Ryan Nyhuis tackle on Robbie Gray

Not really ... Michael Christian and others have just said similar on 360 and Press .
The reason i brought up the leg incident is that there are muppets saying Gray is a lair and was trying to hold onto Nyhuis instead of protecting himself .
I broke it down into facts and those facts show that he had no chance to do that because of what that initial leg sweep created
The tackle had 3 distinct parts that caused the result .

As for your argument if it was the other way around , that is lame garbage.
I am Crows fan but Port certainly do not escape media and tribunal wrath so park that ..
There have been sling tackles that have gotten 3 weeks and this is just as bad as the worst of those .
Your logic should be put in a sling , it needs something to hold it up .
BTW , the experts seem to agree with my assessment
Lame garabage ?
Your welcome to disagree, I think it’s laughable you think he has performed some sort of Russian leg sweep.
It’s an aggressive tackle, with little or no second motion, this leg motion u speak of I would say would be trying to stop gray get an effective kick away.

1 week...its at least a footy action...

Walker one week is a joke ....yet this kid will get 4...Jeremy Cameron 5 for nearly killing Andrews.

Joke is

Someone compiled this on Reddit, all tackles that have earnt a suspension in the last two seasons (2017-2018).

I don't think this one is worse than any of the tackles in their album.

Feel it is on par with Grundy's.

Holy christ, how the heck does this get blown up the way it has. This set of gifs lays it all out. It's a tackle that we don't want, but they're bandying this about like this is the tackle to end all tackles, dog act, etc.

Ryan Nyhuis is getting absolutely smashed for being a nobody tackling a superstar.

Gray held onto Nyhuis with both arms. If Gray wasn't playing for a free kick he'd of had both of his arms out breaking his fall. It should have just been play on. Not even worth citing IMO. You want to know why it looked like Gray was dumped into the turf in the fashion he was? It was because Gray held Nyhuis arms to him and gave Nyhuis no choice - as he was going down with Gray anyway.

Leave the kid alone. It was a tackle. No malice.

It should have just been play on. Instead we are seeing a kid being hung out to dry. The whole process has been severely compromised now anyway, so no doubt he will protest the outcome based on that alone. But why he is even cited is beyond me. Gray held his arms and practically dragged him down. Instead of holding onto Nyhuis - Gray should have used his arms to break his own fall. It is absolutely ridiculous.

Who has gotten 3 weeks before? I thought 2 weeks was the max for a tackle?

should get 2 based on being a dangerous tackle and prior penalties for similar incidents. The end.

it shouldn't matter who is being tackled (the safety of all players should be considered equally) or what the media think (which is irrelevant and for their own benefit).

Doesn't matter - NicNat copped a suspension vs Port for basically the same kind of tackle that resulted in a concussion test.

The KO will ensure your boy goes for at least 1.
And I really dont think any of us are disputing that. What Mr. Mightymouse was meaning was to stop with the dog act etc etc....

Show me any of our supporters who disagree with that

Most are contesting it wasn't done with malice, he isn't that sort of player

Grundy was 3 weeks, but could accept 2 with an early guilty plea.

But we don't get reductions for early pleas any more so...
Exactly, the max it's ever been has been 2 weeks for the worst double arm pinning, slam tackle. Granted that the outcome of this one looked worse as he was knocked out cold but he had one arm free and is likely to play this week.

2 weeks is all it should be max, especially since it is performing a legal act with no malice. 3-4 weeks from some parts of the media is a joke and really isn't going to change anything as there was probably 10 other tackles like this on the weekend that didn't result in a player getting hurt.

I'm guessing for it to be reduced from 'Severe' to 'High' impact a lot will depend on the PAFC medical report. What are the guidelines/protocols for this? I'm guessing everyone wants to avoid a situation where the medical report says that Robbie Gray nearly died and needed to have a complete head reconstruction, only to have him cleared to play this week?
Not sure there are many “if any” doctors working at a club or in general practice prepared to say “he nearly died or needs a head reconstruction” and then allow the player to play the following week. Massive over-reach. I have no doubt the club doctor will say he was knocked out and prior to playing again (and in line with AFL rules) will need to go through all necessary tests. I personally believe the likely-hood of him playing this weekend would be zero.

Gleeson says it warrants a three-match sanction as it was a dangerous tackle, Gray's head was driven into the ground and because Gray's bracing arm was pinned.
So its really only arguing about more than 3 weeks now isnt it?....

So frustrating

Pinning the arm is a part of the art of tackling - otherwise they can dispose of it. Bringing the player to ground is all part of the tackle as well. The momentum shift of Gray kicking is what topped the tackle to what it was. And that is not Ryan's fault at all

They need ex-players in there who are smart and have played the game. Get Bob Murphy in there

"Nyhuis is pleading guilty to the charge and accepting the classification of the match review officer." from the live feed. Don't think a penalty has been stated.... He's just straight up plead guilty

Bit disappointed given the footage seen that there's no defence from him

I disagree. I think we're taking a responsible position, accepting it's not a good look for footy and moving on. When it happened in real time - how did you respond? I certainly thought it was unecessary and if the roles were reversed and it was a Freo player on the receiving end I would have been furious.

I don't agree.

We are just bending over to AFL House like normal. Utterly weak in my view
