An hour on and I feel seriously depressed now. How do we go from the fun of 2015-17…when we were building and actually fun to watch..to that hot mess. Like wtf…I feel like total crap now. Club clearly doesnt care less, is still filled with the definition of mediocre talent (both on and off field)..and the worst part is there is little f@cking chance anything is going to change…we recruit like crap (Rachele aside), cant develop and lose anyone that shows any promise…I love this club, but I am almost done

I was at the game, unfortunately, and aside from the absolute dogsh!t umpiring in the 1st half, we had many many issues ourselves.

Himmelberg managed to get a few possessions, whilst also managing to literally do nothing with them. Can’t kick for goal on the rare occasion he manages to clunk them in an uncontested grab. Just categorically useless. Absolutely shocked we haven’t gone for a Murray experiment up forward, with Frampton/McAsey/Worrell down back. Just do SOMETHING.

Fogarty has absolutely no weapons as a modern day forward, at all.

We keep talking about our ‘hunt for the ball’, but intensity at the contest is practically non-existent, aside from Crouch and Keays today. The rest of our team are just plodding along.

It’s all well and good to say that the team is still developing, etc etc, but we need to be real here and admit that a lot of our players have REGRESSED. It’s just astonishing to see us having gone backwards in terms of our skills…what is happening? Skill errors from experiencing players are even more baffling.

Doedee and Murray are still trying to take grabs in the backline where they should be spoiling, and allowing balls to fall out the back for easy goals.

We’re SO static at the ball drop, Pies were way better in anticipating where the ball was coming down and we just had players staring at the ball.

I fell asleep on the couch.

Gonna be a long year.

Safe travels mate
Falling asleep was a blessing, mate, trust me :sneaky: .

Thanks; trip is 1550Kms over 2 days to Outback NSW. I'm always super-careful.
I could write a book about the near-misses and reckless driving I've seen over 40 years  .

I’m a Crow at heart and always will be but live in Brisbane and have done my level best to indoctrinate the Crows into my kids. My ten year old is footy mad and knows shit footy when he sees it now and it’s getting very hard to hold onto him with each passing year. I’d there any light at the end of the tunnel with this mob 🫣.

Feel your pain

The future core is Pedlar, RT, Cook, Butts, Doedee, Harry, Ned, Rachele, Berry and Gollant

All must play

Harry hasn't started season well however he will be ok

Ned is another who gets criticised however he provides pressure acts

Ned’s pressure acts? He fumbles under pressure, he drops marks under the slightest pressure, he sprays kicks out of bounds under pressure. He gives it everything which is great, but his skills are trash, his reading of the play is trash, he’s too small and not particularly quick, and he gives away far too many free kicks.

I”m not sure that there was anyone playing in the subsequent Lions v Essendon game that either of their coaches would say ….. we’ll happily trade you XXXX for Ned.

My growing belief is that Ned, Jones, Berg, Murray and ROB have too many serious flaws in their game, despite a few strengths, to be credible AFL players. Their repeated mistakes make it harder for the new talent to play with confidence. None of these 5 would get a game for a Top 4 team. Maybe they could be 18-22 players in a mid table team, but for us they are list cloggers. Not yet sure about Fog.

On the positive side today Cook, Rachele, Hinge, Pedlar, Butts, Gollant and Scholl give me hope.

Tough game to be at today, not the least of which was the scorching sun and ridiculous “evacuation” that saw nobody actually able to evacuate from the lower levels. If it were a real emergency we were all dead.

We are desperately missing leadership on the ground. Delivery to forwards continues to be haphazard (at best). Also skills appear to have gone backwards. Not sure where to from here.

I live on the Bellarine in Victoria and I'd be comfortable for my unborn son (he is still cooking) to pick Geelong for his team.

I would never support them but at least he could see them play regularly nearby. If he wants to join me in supporting the Crows that is fine but I wont be pushing too hard.

Just no Carlton or Port.

I gave up at 3/4 time and mowed the lawn. Our skills are the worst in the league, it is so frustrating to watch them give the ball away. They are like the hopeless primary school kid who's report card reads "Tried hard". Doesn't matter what the game plan is if we cannot kick to a target 30 metres away or handball at people's feet. Another long year ahead I fear.

At least the scum are being flogged by the Hawks, that always cheers me up.

Just out of interest, who of the draft crop is ranked at No 1?

And don't say that Aschcroft kid
West Adelaide's athletic KPF Harry Lemmey would be right up there before the season gets into full swing everywhere.
