Did Griff do this the right way? No
Is Griff a leader? No
Has he set a good example for the younger players? No
Did he put his body on the line for near on 10 seasons, playing through injury and performing in finals?Yes
Can he remain at the club now?No

I do get the bitterness towards Griff and do believe he can no longer remain at the club.

The issue with this thread is we forget for the players it is their livelihood and sometimes for many reasons they wish to move on.

That he did not do it how many of us would have liked him to does not make him a bad person. Maybe he just does not have the emotional capacity.

he provided many years of enjoyment for us as supporters, now if he leaves for 2 picks in the top 10 his leaving provides us part of the future. Kelvin Templeton is on record as stating he left so we could get a good payout knowing he did not have many years left.

Griff is in the twilight of his career with a dodgy back. I do not wish him ill will, I do hope his new team never wins a game and we thrash them forever more, but no I will not booo him and will remember what he did contribute when he was with us

It seems like the only reason we backed Gordon was because Griff said he was willing to work. For him to backflip and make everyone look like an idiot whilst they scramble to pull everything back together is an absolute disgrace. I wont be happy until we are recompensed for him and can truly begin to rebuild. Here is a man who's selfishness has cost another mans job. Whatever people might say about Macca, he would never have lied and acted so deceitfully to someone else. His reputation will forever be smeared in my mind.

94% Want Griff to go - pretty conclusive result

Also need a similar poll on Peter Gordon and Simon Garlick

Grif did what he had to so as all this could end sooner than later.

We were heading to a stage where more players asking for trades and wanting out.

The men that gave the coach the extension the 3 G'S could not get rid of him and what Grif did was able to bring it to a head and did the job for them.

Grif is not going to GWS for $, for family reasons, because of opportunities. He did not want to leave the Dogs he did not want to pack up and leave Melbourne he did it for his teammates

Gives his teammates are fresh start with a new coach and he will see out his career not the way he had wished.

Bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit.
What he did was for himself and nobody else.
Disgrace that anyone can try to defend this treachery.

Yes I still think so.

Read my posts he knew even if Macca was gone he would still go to GWS, once he wanted a trade to GWS he had made the decision he was gone.

He did not do this for Grif he did this for the club and his teammates, he brought this to a swift end and cleaned up the mess left by the so called review and did the job that the 3 G's couldn't.

We may think otherwise but his teammates don't and that what matters to him.

Money and less responsibility. Where is your evidence?
He is not Batman and this isn't The Dark Knight.

He was taking a pay cut and it was not money, he did not want to leave Dogs ever!

If Grif wanted money he would be long gone. He signed contracts at the Dogs with minimum fuss never heard anything regarding negotiations at a stand still. Bigger clubs came with their $ but he stayed for less.

He is not Batman no he is the Griffennator!

He is nothing but a GWS player now.

Geez you paint a rosy ****en sob story. This isn't a selfless act of generosity to his teammates and the members of his club, this is a premeditated "****-you" to all Bulldogs. He didn't even have the guts to front the media himself.
You don't need to hide if your intentions are honourable.

How do you know the above?

He was and is still popular with his teammates.
