good job to turn the same players from previous years into a functional forward line, but since the Carlton match we have lost Tabs and had such disruption with Lobb, Colyer and Freddie out and now those guys back and Switta and Sonny out, it just seems like any synergy will be gone. Hopefully we can be strong enough elsewhere to overcome a misfit forward line.

It’s also because we’re playing so well that hardly anybody actually does this anymore and when it occurs it stands out like young talent at WC.

100% this. If there is a really good aggressive option, he'll take it – and his skill execution is superb. It's just when he doesn't have a good option he doesn't get creative. I think that's fine. It would be nice if he found more of the ball, but it's not for lack of effort. If one of our new recruits goes past him, so be it, but I have no problem with Tucker in the team.
