All Grif did was bring this all to a head. As I said in a previous post he did what Gordon, Garlick and Grant couldn't.

Instead of having x players seeking trades out they leaned on their Captain and Brother to bring things to a head.
Then why didn't he sit there, look Gordon, Garlick and Grant right in the eye, and say, "No - as captain I don't believe these issues are workable and think change is best for the future?" Why didn't he tell the club that he wasn't happy? Why did he lie, tell the club that everything was hunky dory, then run away to Bali to have secret phone calls with another team, then have his management release a public statement hours after the club found out?

Very few are disagreeing with him voicing his concerns. We're disagreeing with a club captain lying to the club, pretending everything was fine, then organising a back door deal with GWS to stick it up us. That's absolutely gutless and I don't welcome spineless assholes at the club.

Dannnnnnnn, please use Australian spelling, this game is Americanised enough as it is.

E.g. Ryan Griffen is a spineless ARSE-hole....

Thanks!!! :)

It is a good post Dan but Griff is not a natural leader and he took the soft way out and stuffed up in the process. People make mistakes and I won't condemn him for one major stuff up. I would still like to hear Griff's version of events and not just rely on Gordon and Co which IMO have let the club down.

Us younger generation folks just tend to go for the one that has less letters...

But I'll keep it in mind. ;)

Fair enough. I don't pretend to know which side is "correct" (or if there even is one) but I, personally, just can't see myself supporting him again. I agree we need to hear the other side but at the minute this is an extremely frustrating and disloyal act by Griffen, whether Gordon and co had more info than they're letting on or not. Griff should never have been captain but, as he seemingly has in this scenario too, didn't ever say, "No."

From the time he met the club to yesterday things had changed from many perspectives, from his side and the clubs.

I stand by what I said he did what the three G's couldn't.

That's twice today that you've made a SMARTASSED comment about America. :p

I'm not sure what types under the table shenanigans with GWS occured.
Just say he isn't traded and kept.
How would supporters feel is Griffen publicly (and possibly discloses) apologises for how he went about things.
Gives up the captaincy.
Puts his head down, mouth shut (except on the field), and gives his best season ever?

I couldn't watch him wearing the jumper.
Happy to wish him well wearing any other jumper, but he's stuffed this up massively.

Now that I have calmed down. I would be happy with that.

I pose the question that if there was no chance of getting players and picks from GWS would we all be so quick to turn on him?

I just can't see griff as a bad guy.

Griffs not a bad guy.

What he did yesterday was show leadership many may find that hard to believe but he did is what the 3 G's could not.

He would have liked nothing more than to be a one club player but he knew with what he did yesterday that would not be the case.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-10/griffen-unmoved-by-macca-resignation?utm_medium=RSS

RYAN Griffen remains set on a move to Greater Western Sydney despite Brendan McCartney's resignation as Western Bulldogs coach on Friday.
AFL.com.au understands that Griffen's deteriorating relationship with McCartney was a significant factor in his decision to seek a move, but that his concerns about remaining at the Bulldogs ran deeper than that.

Still think so?

He's cooked himself now. He knows he isn't welcome with the players or supporters.

I'm now on the trade him wagon. I wasn't before because he's a gun, but it needs to be done. Fans will boo him.
