Totally agree but before we hang him let's hear his story mate

Management 101 here both sides of the story before you pass judgement.

Didn't many BF posters state that the problem was with Macca and the senior players and all the younger players loved him, guess what we now hear Dahl, Roughie and Stringer did not provide an endorsement of Macca's coaching. I'm sure more of the truth will be revealed in coming days.

I would like to hear his side of the story, I full understand that it was a difficult position to be in, but I doubt there's anything he could say to justify his actions

Good point that's often getting overlooked in this storm.

I heard Stringer loved Macca?

Would west coast rather Kennedy and Masten, 2 of their best players or a banged up Judd about to finish? Griffen leaving with good recruiting might be the moment that won a premiership, its the tough decision that no one would have have been crazy enough to make. Only time will tell if this ends up as a good or bad thing.

It's pretty crazy that someone can go from the most loved player at the club to the most hated in a week.

Nathan Brown was before my time, is this the same as his situation or is one in particular worse?

This is worse way worse. This is the worst player loss we have ever had. Even moreso than Dougie who was 30 + at the time.

It's much worse, Griffen is the club captain and is clearly our best player. Then to top it all off, he lied to the coach and Chris Grant. Plus he's contracted.

Worse because it just seemed like Brown was leaving towards the end of the season so we got used to it. Plus Brown was always a suspect character so it was never a huge shock he'd leave for money. I just would never have thought Griff would do something like this

By the way I accidentally clicked no to the poll. I read the opening post, should Ryan stay and clicked no without reading the question in the poll. Is there any way I can change this to Yes?

Ryan can't stay after what happened.

I have no problem in Grif coming back and would love him playing for us. Mind you I don't think he will he has made up his mind.

Grif did what Gordon, Grant and Garlick could not he showed leadership.

What he did yesterday was basically telling us all there is a bigger problem than what came out in the review and was telling Gordon and Co the problem is bigger than we all think and you need to fix it ASAP.

Yes he said yes to couple of questions he was asked but things changed for him and things changed at the club as well.

Prior to him going away Jones, Tutt, and Higgins had not decided what they were doing. The Dogs had not offered $500,000 year deal
for 3 years to a 31yo.

I realise this maybe against the grain but Grif has shown in the past his traits he is no fraud.
What a load of ridiculous rubbish.
Gordon, Grant and Garlick showed absolute leadership by dealing with the issue professionally with Ryan and BMac in order to get a positive outcome .... a process which Ryan agreed he was happy with.

Now, lets look at the leadership shown by Ryan .... the Captain.
  • After the club administration had put in place the process to overcome his issues, he was dishonest to Chris Grant (a legend of our club) by saying he was happy. Ultimately he wasn't because he obviously continued to deal with GWS.
  • Captains dont walk away because it is too hard ....... they actually get stuck in and overcome to hurdles for themselves and their teammates.
  • A few years ago when the club looked after his welfare during his fathers illness, Ryan stated that he would never forget had good the club had been to him and he would never turn his back on the club ........ a short memory!
  • Captains should never undertake deals with other clubs. The reason they are Captains is because they are regarded as loyal, strong and a great example to others.
  • When his fellow players were struggling with the past week, where was he to support them? He was away shooting pigs!
  • And the greatest sign of his weakness was that his manager called the club to announce his departure. Ryan was too weak to actually pick the phone up himself, or better still, show the strength of a real leader and go and tell the club face to face.
  • Worst of all, Captains dont walk out of clubs. He will have to live with this stigma for the rest of his life!

You know this as fact I suppose
Not worth going through this all so many errors.

He's not clearly the best player at the club his delivery into the forward line is putrid, and im sure ive posted something similiar long before he left. Griffen has tunnel vision with the ball in hand he literally never lowers his eyes.
